  1. If the player played 2 games then got injured and missed remaining games due to the injury he would be eligible for Allstars. He would be eligible for allstars because he played in 100% of the games he was eligible to play in.
  2. You have to play in 60% of the games you are eligible to play in.
  3. Tried PM'ing but having difficulty(not uncommon..lol). GTB 9U has 2 spots open if interested. Call anytime. Thanks, Ronnie Shugart 409-720-9297
  4. Chris you can also add Roderick Robertson To our list at Hitter's Inc.
  5. Believe it or not we have Chase and Chase (Shugart and Rutledge) for the championship game. We have our work cut out for us Thursday but we wouldnt have it any other way.
  6. Bears, for us to be on cloud 9 we would have to come down to there! What can I say..They never QUIT! They are such a good group of kids. Not one time today did anyone of them hang their head or ever look like they were done. Very determined to reach their goal. They dont think they can lose and no matter the score they just keep grinding. Thanks for all the support and we will give it heck on Thursday.
  7. There were a few presents waiting for the boys...lol. Nothing like getting new bats and everyone wanting to change what they have been using..lol. Breakdown of players: 8 - BC 3 - OF 1 - WOS 1 - LCM
  8. Kids swung the bat well today. We were a little nervous the top of of the 1st. Jonah settled in and was lights out the rest of the way. Pitching is what we hang our hat on. 4 kids can run it up over 70. Watts, Roddy, Rutledge, and Shugart. 1st three usually 68-72. The last one usually around 73-74 and has touched 78 a few times. Long way still to go but I like our start. Thanks for all the well wishes and we will continue trying to make Golden Triangle area proud.
  9. BCLL: Home of the Texas East State Champs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Those in attendance and those listening to KOGT didn't know how to act Wednesday morning when the Bridge City 12 year old All-Stars took a 3-0 lead in the FIRST inning of their championship game with Lamar National out of Richmond, Tx. It was the first time in their five tournament games at the Texas East State Tournament that they grabbed the games first lead. And here they were, playing for the title after losing their first game 12-1. After three straight singles by Chase Shugart, Blake Pruett and Jonah Watts, and a walk to Chase Rutledge, BC took advantage of three LN errors to take the 3-0 lead. And after starting pitcher Watts struck out the first three batters in the bottom of the inning, it looked like the beginning of a rout. But this is baseball. Watts continued his mastery on the mound striking out 11 of the first 14 batters he faced. But the offense lost their swing, collecting just three hits the final five innings while leaving a total of eight on base. LN’s Sam Herriage started the fifth with a walk. Then Trevor Parker put the ball in play and an error throw to first brought home Herriage to make it 3-1. The play of the game came from right fielder Tryce Howard who was backing up first. After the errant throw, Parker tried to stretch the play into a double and Howard threw him out at second. It was key because after Chase Rutledge replaced Watts due to the 85 pitch count rule, LN’s Jackson Schindler smacked one over the center field fence which made the score 3-2 instead of a tie game. BC went down in order in the top of the sixth and LN came up to the plate in the bottom with their three biggest hitters coming to the plate. But this time there would be no comeback as “Rut†struck out the side and sent those in red into a frenzy. It was BC Little League’s first state championship. The team that has played some 400 games together in Little League and Select ball had reached a goal their coach Ronnie Shugart had set when he started coaching them at age seven. “In Little League, it’s all about the Majors (12 yr. old division),†said Shugart. “Only the Majors get a Regional Tournament and a chance to play in the World Series in Williamsport.†Somewhat still stunned about the victory, Shugart never wavered in his confidence. “I told you at the beginning, these kids do not quit. They have been in every situation you could possibly be in and they know how to respond.†Of their fifteen runs scored in the five games, 11 were scored in the fourth, fifth, or sixth inning. After losing on Saturday 12-1, they had to come back late to beat Northwest 6-1 on Sunday. Then Monday, First Colony (Sugarland) scored five in the first and led 5-1 going into the sixth before the Cardiac Cards scored four to send it into extra innings and win 7-6 in seven. In Monday’s rematch with LN, they were down 3-0 before scoring five in the sixth to win 5-3. Bryce Carey provided the fireworks with an 0-2, two out, grand slam. Which led us to the third and final game against LN Wednesday morning in the double-elimination tournament. This team of 13 players made up of every shape and size will head to Waco next week with seven other teams from six other southern states for the right to represent the Southwest Region as Lake Charles South did a year ago. With parents beaming as they stood in single file and accepted their State Tournament Champion pins, they acted like little gentlemen and shook the hands of the other team and looked tough as they posed for pictures with the champion’s banner. They signed a baseball for district director and longtime BCLL president Jerry McInnis. “Fifty years I’ve been waiting for this. This ball will have a special place.†After a long ride home they gathered at Hitters, Inc. the indoor batting cage by the BC Little League where fans were waiting for them with signs that read “State Champs.†Again they posed for pictures while everyone told them how great they were. Then they slipped away while parents and fans were still visiting. And as people left and the sun was going down, there they were, on the field with their jerseys untucked, full of energy, and playing what else…baseball.
  10. AMEN! I know 13 12 yr. old boys who lived and breathed that this week.
  11. Jonah Watts gets the start today and if needed Rutledge to close.
  12. For those who cant make it to Tyler, KOGT has been broadcasting live from all of our games. www.kogt.com
  13. Coby Roddy will get the start tomorrow. All I can say is way to freakin battle.
  14. He did start game one. 2 outs on 5 pitches then the wheels came off. pulled in 2nd inning after 5 walks and 2 hit batters. He will throw tonight against FCA. Pitching is set up for us to come all the way back but its going to be a very tall task.
  15. The two kids ive seen Lamar throw are about 65 mph. Both hit their spots relentlessy. Both featured above average curve balls and throw them on any count. They are solid through their lineup and are only playing 10 kids. Two are injured. They are very beatable but you better throw strikes and play defense. They benefited from 9 BC walks and when I left last night First Colony had walked 5 in two innings.
  16. Lamar National defeated First Colony American 6-2. BCLL will play FCA Monday @ 7pm.
  17. I didnt realize the DA was out there pitching and hitting for BC...lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. July 21, 2009 by Gary Stelly -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The BCLL 12 year old All-Stars came into Tuesday's Sectional Championship game with a lot of confidence. They were facing West End, a team they had already defeated 8-1. The West Ender's kept the game interesting early before the red hot bats of BC delivered them the title. Coby Roddy, who was 3-3 with 3 HR's in the semifinals, led off the game with...what else, another homerun! Chase Shugart said he'd like some of that action and one batter later he cranked one out to give BC a quick 2-0 lead. WE lead off batter Brady Sullivan lead off the bottom of the first with a walk and then scored on a ground out RBI by Ford Proctor to cut the lead in half. In the second, Ryne Shugart walked, Chase Shugart singled, and then catcher Blake Pruett drove in Ryne to make it 3-1. In the bottom of the third starting pitcher Roddy walked Proctor and then 2B Matt Scheurich tomahawked a pitch over the center field fence to tie the game at three. A tie game going into the fourth was a wake-up call to Ronnie Shugarts team, who had not been pressured in the tournament. After doubling off the wall, Kolton Bergeron came home on a Chase Shugart single. Then Roddy, who reached after being hit by a pitch, scored on a fielder's choice by Pruett to make the score 5-3 and from there, BC never looked back. Chase Rutledge led off the fifth with a HR to make it 6-3. Statman Mark Watts added that of Rutledge's five hits in the tournament, four were homeruns. Matthew Kress got on with a 2 base error and then scored on an error to make it 7-3. WE tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the inning with the bases loaded and big Blake Darling at the plate, but Chase Shugart replaced Roddy and sent Darling to the dugout with a "K" in the scorebook. In the sixth, BC's Corbin Voegeli drove in Rutledge, Tryce Howard scored on a wild pitch and then Ryne Shugart plated two with a double to make the score 11-3. The game would end with Voegeli making an incredible catch in left field with two on. Roddy struck out nine to get the victory. Being the stereotypical coach, Shugart wasn't totally satisfied, "We left the bases loaded like twice." But before the final out he looked up and said, "How can I be upset, we scored 11 runs, I don't think we had an error, and we got the win. The kids really played well." BC will travel to Tyler this weekend and will begin play Saturday evening. Stay tuned for a tournament bracket. KOGT Sports will be broadcasting live from Tyler, Texas for this weekends 12 year old State All-Star baseball tournament, featuring Bridge City. The Cardinals will open the tournament on KOGT Saturday at 6pm from Faulkner Fields

'87 Bubba Thurman Lamar/Panola/Mcneese '89 Thad Chaddrick Houston/Oklahoma St. Ronnie Shugart Lon Morris '90 Bo Mires Lamar '92 Eric Johansen cant remember the JC and think he finished at Northeastern La. pretty sure Kevin Bergeron went to Northeastern. 23. We are an organization for the Golden Triangle area. We have kids from Beaumont to Lake Charles on our teams. Dropping the Big Red Machine from the name was one way of trying to let people know we are open to kids from every city, not just Bridge City. Sam and I had been discussing doing this for a couple of years and this year we had an oppurtunity and went with it. We have been floored by the response and amount of teams/kids we now have. To say everything has gone smooth would be crazy. We have had several bumps in the road but for the most part I think everything is going according to plan. I know we are excited about the upcoming Spring season and look forward to the challenge of putting together one of the best organizations in the area.
  24. Our 12AA White team is having a tryout the next two Sundays (1/4 & 1/11). Those interested please register at Hitter's Inc. at 1:30pm. Tryous will begin at 2pm. For more info please call Sam Moore 988-6462 or Ronnie Shugart 720-9297.
