1. I like how jasper is ahead of coldspring in this ranking, yet coldspring is #16 in DCTF. That's quite the knee slapper. Ha!!!
 2. I guess beating the #1 team in the state doesn't mean anything anymore
 3. Coldspring is returning everybody except one on the o-line, starting tight end and two year starter QB will be back also, but in our offense, everything rests on the oline's shoulders. I know sherman graduated, but if the o-line blocks like they're supposed to you just need somebody who runs hard and isn't afraid of contact. We lost two all-staters on defense, but we have a lot of experienced players returning. I feel confident we win district, just not with the scores we did last year.
 4. I feel if we go in with the same gameplan we did against cleveland at home last year we'll have a chance. If we press and try to run with silsbee that be our downfall. We have a little bit of length but not just blazing speed to be able get back on defence. If we want to keep the few players of size that we have out of foul trouble, then we just need to sprint back and play halfcourt defence. Slowing it down will be in our best interest, especially when you only have a few subs.
 5. Tarkington must be playing well lately. They also beat huffman who we struggled with until the fourth quarter the other night.
 6. Splendora is ahead of Coldspring?  Wow. I'd like to know what that ranking is based off of.
Gilbert and Monroe both seniors. Scott (QB) is a junior. One O lineman is a senior.  #44 Harrison (LB) is a senior. #52 Andries (DLine) is a senior. A few other seniors scattered around on certain plays and packages. Most of the rest are Juniors with a handful of sophmores scattered  in.
I coulda swore that monroe was a junior?

Crow is better when it's warm.  Need to hear from all those Coldspring doubters tonight.
You all have a class team. Don't tarnish it by being "that guy".
Yea, from what I could keep up with on that 30 page thread for this game, I didn't see too many people "doubting" us. Shouldn't be too much crow to serve. On the other hand, if we would've lost, we probably had a lot coming our way, lol.
 9.
Share tomorrows front page story in San Jacinto County News Time! DEFENSE! There is an old saying among football coaches, “Offense keeps you in a game and defense wins championships.” Coach Barbay’s Trojans will attest to that in the last three play-off games, while the offense sputtered the defense carried the mail -- Coldspring 7 and Bridge City 0, Coldspring 21 and Bellville 14 (OT) and the last nail bitter was Coldspring 13 and Lorena 7. In the Bridge City win it took a 72-yard scoring run from Sherman Gilbert along with five sacks, three interceptions and one fumble recovery from the defense for the win. In the Bellville overtime win running back Gilbert was held to 56 yards rushing and one touchdown and the defense once again stood tall with three sacks, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. The win over Lorena was another defensive battle with Coldspring having to overcome five turnovers answered by recovering three Lorena fumbles and two pass interceptions with the last one coming in the last seconds of the game within yards of the Coldspring goal line. In pre-season comments Coach Barbay said, “When all is said and done we (Trojans) will be known for our defense.” Sporting the title of one of the best defensive teams in Texas 3-A, truer words were never spoken. The Trojan defense has shutout 6 opponents this season and only allowed 6.7 points per game. This week they face a tough West Orange-Stark team in Humble at 7:30 p.m. John Nunn Sports Writter
Don't forget all the hits on the quarterback!!!
 10. wow, I have a hard time thinking we'll score that much. I believe we can get at least two td's up on the board, maybe a third, but we will not kick field goals, we'll go for it every time. Knowing wos's kicker has quite the boot I bet they'll kick field goals if they can't punch it in from the red zone. My prediction is 20 - 13 coldspring. I wonder if wos believes in it's defense enough to go for the td in the redzone instead of just leaving with some points?    I ask this because our defense stiffens in the red zone, but you never know, this may be a moot question if they just score on the first three downs every time. Lord knows we miss about 3 opportunities every game to come away with some points, though.
 11.
Is Ked Harrison not a D1 recruit?
I believe he's committed to someone in louisiana that is D-1
 12. how is wos's kicker?        I think the two team's kicking games could end making a big impact on the game. lorena's kicker kept booting it out of the endzone on kickoffs, giving us bad field position, and we could barely kick it to the thirty yard line. I sure hope we work on that in practice this week.
 13. Overreact there much kicker? Just some back and forth, no harm done. I would hardly say anybody has "threatened you"? I'd like to see some input on the game now if you don't mind kicker.
 14.
should be a good game 8)
nahhhhh, I think we'll be kneeling halfway through the third quarter.  8) 8) 8)
 15. Man that's surprising, I don't think we had any problems with them last year that I can remember. I thought they took a blowout loss as good as you could take it, I guess it gets old after two years in a row, lol.
 16. We have got to figure out how to get more points up on the board, someway, somehow.
 17.
CS is a fluke...
How's bridge city lookin in basketball this year?
 18.
Navasota is a very good football team, and could possibly have the best offence we have faced so far. Huffman hasn't faced a team that can pass like Navasota yet. So that scares me a bit especially since our secondary has struggled at points this season. Navasota runs for about 193 yards a game and passes for about 240 so they are pretty balanced. They are a big play quick strike offence, we will have to contain them and force them to make sustained drives if they want to score. Receiving wise almost 70% of thier receptions are split between two players #12 and #2 with #12 being the big play threat. Thier QB protecs the only throwing 2 pics compared to 30 tds while completing 64% of his passes, but he also likes to run and has more carries than any other player. We will have to get pressure on the QB and they have given up some sacks this year in thier loss to Willis they gave up 9, they gave up 5 to Cameron yoe, and a couple in the Lagrange game. So defensively we have to contain the big play and get pressure on the QB and force incompletions, against Willis they only completed 47% of thier passes. Defensively they are not that great, imo CS, silsbee, and probably KP were all better. They give up close to 16 points a game for the season and nearly 283 yards a game in the 6 games I found stats against them. They haven't faced an offence like Huffman's offence every team they faced ran the ball atleast 35+ times even Willis who threw 27 times still ran 46 times. Huffman averages about 33 pass plays compared to 18 run plays a game, Navasota's opponents ran close to 35 times and only passed about 15 times. Huffman should be able to move the ball and score on this D, we just can't make mistakes like we did against silsbee. Last week we over 400 yards of offence and ran better than we have in most games, but we can't have the turnovers. Townley can't throw pics this week or we won't have a chance. Huffman has to eliminate the mistakes, we can't have kick off returns for tds, give them starting filed position at our own 4, or have dropped passes. I believe our Defense will hold navasota to limited numbers and if our offense can score 21+ points we will have a very good chance to win. 24-21 Huffman
Is that somebody actually giving a detailed analysis between two teams based on actual facts? OMG!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D
 19.
Sorry everyone, but saying Coldspring, a SMALL 3A school, could handle a 5A power like PAM is just ridiculous. They have some quality players but I'm absolutely sure that across the board they could not put the talent at every position a 5A or good 4A school could. The real breakdown would be the fact that Coldspring has several players going both ways where a PAM has two quality players at EACH position. They might hang until halftime and then, with their collective tongues hanging out, they would get wore out by the speed and DEPTH of a school like that. Period. Keep it real, please.
Actually last year's team had very few people going both ways, even though it might've helped in certain situations to do so.  Also  many of the seniors from last year are still playing now and a few got looks but decided not to continue their football careers, and quite a few juniors that are now seniors will definitely go play somewhere. So yea, I think we could've hung with some 4-a and 5-a schools last year at least.
 20. I hope our offense doesn't expect the defense to bail us out all throughout the playoffs like they did  tonight. We're gonna have score a little too if we want to improve from last year's result.
