1. I have been lurking these forums for about 3 years now, and every now and then a topic will be brought up about how Silsbee will win State titles very soon (of course that was before D1 players fell in Bridgeport's lap). Now, i started seeing posts around 2 years ago regarding the incoming talent pool of Silsbee, and from what I can gather there are 2 current Freshman that are apparently amazing prospects?? I say that as a question because I know very little about these guys, or if I am even right about there being 2 young men? Maybe it is 1 Lebron-esque talent guy?? Heck, I have not even seen their names, so I don't know who to watch for when i check out local games.  Could someone fill me in on some details?  It just seems crazy to me that some people guarantee state titles on the shoulders of Freshmen...

  2. Good game HJ! We were only a few stops away from pulling it out. The most exciting year of football I've ever had. Great year for the Hawks and my son Blain Padgett. Very proud of you.

I was talking with a co-worker about this stud LB we have at HJ dominating, not mentioning his name. He said when he played RB at vidor back in the day there was a guy just like that named Mical Padgett he went up against that destroyed him. I had a good laugh and figured we are talking about the same family.

It was a treat getting to watch him play and wish him well at the next level.
  3. Long time reader here making a first post.. HJ Hawks will be soaring in the boneyard friday night!! I see multiple big performances taking place. Stud offensive player to watch Logan Thompson, kid is just a work horse. Blain Padgett will do his thing and have about 20 tackles. Too much power for this Jasper team.. i see the hawks coming home with a grin on their faces with a 35-21 win!! Tomorrow will be a great day to be Hawk!! YEET

    good call!

I agree with Aggie on this one. Hardin Jefferson and Silsbee both have a  group of great young men. I don't think HJ players would have reacted any different than Silsbee if it were their home court.  It sound like some people are trying to make Silsbee players out to be bullys. I totally disagree with that. Some folk try to find any excuse when their team loses. A lost is a lost people. Build a bridge and move on. Surprise! They play again in 2 weeks! Silsbee could win again. What will be the exuse this time?

No, it doesnt sound like anyone is trying to make Silsbee players look like bullys even though that is the spin you wish to put on it.  Obviously, it had nothing to do with the loss, so that wont wash either.  There will be no (as you say it)"exuse" if Hj loses to Silsbee again.  Like you said, it is what it is.  Silsbee won the game and the players taunted the opposing crowd.  Both are facts.  As for inferring that HJ would have conducted themselves in the same manner, perhaps I can get you a tape of their state title game in 2007 (certainly a FAR bigger event than last Friday night) and you can draw your own conclusions on how they behave in a "big event".
Or the at home buzzer-beater against kountze in 2003.  But thats besides the point, Silsbee and HJ are both playing on the same level and should make for a great rematch... fans included  8)
