  1. The coach was in over his head. moving from a solid 2A to a 4A with unreal tradition and trying to run the same stuff. The real loss was when Erwin moved to Flowermound Marcus (i think) after their 2006 state championship. This coach seems to be a good fit. The kids work for him and they showed last night that they are going to be OK in the years to come. The program was left in a mess after 2007, as both the coach and some in the town didn't help the situation much. Remember, they were playing a freshman QB and RB last night.
  2. who did ya'lls freshmen lose to??
  3. Thats funny right there Last time Bronco Stadium had 5,000 fans in it was when the 20 4A teams played there last year!! I'll bet they had it this year against Crosby.... they certainly weren't all from dayton though
  4. dayton helped a little... 12+ dropped balls, along with some bad throws.... Friendswood is not great on D and even their fans would tell you so. Dayton did not have the running game going yet when they played them... LaMarque did. Fwood's only loss was to a RUNNING team (angleton). this game was televised in the Houston area... Friendswood tackled poorly and was basically outran at times... Now that offense... that's very, very REAL.
  5. we are off topic. just seems silly to start ANOTHER dayton thread. wow.. I have been out of the loop for quite some time and I am now trying to catch up.. this is crazy.. what on earth are bronco "supporters" speaking such negative things about the leader of their team for? bronco1 - are you not a green fan? I'm not even from the area and have heard only great things about him.. I'd think that the local fans would feel the same way.. what's really going on? bronco1 didn't say anything negative... I think a few dayton fans voiced some lofty expectations and others are a little more sold on how good cody is than those fans. Nobody wishes he wasn't QB... I think everyone knows the sky is the limit and would like to see him keep heading that direction.
  6. Thanks for the compliment 88....you must have seen it at the track a time or two. I usually just let people find out about it for themselves. I like that older body style. Most anyone that drives those nowadays has got a little sumthin' under the hood.
  7. Whatever benefits Lumberton the most is what will happen. Listen to him.... he knows what he's talking about. nah... to answer the original question... they would go to head to heads in which case, lumberton would be the higher d2 and Central would be the higher D1 Dayton plays the d2 #2 seed regardless
  8. dayton didn't you have alittle trouble this summer, sounds like you had a little problem also. more than a little... I think the broncos have rallied nicely.
  9. Got me... I am a longhorn fan and that game hurt. Don't know anything about Everman I am assuming houston area ? I pull for underdogs when 2 local teams are playing but always pull for area teams in playoffs . Yall are usually one of the last teams in and I don't see any reason why that would change this year ( if you dont believe me ask your fans ;D). 20-4A in my opinion is down this year but who knows. I'm thinking more centex?
  10. 2 Things: 1. Even a Cowgirl sees the problem on offense! This is the problem, Stewart changed, Burnett is not changing. 2. Long Brothers? Do you mean the Colburn twins? They were the WR combo Dustin Long's Sophomore and Junior seasons. The year they went to state Long had a whole new batch of WR's (Baxter, Norton, Lumbley and one other I can't remember). The Colburn twins last game was at Lamar against you guys and it was a great game. Real barn burner. You guys ran on us with Roberts and Dakari Pearson and we threw to the big twins all night long. In the end Dakari was just too much! What a fun game to watch. It was Edwards.... Good post though. Glad we didn't get you guys the next year... we were a little down in 2000.
  11. stallworth may be booked from what I hear.
  12. Hmmm...let's see...they made a commitment to the team and then they broke it. I'm sure everyone has a wife who would understand this: "but honey, I had free tickets to the strip club." Think you'd be "suspended for one quarter" in that scenario?? FOr the season would be more likely ;D It would be a lifetime ban for me!!! :o
  13. What line are you talking about??? Look for the Raiders to play like their lifes depended on a win.
  14. IF thes boys skipped practice to go to an NBA game then it is a MUCH bigger problem than a one game suspension-------they have no respect for the coacing staff, their team mates or their community---IF THIS IS ACCURATE then I would suspend them for the balance of the season ouch.... i think that's a little extreme. I see where you're headed with them thinking they are bigger than the TEAM... but..
  15. That's the reason I assumed he was the same QB. He was elusive and turned a number of sacks into positive yardage including one big gain that I remember. I think he had 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles but I'm not 100% on that. same QB as last year. He was elusive last year and I'm sure is only better this year. Dayton fortunately was able to force him to throw last year.
  16. Got it...number 8 from 1991 was, interestingly, Simone Pearson...guess it runs in the family huh? oh yeah... and #11 was Curtis Trousdale still... besides the last 4 or 5 years. has dayton ever really been in this much of a passing offense?
  17. not one of the throws that I was talking about. but that was #6 Cameron LaCour.
  18. we are off topic. just seems silly to start ANOTHER dayton thread.
  19. what 5 passers would you put ahead of him? I'm only 27 and can't remember that many. Dakarai was the best RUNNING QB at Dayton. didn't throw much (wishbone offense, i believe)
  20. He's highly recruited because he's got two things you can't coach...size and speed. It's one thing to "miss" as in "not see" receivers that are open because you've only been playing quarterback for two years. It's another thing to miss a wide open receiver you do see because of another thing you can't coach and that's the ability to throw the ball accurately DOWNFIELD. He's a top notch quarterback and makes our offense hard to stop...but he does have shortcomings. I just have a bad feeling it will show up in a close game (we haven't had many of those remember) when he misses a wide open receiver on a crucial play. Gregory Charles threw a perfect 20 yard out against Texas City in the playoffs last year. He also threw the post and the corner routes well. He may not be a better overall quarterback but he was better throwing the ball downfield. Not saying I don't want the kid...he's a great kid as well. I just hope he lives up to some of the inflated expectations. I agree he does have shortcomings. I also think he has been recruited because he has a big time arm. But he has made some great throws as well like 2 fades against Bay City, some nice posts to Ploch and has connected on some lasers that went 45-50 yds in the air against GP, C.E. King, etc... Greg also had some crucial mistakes... a couple of big picks on forced throws against LT and Waller. I think when we look back on the season, (hopefully at Christmas) we'll be pleased with the progression we saw out of cody. And, I predict he'll make some big plays with his arm in the playoffs. BTW, I know you're not ragging the kid. Just discussing.
  21. C'mon bronco1...you're embarrasing the bronco faithful here. It's inconsistEnt and yes he is inconsistent. He overthrew AJ on the first play of the CE King game...missed three wide open receivers against Galena Park including one-hopping at 12 yard in-route. His downfield throws are very inconsistent and he bolsters the completion percentage with a lot of short passes. As a passer, Gregory Charles was a better quarterback but he can't run like Cody can...well few can run like Cody can. He's a high school quarterback. He's got 2 years of playing QB under his belt, so comparing him to Gilbert and Karam like someone did earlier is not a good comparison as both have been playing QB for at least 6 years and coached for longer than that. He missed 3 open receivers??... you'll see that with almost any QB you watch at any level. Also, Cody makes throws that typical high school QB's cannot make (i.e. 20 yd out) and that includes Greg (who did a great job btw). Our receivers also drop some of those downfield and short routes as well which drop his completion % (12 drops vs. Fwood), so it kinda evens out. I think we expect him to play like the players on sat. and sun. because he is so highly recruited. Just give him some time. It's undeniable that he is much improved as a runner AND a passer since the beginning of the year.
  22. Good interview with Credeur!! I like his approach.
