It depends, you can say that tiger05. Silsbee is tridition rich in basketball. I do agree with what you are saying but it also depend on the team. In 2005 a group of young men from Orangefield who had never won at the lower levels. Never won period, made the playoffs for the first time in 56 years. Their schedule was weak but with each win they gained confidence. So in this case it worked. They even won a bi-district game and hung in there with your silsbee tigers until the second half. Teams that are not use to winning sometimes need that confidence. I am not saying that works all the time but it apparently worked for us. Not to mention we had a good coach that helps also.
You are correct:
Getting repetitive wins will boost confidence, which will help you play better
Plus having a good coach helps too

I would have to disagree Tiger05. HF hasn't "gone up against" any teams that they haven't seen before. They have been playing the same teams that they play in district since Little Dribblers. I understand that some players develop faster and/better during the transition from Little Dribblers to Middle School to High School but I know that just as other teams have developed so has HF. Again, the teams that HF has played whether preseason or district are nothing that they aren't used to. Their rhythm has nothing to do with who they are playing. It's an inside job.

To obtain a rhythm I would think you would have to have some repetitiveness in practice and in playing high caliber teams before district
If the answer to my assessment was No than can you answer these questions:
1. How many teams has your team played before district
That best resembles the best teams in your district
2. Does your team continuously play the same level of competition even after basketball season

It's really sad when you have talent on a team and they aren't "allowed" to play basketball until the fourth quarter when the game is already somewhat out of reach. I believe basketball is somewhat of a rhythm sport and you can't get into a "rhythm" just in the fourth quarter. It has to start in the beginning (first quarter) and continue through the end of the game. Yes, you have to allow room for error and yes you also have to correct some errors but I don't feel that one turnover or one bad pass or one foul or one missed shot is a reason to pull a player. If the broadcast is still up you can watch the Silsbee vs HJ game and see that there were numerous turnovers just in the first quarter/half on both sides but the "rhythm" set in and players settled down and got it together. I really hope a "change gon come" SOON at HF. Believe it or not the HF teams can hang with the best of them.

I think that if HF would have played some tougher competition before district it would have helped them out some.
Take Legacy for example that is undefeated in district play
HF will need to play some tougher competition if they want to compete with Silsbee & HJ
List of a few teams HF played before district:
Liberty
Deweyville
Tarkington
Deweyville
Buna
Milburn Academy
Sabine Pass
Vidor
It is hard to get in a rhythm when you are going up agianst something you have never seen before

Ronald Barrett 11 (3/4 from 3 point line)
#20 Barrett made all of those points in the 1st half
so I am wondering why was he on the bench the 2nd half ??? -
