  1. Cards advance to District 32 championship Jason Rollinson The Orange Leader BRIDGE CITY — Chase Shugart threw a complete-game four-hitter while falling just a triple short of hitting for the cycle as the Bridge City 9-year old All-Stars advanced to the District 32 Championship Game with a 19-2, four-inning win over Nederland North Monday at Bridge City Little League Complex. Shugart got BC on the scoreboard with a two-run home run to center, singled in the second and added a run-scoring double off the wall in the fourth to lead the 12-hit Cardinal attack. Dillon Taylor was 4-for-5 with four runs-batted in, and Kevin Worthy added a pair of hits and RBI. Others getting hits in the game were Blaine Slaughter, Bryce Carey and Tryce Howard. Shugart let NNLL put the ball in play and relied on his defense to get quick outs. He scattered four hits over four innings while walking three and striking out five. BC continued its scoring after Shugart’s solo blast in the top of the first when Worth singled to left, Carey reached on an infield single and Ryne Shugart walked to load the bases. Howard doubled the Cards’ run total when he laced a single through the right side to score a pair of runs and give BC a 4-0 edge. Howard took second and third on a pair of wild pitches and came home to score when Blake Pruett tapped a grounder to first. Nederland North got a run back in the bottom of the first when Jace Bordelon, who singled with one out, scored on a hit to left by Luke Bean. The Cards scored seven more runs in the second inning as 12 batters went to the plate. Slaughter led off with a walk and Taylor and Chase Shugart each singled to fill the bases. Worthy lined a two-run single up the middle to stretch the lead to 7-0, and after two outs, Jonah Watts drew a walk to load the bases. The wheels continued to fall off for NNLL as pitcher Bean hit Pruett with the bases full to bring home a run and walked Corbin Voegeli to force in another. Slaughter reached on a fielder’s choice and error that scored two more runs and Taylor cleaned the bases with a run-scoring double to right center to put BC up 12-1. BC scored four more runs in the third and three in the fourth to stretch its three-game run-scoring margin to 66-5. The Cardinals will return on the road Monday for the championship against the team out of the losers’ bracket. Nederland South and Fannett-Hamshire-Winnie-Stowell will play Wednesday with Nederland North meeting the winner. The winner of NNLL’s next game would advance to the championship, needing to beat BC twice to win the tourney.

  5. People wonder why no one roots for mlc. When you do have a good team you talk smack about everyone else's. We all know what happens when you lose. Its either shut the park down or try and run Griff off. Our defense got exposed last night. That plus good pitching will beat you 99 out of 100 times.
  6. For those that only want the best 9: P - Haymon C - Jackson 1B - Angelle 2B - Bolton SS - Coleman 3B - Hecker OF - Dishon OF - Sparks OF - Johnson That's how the coaches voted. I prefer the way they did it, so everyone who deserved to be recognized was.
  7. cardinallbb at least i played I had my picture in our high school yearbook
  8. Ran across this on espn this morning(page 2 article). The 100 worst draft picks ever. Checking in at 26 Orangefield's Jeff Granger. I'm not posting this as a jab at Jeff I just thought it was interesting. I consider him a friend and have known and played with and against him all through Little League and Pony. He had a run of bad luck in his professional career. To be good enough to be considered a bad pick is an accomplishment in itself.
  9. If i'm not mistaken Bridge City has lost only one district game since moving to 3a. I think the loss was the first year we dropped to 3a. Pretty sure it was Buna.
  10. BRidge City's, Johnny Dishon-7, Casey Jackson- 8, Kevin Angelle-5 Add Coleman, Sparks, Stringer and Willey to that list.
  11. Dont worry I will. You obviously checked our website out. Teams like ours combined with the Little League program in Bridge City is a big reason we only have 1 distict loss since 2000. So yes i will stick with youth baseball in BC. I enjoy watching the kids i've had dealings with in the past have success playing High School baseball.
  12. Your probably right about the pitching matchup being uneven. Thank God we didnt have to waste any pitching against Anahuac. If we would have had to play last night I dont think we would have anybody to throw tonight. We need to figure out how to schedule 1 district game a week so our pitching will be ready every game. BC-12 HF-2
  13. I don't think Bridge City is scared to play LCM. I think the person who makes the schedule might be scared
  14. Pretty sure Jackson was 2-2 in each game last week. A double and a homer in each game.
  15. Back in the 80's.....Scott Gooch of Bridge City hit a towering shot over the lights and railroad tracks in dead center of Mustang Park @WOS. It just disappeared into the darkness. Coach Ronnie Anderson told us that it was the hardest hit ball he had ever seen at Mustang Park. Scott went on and played football for University of Texas and last I heard was a stock broker. Andre Robertson definately hit some tape-measure jobs there as well! Gooch also hit one that year at BC against WOS. Leftcenter over the cages almost to Bower Dr. I was on 1st when he hit it and stood there in shock. He had to stop running so not to pass me up. Him and Bubba Thurman that year during bp would put on a show.
  16. look for hecker to play short. if coleman plays it look for hecker or bolton to play second. also look for meeks to push stringer hard for the #3 spot in the rotation.
  17. One more to add to list. Cody Sparks from BC. .360"s last yr. with 7 jacks. Was a big part of the Card's success last year. Often overlooked in baseball because of all the other sports he excels in.
