They only cater to MC athletics most of the time.
Maybe they are catering to the people that actually buying the papers.
If that's the case, then go the whole 9 yards and change the name if that's where their revenue is comming from. Most Beaumont people could realy care less. Most of the stuff in the suprise isn't worth reading sportswise.

I see it now. We play @ the ant mound. Interesting. Our first 3 opponents run a spread offense and if I'm not mistaken, BH runs one of those run orientated offenses. Maybe we were looking at the bigger picture since we have Vidor and Livingston in our district that are similar to them. I don't know. I still look for us to have a great showing. Our defense will be a lot better than last year judging from the spring game and we have way more playmakers on offense this year than last. I hope we have a successful warm up before kicking off the season. 8)

I thought this scrimmage was IN H-F.
I think he will still play. I heard he was a bit burned out. He attended the Duke basketball camp this summer, and I was told he played really well. Definitely a huge asset to the team, as he was the only kid to register on the dunk-o-meter last season and by far has the best MRJS on the team. Both qualities that Soulja hold close to his heart. 8) We definitely need his athleticism on the court.
Ok, so the dunk o meter returns.... Interesting... I must admit. I'm VERY interested to see the Nederland kid with the SMRJ. 8)
::) My point was just what Soulja said.. Ozen used to get every kid with basketball talent to go there.. The fact that there is even a question to where they are going should tell you enough.
Actually, Central alums :-X are doing a good job of promoting their school,as they should. Central and Ozen sit at home come playoff time wishing they would have went to West Brook. 1. NED 2. Vidor 3. PN-G 4. Livingston
And then you woke up. -

They will have the most experienced players. Ozen will be too inexperienced this season but will have the most speed out of all the other teams in the district. Ozen and Livingston will be battling for for 3rd and 4th spot. Ozen is just too young to make any noise this year. So, just take Ozen off the radar. Plus Ozen has several players leaving the program this year to attend other schools. On top of this, the top freshmen are reported to be enrolling into Central. Looks like Central will win State this year.
Ain't no way anyone is going to count Ozen out of the race. Nice try! ;)
Dove just doing a little "poor mouthing". In reality, he expects the Dove duo to help bring home the district title.
If you remember last year, not many gave Nederland much of a shot at the district title bc we lost so much from the year before. Too much basketball tradition at Ozen to think they won't be right there at the end of the season pushing for the district title. They may struggle early, but I have a feeling they will figure it out midway through district, similar to last year...
And they did figure it out in the middle/at the end of district play with a big win over us and went on to beat Nederland in the playoffs en route to a pretty good playoff run.
Soulja- Will you be on dunk watch early in the upcoming season or will you direct your attention more to the smrj?
I don't know. With the departure of H-J's Prudhomme and Central Smith, someone felt the dunk-o-meter wasn't warrented for the upcomming season, so it was removed. Therefore, We'll have to do manual dunk counts.
Central should be solid and could be better than this past season, even without Smith.. I clearly am biased and think Nederland is the team to beat.. Won or shared district for a few years now.. Return the core of their team.. They have the two of the top 5 players in the Southeast Texas area, regardless of classification, English and Weisbrod, who will be asked to be even better this year.. The Biggest question though is what happens with these "going to be freshman" kids from the Beaumont school district.. A few of them have serious Varsity talent.. If they go to Ozen, it puts the Panthers right up there with Central and Nederland.. Those Hunter boys can ball, but will need some help to win district
I completely agree with this. Smith was the most talented kid in the district last year, but a lot of times, he played outside the system. I think that there is talent spread out enough for this years Jag team to be better than last year's edition.
-
Central loses one starter (K. Smith). They will return the 3 freshmen from last year (will be sophmores), G. Mitchell (teams second leading scorer), and from what I'm hearing, Robert Mitchell will play ball this year (missed last year to heal a football injury). Adding a few players from that talented MLK Middle School team, Central will again be in contention to win the district. Nederland will again be tough, returning young English and Weisbrod, but I will question Big Ned's size. They lost a very tall kid to graduation. Ozen will be good again. That team was young last year. I believe only one of their starters last year was a Senior (Trey Green). I havn't seen the Doves play, but from what I'm hearing, they will be a force. So, 1. Central 2. Nederland 3. Ozen with the 4th place team getting in by default (probably Livingston).
