  4. Pensacola, FL— Danick Bouchard had two goals, including the first of the game 4:16 into the first period and the Wildcatters (3-1-0-1) never looked back en route to a 7-0 South Division victory Friday night in Pensacola. Bouchard slammed a one-timer from Marco Rosa past Pensacola goaltender Doug Groenestege to begin the scoring for the Wildcatters less than five minutes into the contest. The game remained a one-goal Texas advantage for nearly ten minutes of play until veteran John McNabb found the back of the net with a power play goal at 13:57, taking a feed from Rosa and teammate Dan Welch. Former University of Michigan defenseman Tim Cook scored his first professional goal for the Wildcatters off a feed from Ross Carlson less than three minutes later and the ‘Catters would take a commanding 3-0 lead into the first intermission. The Wildcatters continued to find ways to score in the second period as Carlson, a tenacious penalty killer, slipped past the Ice Pilots defense to steal a shorthanded goal for Texas 8:05 into the stanza. A trio of Texas rookies combined to widen the lead as Brandon Benedict scored on the man advantage at 15:13. A.J. Thelen and Scott Champagne were attributed helpers on the goal and Texas would carry a 5-0 lead into the third period. Benedict would return the favor to Thelen as Thelen gathered his second point of the night on his first goal of the season when he struck at 12:44, increasing the Texas lead to 6-0. Bouchard’s second goal of the night rounded out the scoring for the Wildcatters. Jonathan Paiement, who finished +3 on the night, gathered the assist as the ‘Catters power play struck for the fourth time in ten chances. Pensacola mustered only 19 shots on the evening but pressured Texas goalie Peter Aubry several times as the 30-year old goaltender collected the first Texas shutout of the season. “We played very well defensively tonight,†said Texas Head Coach Malcolm Cameron, “Peter played a great game, but the guys did a great job of keeping their players to the outside, blocking shots, and not giving up odd-man rushes.†“I’m very pleased with tonight’s effort, but it’s just one game out of 72. They’ll bring their best shot at us tomorrow and we need to be ready.†Since their season-opening loss at Augusta the Wildcatters have yet to lose again in regulation, going 3-0-0-1. The Wildcatters and Ice Pilots face off again tomorrow evening at 7:05. The game will be available on B2 Networks Pay Per View or check out the live audio feed by following the link to B2 Audio on wildcattershockey.com.
  5. I hate how they turn the lights out just as soon as the game ends. The staff must have trouble doing their jobs because they can't see in the dark.

I have every reason to expect him to fit in well with our up-tempo style of play here in Texas. We’re very excited about this kid.†Taylor, 23, comes to the Wildcatters after four outstanding seasons at St. Lawrence University (NCAA). In 2006-07, Taylor registered 13 goals and 18 assists (13-18-31) in 39 games for St. Lawrence. An energetic center from Ottawa, Taylor is the younger brother of former Texas goaltender Danny Taylor. 16. [Hidden Content] Defenseman Adams Joins Wildcatters Family John Adams Brings AHL, Frozen Four Experience to Texas BEAUMONT, TX (September 24, 2007) –Texas Wildcatters Head Coach and V.P. of Hockey Operations Malcolm Cameron announced Monday that John Adams has been signed to a contract for the 2007-08 season. Per team policy, terms of the deal were undisclosed. Adams, 24, comes to the Wildcatters having split time his first two seasons between the ECHL and AHL. A third-round draft pick (#82 overall) by Buffalo in 2002, Adams spent 42 games with Florida in 2005-06 and 41 with Johnstown last year. He has registered 109 PIM and 33 points (6-27-33) across two ECHL regular seasons. Adams did not register a point in two playoff games with Florida in 2005-06. Add his ECHL time to four separate stints in the AHL, including 16 games with Springfield last season, and the Wayzata, MN native brings plenty of professional savvy to the Wildcatters roster. “John’s American League experience is very valuable, especially as a defenseman,†said Cameron, “He’s been well-coached throughout his career and is accustomed to a culture of winning. He’s a great addition and we’re very happy to have him.†Adams played NCAA hockey at Boston College, joining the Eagles in 2001 following their most recent national championship. Adams registered an impressive plus/minus of +47 and tallied 24 points (6-18-24) while patrolling the blue line for 136 games over four seasons. Though the Eagles did not repeat as champions during his tenure, Adams did play in the 2004 Frozen Four. Boston College lost 2-1 to Maine in the National Semifinal and the experience is still with Adams today. “Just incredible, to play on that type of stage in front of 19,000 fans,†said Adams, “You learn a lot about yourself, how to keep your emotions in check and play the big games like you play all the rest.†Adams is attending camp this week with the Houston Aeros. While he hopes that 2007-08 will be the season he finally sticks in the AHL, he’s glad his ECHL hockey will be played with Texas. “There’s a good program in place here. It’s an honor to be part of the Minnesota Wild organization, be it at the AHL level, ECHL level or ideally someday in the NHL.†The Texas Wildcatters are the proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild of the NHL and the AHL’s Houston Aeros.
