Nederland made WAY too many errors to expect to compete with a decent team.
They can bounce back before district.
TOO MANY BIG GUNS FOR NEDERLAND. THEY WILL BE FINE.
They need to find a #2.  With Brett Brown on the mound they can beat anyone.  Duplant is gone, so they need someone to step up.  Sanderson seemed like he threw pretty well tonight, but the defense let him down.  Trent Fontenot also pitched well last time out.  They should be fine by the time district starts, but a 1-5 start is not what most people expected out of this team.
Obviously they are going to need more than 1 or 2 pitchers!!! This same defense let down pitchers last weekend too!!! Too many E's even if your pitchers are doing their job! Pitchers can't win the games themselves. You can have someone try to step up all they want but if they aren't given chances with a strong defense behind them then it's a moot point. Work all the pitchers until you figure out your best combinations! I'm sure these boys are going to be just fine once they work out all the kinks. Watch!

 5. I have read several threads now where it's smitty against seemingly everyone else in Nederland. This thread we're in now...smitty turned it to say that roughrider was blaming the boys. That is not what he meant AT ALL!! Any outsider reading this can see that he is encouraged that Nederland is doing as well as they are AND they are underclassmen. In no way at all did I read into that as blaming the kids. NOW...in Smitty's defense, I have read several other comments he's made on other threads and he sometimes makes some valid points. One thing I will say is that he stands firm in his distrust/discouragement of Nederlands DC. Smitty is one to dance around but at the same time I'm sure he gets tired of trying to spin the same message in different ways. Why not just ignore any comments you don't like and not give any fuel to the fire? I think I know Roughrider and I'm pretty sure he's not "blaming" his kid or ANY kid! He's been a coach (if I'm thinking of the right person :)) and knows how hard kids work to perform and be successful. The Bulldogs have shown a ton of heart this year with all that they've endured on AND off the field!!
 6. Central Middle School played Vidor Black on 10/19 CMS 8th grade B - 12 Vidor Black B      -  6 CMS 8th grade A  - 19 Vidor Black A      -  6
 7. I've heard several freshman talking about how they're going to be on varsity and take positions. From pitchers, to outfield to catchers. I guess the varsity will be all freshman if the daddy's have their say so?!!? Hope Robbins is ready for this group!!!
 8.

Not sure if Raider is the boys parent but sure seems to take a serious offense for the kid. I'm not saying who is right or who is wrong BUT... in my opinion, the kid didn't even take any time for things to calm down. Unless he was physically threatened it was IMO a hasty move on the family's part. The parents should have told him this is what life is like, not everyone is going to like you and vice versa. DEAL WITH IT!!! Usually a geographical change isn't going to help the problem when the problem might be in the person! The problem will just remanifest itself eventually. It might not be in high school but it might show itself in college or the work place. The lesson taught the boy was an unfortunate one!
Never said his choices were right or wrong, but they are his.  He is the one who has to live with them, so let him. The LEAST any of us speculators and gossipers can do is at least get the facts straight when we're spewing about it and that's the whole point of any post I've made on this topic.
That's kind of exactly MY point too....this KID was allowed to make a mistake when it should have been the parents to step in and take control. KIDS don't control situations, parents and adults do! I'm not badmouthing your kid, I'm simply sad for him, that's all! I've never said anything negative about him...just disappoint that his parents didn't take parental control over their KID and his decision making. Yes a tough lesson was taught but it didn't have to be the one he learned. Whether you want to think it or not, it will be a tarnish in his high school memories of what could have been.  Believe me, everyone WILL let him live with it, it's just unforunate is all.

 10. Nederland 8th grade LOST to Port Neches BAD.... Nederland 8 Port Neches 46 Hope it's no indication as to what is going to happen on Friday!?
 11. Heard he was ruled ineligble! Wonder if he regrets his decision? Senior year and all....what a bummer!
 12.
Tell that to whomever leaked it to the PA News.
I agree
I agree too!  It's very unfortunate that Nederland's dirty laundry has been aired in such public forums. Especially with kids names being used! I would think the reporter could have used better discretion considering he/she is talking about minors. The articles read like cheap gossip magazine fodder. My son is friends with several of the football players and he was told both articles twisted the actual story. So what AggiesWeAre said is so true...there are three sides to every story...his, theirs and the TRUTH. The only people who know the truth are the people that were actually in the meetings. Anything anyone else is going to hear is second hand and we all know how the game "telephone" works!!!
 13.
Does anyone have a score for Lumberton/Central 8th grade
The final score of Lumberton/CMS 8th grade A teams was: Lumberton - 36 CMS - 0 Excellent coaching by the LMS coaches!!!
 14. Thank you bulldogbacker!!! Finally...someone who agrees with me!! I knew I wasn't the only one seeing the truth!! Unfortunately, when you have an unpopular opinion that rings truth (ie smitty) people don't like to hear it. The truth hurts! I don't believe one person going to a school board meeting is going to make a difference. Interesting thing is, when you get on these boards/forums, you see just how many actually are thinking the same thing?! NOW...if everyone had the balls to state their honest opinions at a school board meeting, MAYBE then something could happen. Unfortunately, Nederland has a reputation of blackballing players, people, families though when they don't "go with the flow".  Like it or not, it's true. I know a lot of people bleed black and gold and that's great! That might just mean you've never actually gotten out to see how else things could be run when one gets in a rut?! To the person that defended CO Wilson and I guess coach Lynch....thank you for not making your comments about CMS, because there is and has been something lacking in the coaching department over there for some time. It just seems like common sense that Neumann would take into consideration what he hires at those levels, as these guys are setting the tone for HIS high school program. He could do a better job of building the entire program if he were to take an interest at THAT level too considering he's the athletic director...that's all!!!
 15. Talking about the starters on varsity, Couron is the only sophomore that came from CMS!! Don't even know who Hopkins is?
 16. I don't think it would be news AT ALL to tell you the truth. I think there's a lot of people that would be in denial  :-X No one is going to admit that a move was made for athletic purposes because technically those aren't supposed to be allowed (but they ARE). I agree that Central is good school too. I'm certainly not going to put myself out there for an attack and say it's the better of the two but it's interesting to get feedback from the high school teachers as to comparisons. Having said THAT...let's just say I'm glad my kids went to Central  ;) ;) ;D This thread got way off topic too...I believe this particular topic is a whole other thread! Nederland has a decent athletics department and lucky for the district that it has a TON of talent!!
 17. Well...I don't really appreciate being called either of those, jive!! Having worked in the school district I KNOW parents personally that are sending their kids over for athletic purposes!! You're the idiot if you believe the reason that it's more for demographics than athletics!! Nice lesson thats being taught the kids too that if you don't like or should I say "prefer" the color of ones' skin, MOVE to the "other side"!!!  I would like to think their ignorant brains prefer the athletics over the demographics. I sent my kids to Central and NEVER once did we run into a problem with the demographics. Oh well, lame argument about something that is bred into people. I live on the south side myself and I take offense in the implication you made that just because one lives on the "other side of the tracks" means they invest in their kids at a young age as far as time and opportunities. I won't let it ruffle my feathers though. You said it yourself, if the interest is still there than the kids will continue to play. My point exactly is that the interest is killed "sometimes" in the middle schools after such pitiful seasons. Thanks!
 18. I agree...that first district game will be VERY interesting!! There's a LOT of heart in the players in Nederland that's for sure!!
 19. Anyone who would make a blanket statement that the middle schools are the problem with Nederland's football program obviously isn't very well acquainted with Jack Lynch.  You're correct...I'm not acquainted with Jack Lynch. No idea who that even is?! Don't really care as I'm obviously not talking about him  ;) Your budding superstars at Central may have had bad experiences, but your initial statement about both schoolsis just wrong.  It is not a coaching problem at Central it is an overall talent problem. I totally disagree, the player talent is what got the 1st win against CO in 10 years last year!! There actually is A LOT of talent at Central it's just not utilized by the coaches. And I later made an implication as to what middle school I was referring to anyways. C.O. traditionally has more of the better athletes.  That's probably a true statement BUT... from here on out that's mostly because of transfers too, because parents and kids from the CMS district don't WANT to play for CMS!!! Take a look at how many transfers were approved in the last 2 years!!! It is enough to open anyone's eyes!! Get a clue?! As long as both middle schools are teaching the fundamentals of Neumann's system and replenishing the ranks in high school the middle school coaches at both schools are doing their jobs.
 20.

IMHO...Nederlands problem(s) actually start in the middle schools. I am going out on a limb here to say that probably most of us in these forums are middle aged. Well when I was in junior high, they played flag football and you didn't play contact football until high school. We didn't have all the junior leagues (for all sports) like they do now (which I don't agree with either as you're seeing way too many injuries amongst such young boys). Not all boys play in these junior leagues though. THAT being said, the boys are not being properly prepared for high school football at at least ONE of the middle schools for sure in Nederland. Neumann might want to REALLY consider and take a look at what he hires at those levels considering they are the ones preparing the boys for HIS high school program. I had two sons play at one of the middle schools and I never before have witnessed such incompetence amongst the coaches. VERY basic changes just wouldn't be made. It was SO agonizing they (my boys) decided they didn't want to play at all in high school. Not because they didn't like the sport but it was made to be so depressing in junior high. THAT is what is happening in Nederland... the love of the game is being lost in the middle schools!! Would I like to see a house cleaning in Nederland? Why not? It certainly hasn't hurt PN-G. Sometimes people get too comfortable and things need to be shaken up! When you have talent and it isn't utilized then sometimes you might need to consider other options. I think Nederland has some serious talent right now too and the first district game will show everyone exactly what Nederland has to offer! Good luck guys!!!
This is way over the top. I played Jr league in the 70's and played all my school sports in Nederland. We one 1 game a year at Jr High level and not very many in high school. You play because you love the sports, period. Most kids quite because they dont like the disciplne that goes with football. Some dont play because they specialize in other sports. Or they just hang out with the wrong crowd, either way, football is a sport you have love to play. I totally agree, not disagreeing with you on that!! BUT...I am speaking from my own experiences with one of the middle schools and football became a joke As for as JR league football, I agree that some coaches out there do not know what is going on, however it is no different than other youths sports. The most inportant to any young player is to know to keep their head when they tackle so they dont get hurt. Kids should have fun in league sports but if they cant hack they need to find something else to do. By the way most all of the sophmores if not all them that are playing on Friday night play Jr league football is about half and half between hte 2 schools, and there are more coming right behind them. It is not for everyone. Actually there are 5 sophomores starting right now (6 counting Stampley once he recuperates) and out of those 6 only 1 came from CMS. Are you aware the Central beat CO 8th grade A team for the first time 10 years last year Yes, I am VERY much aware of Central beating CO last year. Believe me it wasn't because of the talent of the coaching staff either. That was a very athletically dominant 8th grade class.
21. I would like to see Raines stay right where he is and use Dionte on defense and certain plays at QB. Raines has shown great improvement at QB and he is the DOGs future.Just my opinion.
I agree...would like to see Raines continue where he is at and put Dionte back on defense before changing it ALL up. Raines is an amazing athlete who has done a great job with the massive responsibility handed to him.
