How can 2 players make 10 errors combined in a tournament (yes 10) and not come out of the game? Please do not use the "disgruntled parent because my kid is not playing excuse". My son has been getting some playing time.LOL. GO BULLDOGS! [/quote Big Stick i am sure glad someone besides myself doesnt understand it either. Thanks my other topic wasnt about my kid not playin it was about kids facing consquences for their actions glad you saw that too. And as for as ur ? about the 2 players and the 10 errors they were told before we ever played state by one of the coaches that they would never come off the field.   I do not understand why we carry 18 kids on the team because the way I see it the one that quit thinks he should never come off the field and is the best. And he must be in the coaches eyes too because he sure didnt come out of a sigle game after he quit and they let him come back And to silly365 before you make a comment  i do know more about the situation than i have put on here. Next thing is we were out eatin when we were approached by a coach from a team we played he was just puzzled at the fact one of our coaches let a player tell him not to tell him what do and did not do a thing about it.  Then the coach told another player to move up five steps if he wanted to. Comeon  if your the coach then take control of your players
Not justifying what the kid did, but in the 4 games after the incident, here are his offensive stats. 3-4    2 run HR 2-4    3 run HR 2-3    1 rbi 3-4    1 rbi 10-15    .666 avg with 2 HR's and 7 rbi's in 4 games.  I would say his bat justified him being on the field
It shouldn't matter even if he was A-Rod...a kid threatens to quit because he doesn't want to come out and let another deserving player play should have been sent packing.  The coach is clearly letting this kid rule the roost and put himself above THE TEAM. Good message here coach. Wait until he does this in college ball.

 3. It's not just you. Our family shelled out around $100 this week in gate fees and at least another $100 for drinks. Also several of our games ran over 2 hours behind mostly due to having no time limit. This was not a good tournament. At the least there should be a reasonable weekly family pass instead of $25 per person and drinks should be half the price. Also a time limit should be in place.
 4.
We wanted to invite everyone to play in the Southeast Fall Baseball League @ Ford Park.  The league will be open to everyone ages 7-12, as of April 31, 2011.  All games will be Sunday DH's starting Sept 12th and ending October 24th.  All games will be played on the artificial grass fields at Ford Park.  We will try to start all games between 1-5PM to accomodate church.  There is a one time registration fee of $75 which includes 10 games, shirt and MLB replica hat of their team.  We will provide all game balls, professional umpires and team insurance for everyone.  There is not going to be a gate fee to get in to the park.  Your registration fee is the only fee. Response has been tremendous.  Based on current registrations, we expect to have 30+ teams.  The league is open to everyone, including kids who's league has a fall league.  If you would like more information or to register your son/daughter, please go to our website at www.setexasbaseballacademy.com .  If you are interested in coaching or trying to put a league team together, please contact me directly at [email protected] . Again, we will not allow Select teams in this league.  I really see no point in allowing select teams to come in and run kids off the field.  It serves no benefit to either team.  We are striving for as much competitive balance as possible to allow the kids to get the most out of this league. We will have 3 divisions:  7/8 is coach pitch.  9/10 is kid pitch with 46' mounds & 65' bases.  11/12 is 50' mounds & 70' bases.  I will be hosting a free preseason coaching/players clinic covering all the rules, leading off, hitting, pitching & baserunning to help everyone out. We will play regular baseball rules with a few additions:  Every team must roster bat.  There will be a 5-run rule per inning in all divisions (this is to help competitive balance and encourage coaches to let more kids pitch).  Kids will be limited to 15 outs pitching per Sunday.  Coach pitch: you get 3 swinging strikes or 6 pitches total.  If a kid fouls off the last pitch, he gets to continue the at-bat. And finally, we have decided to allow all bats.  After much debate, we came to this conclusion mainly because we don't want anyone to have to go out and purchase a new bat for the fall league. Everyone is welcome to contact me with questions or suggestions at [email protected] . Thanks. Jason Tyner
Is Nederland participating is this league? If so, when is registration and who is the contact person?

And If your child was playing a championship game would you not try your best to see him, like you people have never broken a rule or a law, not likely.
All those words, 2 periods and 1 comma.     ;D
I ran out of breath and almost passed out just reading this to myself!
 6.
Select coaches have done far worse pngpurple!!  The umpires expect them to question calls.  Oh no one charged the plate or the DA was never ignored.  You got the wrong info
I wasn't referring to questioning a call. I was referring to his actions after he was ejected. He was completely ignoring authority by sticking around when he was supposed to leave the area. What exactly is that teaching the kids? As far as questioning a call..isn't that the job of the head coach?
 7.
It is amazing what youth sports has come to. Any attitude is OK as long as the qualifier is attached "he is doing it for the kids" Rules are in place for a reason...to be followed. This is a small example of a bigger problem in society. Authority is something that children and teenagers do not respect anymore. When a figure in their life shows that he can get ahead by having no respect for authority, it encourages them to do the same. If he truly is doing this for the kids, he would remember that his presence at the game is more important than his questioning of calls and total disregard for the rules. Rules are put in place for a reason. He chooses to be a part of an organization that falls under the Little League International umbrella. Therefore he should follow the rules and restrictions placed upon him by that organization and its officials...including local representatives. Yes, he is a volunteer coach, but he was arguing with volunteer umpires that traveled a good distance to umpire a game. They also volunteer their time for the good of the kids...and they get nothing win or lose. They do the best job that they possibly can. Umpires make mistakes just like players and coaches do. When was the last time you heard an umpire yell at a coach for leaving a pitcher in too long...or calling for a steal that did not work? When volunteers are used, mistakes will be made all around. This coach as well as everyone else involved needs to learn to respect the game and not blow little things out of proportion.
I agree with you 100%. I was being somewhat sarcastic when I said don't be too hard on him, he is a volunteer. People who act like this or condone it always use this as an excuse. He is a volunteer or he is out there for the kids sake. This is exactly why I pulled my kid out of league ball and found a select team with a coach that would never dream of such behavior on the field. If he did I as a parent would not tolorate it. I want my kid to develop into a great ball player as well as a great person. Behavior such as this only ruins the game and the kids.
 8.
The manager for Jasper 12 yr olds is suspended for the next 2 games as a result of his ejection and subsequent actions. This came out of Little League International. During a 9 yr old All-Star game between Jasper and West End He failed to show appropriate behavior  He hollered at and charged the plate umpire after a disputed play. He also ignored the penalty for the ejection by not leaving the Jasper ball park and  showing up to watch the next game held at West End. He was told to leave by the district administrator and ignored his authority to enforce the rules of Little League. I would hope that we are not in favor of behavior disregarding the authority of umpires and the rules that are in place. I for one want my children to recognize and respect authority figures not only during baseball but school, work, etc. I hope and pray that this experienced and talented coach learns some humility and learns to be a role model for the kids who are watching and listening.
Please don't be too hard on this guy. Remember, he is only a volunteer and has the kids best interest at heart.
proves my point...same 18 kids 10/11/12....... anyway, that was an very good group of ball players..what, there was 18-19 all-stars and alternates...10-12 of em legit all stars, altho, if you have a broken arm for most of the year, you shouldnt automatically be an all star-great kid tho-..a couple of the alternates played far better during the year than some of the starters and the usual 5 that shouldnt have been selected at all..sorry cant give kids names here...want initials?  did not have allstar years---b.c.,d.d.,q.m., both j.t,w.l....j.d. was hurt most the year...a.h. shoulda been a starter...
Rules say you have to play 60% of the season to be eligible for all-stars but no one checks that... kids out w/broken hands, fingers, toes etc cuz get hurt in select tourneys & can't participate in league yet can make all-stars... some of same kids/others do not practice for all-stars yet start/play every game... when I grew up No Practice - No Play (except mandatory time)...
Wow!  Sounds like you and FPHS should get on the board and straighten this mess out.
As long as you're dealing with "League Allstars" it never will be fair to all. You have to just face the facts and deal with it. Anytime you have a coach who is "biased" towards certain players (good or average players), certain good kids will be left out or will make the team and be tossed aside just to get minimum playing time. This is exactly why I decided last year to dig deep into my pockets and find a select team for my kid and not deal with the league politics. I have found a local select team which has a hired coach and very little "Daddy Ball" influence. As long as you are dealing with young kids, you never will entirely get rid of the "Daddy Ball" but you can greatly minimize it. Find a select team who only accepts kids after a tryout and has no more than 10-12 players on the team. If your kid is good enough to make the team, he will get plenty of playing time. I know it is expensive and not everyone can afford it, but it is the only way to get away from the league "screwball" politics. Yes, run for office and see if you can make a difference. Maybe you can and the world will be a much better place for everyone. Well, accept for the kids who never should have been on the Allstar team in the first place.

 17. This is just some hypothetical thinking here. If by chance Bridge City plays OF in the next round, where would they play? I would think the first choice would be to have the entire series at Lamar (if available). If not where would they have it? Nederland? Nederland definitely has the best facilities (field, parking, hamburgers, etc.). I would love to see a series between these two top notch teams.
