I posted this last week and the crazy part is nothing was really settled last night so it pretty much is the same. Well that 5-0 record to start the season was pretty but its what happens when you schedule soft.  Beaumont Ozen 1-8, Beaumont Central 6-2, Alice 6-3, Aldine 3-6 and South Houston 5-4 are a combined 21-23.  The first 3 of those opponents are 4A and neither of the 5A schools are what we would consider a top notch program.  I personally think they should drop Ozen and Alice and look for some stiffer 5A competition around the Houston, Dallas or San Antonio area or at least some state ranked 4A programs.  I would rather have 1 or 2 loses to some good schools (Lufkin, 1 of the Katy Schools, etc.) then to go into district play with a false self of confidence. Also, get out of the spread, its for sissy's unless you have a big time throwing QB which they don't.  Line up under Center with a fullback and play some big boy/smash mouth football.

(i doubt LCM is that crazy) [/quote] From something I read earlier in the year, I don't think Lamar will be hosting any high school playoff games this year.  Maybe next year.  But the Butch can host 4 playoff games, 1 on the Friday and 3 on the Saturday, like they use to do at the old Astrodome.

The only 5A's in SE Texas are West Brook, Memorial and depending on your boundaries Baytown Sterling.  Due to depth and lack of a balanced attack, I say no. I love my lil' cousin and the Wildcats but this is a thread that shouldn't have even been started.

I do see Galena Park winning out to go 4-3 (the district opponents are a combined 1-9) but that puts them in the playoffs, Crosby could go 4-3 with Dayton and Barbers Hill left to play but they have the head-to-head win over Galena Park, and yes if GCM finds away to upset Barbers Hill (I don't see it happening) and win their las game, they would be in knocking Galena Park out.  That would change Central's opponent to GCM for the 2nd year in a row in the first round (one that I would personally prefer). It could happen...but it won't.

Sorry Silsbee fans, but this game isn't for the title.  You lost to Bridge City which means when you loose to WO-S, you will be in 3rd.  Just saying.

WOSGrad, how does Kcat fan in the 140 group have only one week that he missed?  I think he is supposed to be in the 160 group.

If it wasn't for being an hour and a half from Beaumont, I wouldn't mind seeing these two teams play even though I don't know anybody at either school.  Maybe I can make a phone call and they can move the game to the BISD stadium...I tryed, but all time slots are full for Friday and Saturday with Ozen, West Brook and Central, lol.  Anyway, I seen Coldspring when they played Kirbyville and they are a pretty tough team.  If it wasn't for a fumble in that game, it would have been even closer.  Going by stats should be the game of the week... Coldspring in a close one. 

With 2 weeks to go, WOW, a rookie to pickem' is in the lead!  Me, lol. WOSGrad, must say, you have done a great job since taking over mid stream for Rykers.  Keep it up.  Also, you'll never told me what my prize would be when i told you all in week 0 that I would when this thing, lol.  Guess I'll get to brag for a whole year!

Good pickup if we can get Hall and JJ.  But do we know who else Lamar has on the radar to bring in this recruiting class or is it to early for that?  Sure would be nice if he could convince #1 up in Kirbyville to play here next year...

I say rest Heard if they beat Lumberton, but I would not rest anybody else, they need reps.  By resting Heard, it would help Carter and any other RB get use to game speed which may be needed in the playoffs.  Also, as many balls as those WR's have dropped, they need to be out there every game working on their timing and hands.

Soulja, I don't think i personally know you but you are correct.  Our fans are very tempermentle.  They love them when they are winning and hate them when they are loosing.  Also, the band director needs to be told to play primarly when our defense is on the field instead of when the offense has the ball and its 3rd and 10 for us.  Thats when they are supposed to be quiet but instead they help out the opposing defense by playing and play loud.  Don't get me wrong, I love our band and their style, just need to be educated on when to play and not to play.  I also agree with you that if its a long play for the offense, everybody is on their feet.  But if its just a first, you don't hear nothing.  I think most of the noise comes from the old school or older fans, not the young generation, they are to cool for that.  I go to Lamar and Houston Texan games and they do the first down thing.  Maybe you can start that.
