Sure looked like a big ole E to me flyball that should have been caught
Unless they changed the definition of the word ERROR that's a hit all day. Never put a glove on it, it's a hit. Should've been caught no doubt, but you know the old phrase "shoulda, coulda , woulda!"
So what your saying if a fielder lets a ball go between his legs with his glove on his head its a hit....a errow is a ball that can be caught with normal effort plain n simple....this is why you have kids with high BAs
As defined in MLB rules

Rule 10.12(a)(1) Comment: Slow handling of the ball that does not involve mechanical misplay shall not be construed as an error. For example, the official scorer shall not charge a fielder with an error if such fielder fields a ground ball cleanly but does not throw to first base in time to retire the batter. It is not necessary that the fielder touch the ball to be charged with an error. If a ground ball goes through a fielder's legs or a fly ball falls untouched and, in the scorer's judgment, the fielder could have handled the ball with ordinary effort, the official scorer shall charge such fielder with an error.

In the case of the fly ball last night that has some folks "up in arms" the outfielder had a ball hit over his head to the wall and he did not make the catch. Would you like for him to make that catch, sure, but it's not a normal play and required more effort. If you want to point to one that should've been caught and was scored a hit you can look at the ball that was lost in the lights by the centerfielder and rightfielder, nobody touched the ball, it's also scored a hit.

In the "sarcastic" example of the fielder with a glove on his head and the ball through his legs, yes that's an error. Just remember the "magic" words "in the scorer's judgement" and "ordinary effort". Let me know if I need to type slower so you can follow.  8)
I think what you read from the "mlb rules" is exactly what 643 was saying

What happened to Woodville...errors?...walks? Or is HJ that tough?
Woodville has injuries.. HJ didn't look that that great but it was when Kountze scrimmaged them when i saw them
Well eagleswoodville#1, your earlier post didnt reflect any of these last comments, supposedly you didnt agree with HJ being mentioned as a top team in this tourney even after the so called injuries were mentioned. And utfan06, how did Kountze look when yall played us, the score was 1-1 after 4 and it was raining... HJ didnt look that good? Really? I thought Kountze looked great that night... Just my opinion. Woodville has how many kids on their Varsity roster? There were 13 in the dugout last night. Didnt look like "serveral" were out...
first off the soul of the woodville team there 3-4 hole hitters are both out and the other player can only hit because he tore something in his shoulder. Hickman is better than any player on the hj team and so is the indian kid

Coby Roddy - LCM, probably the best Sophomore pitcher in the area.
What about the kountze kid, or shugart, or smith? Cody is good, but the best? Not to sure yet?
Like i said earlier just my opinion. Every kid mentioned in this thread are very good players. I've had the pleasure of watching all mentioned play 100's of games with and against each other over the last 9-10 years. Looking forward to seeing where baseball brings them the next few years.
dont think you have watched all of them ;);)

Sfajack02 must have been the best end guard tackle and assistant pee wee coach in his day
As for your smart comment, I actually played DB and WR in Woodville from 96-98 and was a finalist for the Willie Ray Smith Award in 96 and was first team all-district in football and baseball. Played at SFA. Also Newton beat us 21-14 the year they won state AND we NEVER even had to worry about Kountze. O one more thing to mention, only 2 teams made the playoffs when I played and you had to be good to get in!!! Also we gave Kountze a run in basketball. Game, Set, SFA!!! LOL. Your rebuttle please? I had to go Joe Biden on ya hahaha!!! Did you even play sports?
I'm still a kid lol

Buna??... are they supposed to be good?
Well, if we were to compare Buna to Kountze, I may have to go with Buna. ;)
Me too! Kountze havent showed me NOTHING!
i need to be refreshed on what buna has beside guys who run 4.9's in the secondary
  6. Buna doesnt have stand out pitchers but they have 3 good pitchers with decent off speed that keep teams off balance. They have a good infield who don't make errors often and they have a real good Catcher who can swing the stick they have a really strong defensive centerfielder. The one that that helps Buna wins game is they do what they have to do to win like getting bunts down and being team players. I think Buna will win series if they can win game 1 against ch number 1
