JMO
Very well said. I know I may stir the pot here but the countless number of Manvel players taunting of our players, fans, cheerleaders and Indianettes all showed major lack of character and sportsmanship. I even saw them taunting Faircloth himself. With the most unbiased perspective as posibble I'd have to say too that they are the most unsportsmanlike team Ive ever seen play. That is a DIRECT reflection of their coaching AND parenting. If I saw my son talking trash to the other teams cheerleaders or coaches...heck, even running his mouth to the other players he would be in for a rude awakening when he got home. But then again...some people have class. Just saying. By the way...you can't really throw the entire Manvel team under the bus. Number 5 I think it was showed good sportsmanship after the game. We all know how upset DJ gets and after the game he just walked off the field by himself. Number 5 on Manvels team chased him all the way across the field and grabbed him and patted him on the back and told him good game. It was a very nervous moment to watch because we all know how emotional DJ gets but it went well. Anyway Kudos to number 5 from manvel...It was about the only act of good sportmanship I witnessed all night from that side. Now...what a staging for a REMATCH!!!! INSTANT RIVALRY!!!! Now there is blood and BAD blood at that...I can't wait for Round 2. HARD FOUGHT GAME.
WOW......completely unbiased. Now parenting is being called into it. Grown men on here laughing and demeaning the Manvel band. What about #33 and #36 on PNG? Is their parents to blame for their bad behavior on the field?
We, Willis, have video of #36 kicking a Willis player after a play.  He was not flagged.  PNG fans calling other teams dirty while pretending their own players are choirboys is slightly funny and disturbing.  Just like the said about Willis, they got what they deserved.

If that's all they had done, I wouldn't have mentioned it as I have no problem with that, but I'm here to tell you SouthPaugh, they were pointing fingers at our side and and taunting our players on our side. It wasn't just one or two either, it was about one third of the team. And our players went through our run through before Willis did and were already on our sideline when this all occured. The officials had to go out to midfield and stop them. Thats why the officials stood at midfield during the entrances in the second half. Argue all you want on this one SouthPaugh, just calling it like I saw it. I think youll find in the morning when they wake up, that I wasn't the only PNG Fan that felt like Willis showed very little class! I have not seen a team act like that in a long time. But hey like I said once you begin to dissrespect your opponent...you get what you deserve...YOU GET BEAT! Other than all that it was a heck of a game!
As I recall Willis came out first in the first half. If our kids did that, Coach Jackson will punish them. I have seen plenty of disrespectful teams win. That has nothing to do with winning and losing. It has to do with handling a situation. If they did it, it was in poor taste- much like they way you are generalizing and much like the way PNG band played while we played the school song at the end. Like I said, PNG was no model for sportsmanship last night.
We always play Cherokee at the end of the game....maybe it was disrespect for you to play your school song during Cherokee.  Besides, I'd like to thank your fanbase for standing for our school song at the begining of the game, like most schools do.  No problem, we stood for yours....without being told to.  That personifies the class Willis has as a whole, and spilt over to your teams poor taste.  Seems to me that you bunch of rookies to the playoffs do not know how to handle a little success.  And yes, two rounds is a little.
if you will go back and read, I wasn't the one complaining about sportsmanship from the beginning. PNG fans were. Neither team was a model last night. And I agree we should have all stood for the PNG school song - I did. But most Willis fans are new to this as I previously admitted. No biggie. As for the assinine comment that Willia has better athletes and PNG has better football players, that is ridiculous. You beat us by 3 points. You have 42 seniors and we have 14 (only 5 senior starters). You have won consistently throughout your history. Willis is building. When Jackson was hired, they were coming off of 1-29. So save me the y'all were better coached or are better football players crap. Last night, you were the better football TEAM. You had size and we had speed. Neither defense could handle the opposing offenses strength.
 3. They weren't slipping last night. Great showing that was expected.

 5. I thought either team would have trouble with Manvel. PNG probably matches up better due to size (and they won). Manvel doesn't have the Willis offense or 3 Top 100 recruits but their defense is a whole lot bigger. Bertrand and that line won't be able to mash like they did tonight. It will take a workman effort by PNG. Still, I think Manvel wins by 10.

We were flagged more but your players weren't innocent. You had a defensive player kick our #65 after the play and the official missed it. Your coaches whine about every freakin call that goes against them. We lost. We can handle it. But don't call us thugs. Be better winners than that. Your team was no model tonight. Congratulations and good luck. Here's to a rematch next year.
Thug wasn't the word I used, but whatever works for you. It all started with the opening run through when your group of Fine Young Men ran to midfield and taunted our side. They got lucky they didn't start out with a 15 yard penalty. Officials had to go out and turn them around. Good Luck next year!!! Kepp disrespecting your opponents and see where it gets ya!
I could say the same to your players. One Indian fan used the word thug. Sorry you took offense but our players just huddled at midfield. They didn't look at your players and this was before your players came out. Good luck next week.
 7.
Funny how all those Willis cheapshots came back to bite 'em in the end. The personal foul on #56 for taking a swing at #55 for PNG after he was pancaked on that last drive. How about when the Willis player had the blatant face mask take down of Jalali, wrenching his neck, then stood over him taunting him as he was hurt on the ground. To the guy who stated that Willis had class, I call BS!!! That was the dirtiest team I have seen in a long time! Now on to Manvel.
you guys are hilarious. Both sides got chippy tonight. It looked to our side as if the ball hit the ground. Our student that videos the games thinks he got it. If he sends it to me as I requested, I will post it either way.

Maybe Huffman, Maybe Navasota either way each school & town should be proud of there team not matter the outcome.
I agree 100%. I'm so proud of the Huffman boys, as I'm sure Navasota is of their boys. And as far as some other comments go, I don't think it's right to say that Navasota has better athletes, especially if you haven't really looked at the Huffman team very closely. I have been very discrete about who I am and who I may or may not be related to, but I've taken alot of offense when their are remarks made that insult the Huffman players and their ablities and skills. Many of them are just as deserving, hardworking and talented as alot of the boys from these highly ranked schools. I'm not saying you shouldn't be proud of your players and brag about them, just don't insult someone else in the process.
I watched Huffman play.  Navasota just has better athletes.  Like I said, it doesnt mean that they are the better TEAM.  Nor does it mean that Navasota has the best athlete.
Seen both play.  Navasota has more athletic talent.  That doesnt make them the better team or that they will win.  They just have a higher ceiling.  And their coach is top notch. Won a state title at Rogers.  Rebuilt Robinson who went to the state finals the year after he left and subsequently tanked. Now rebuilt talent rich Navasota.
 10.
i think PN-G defense steps up and PN-G wins by 21+
unless the Willis offense turns the ball over multiple times, I think that is wishful thinking.

 12.
southpaugh, willis is 4-2-5 on defense all the way. They just move strong safeties around.
They just move Reese around.  There are only two true LB's but Reese plays safety, LB, and CB.  They are multiple.  Yes the base is 4-2-5 but you rarely see that alignment.
 13.

Willis fan here. The two teams sound pretty similar.  Explosive offenses and defenses that are improving but have holes. Willis is loaded in the junior class and at the skill positions.  They are small on the offensive line and very young on the defensive line. The offense is a spread (more Texas 09 and less Florida 09).  The QB, Fred Nixon, spreads the ball around to several athletes, RB Autrey Golden, RB/WR Demarcus Kizzie, WR Quan West, WR Robert Johnson, WR Kevin Markham (all juniors).  The defense has had trouble with quick, fast athletes but has otherwise been solid.  They are multiple(4-3 to 3-4 to 4-2-5).  The defense has been vulnerable on the edges (see the Mag West Sykes kid's two games).  Like I said, they have had trouble with quick, fast athletes which explains losses to Navasota, Mag. West, and Humble.  The best athlete (athlete, not player) is Erin Reese who is a CB/S/LB. As far as history and tradition, there is no comparison.  PNG has more of that.  Willis hadnt even won a playoff game since 2000.  The fans travel well all things considered but dont expect competition there.  The PNG band will blow away the Willis fans - well those of us who didnt got to a school with big time football teams.  The problem for PNG is that Willis fans and players are mostly blind and naive with respect to the PNG tradition and won't be intimidated by that. As for my prediction, high-scoring and close.  I think it will come down to turnovers and red zone stops.
Welcome aboard southpaugh. I do look for a high scoring game Saturday night and I think it will come down to who holds on to the ball or who can get a key stop or two on defense. As far as your remark to the PN-G tradition that don't win games for ya but it does help the players when they have 4000+ fans yelling for them. To all Willis Players and supporters; Have a safe trip to Beaumont Saturday and good luck. Let's play some football ;)
Actually, sometimes I do think tradition wins games for you when you are up against a team that knows what you are about - even remotely.  My comment was more to the effect that Willis hasn't had any success so their fans and players are, for lack of a better word, pretty ignorant when it comes to Texas high school football history and tradition.  As such, they will be amazed by the non football they see on Saturday but not intimidated by it, like maybe a Angleton or a Huntsville might be. I do think 4,000 people on one side could have an effect if the young team gets starry eyed.  But you just never know how young men react in the playoffs.  Heck, I saw a 7-4 Coldspring team destroy my undefeated high school team with former Dallas Cowboy Jason Tucker in the second round in 1993.  They were inspired by the death of a coach and went all they way to the state championship game.
