  1. gilmer will be playing round ball early in 2015

Gilmer has a lot of talent on defense for next year including the defensive player of the game yesterday in Demarco Boyd. They have a very good QB to take Carters place. If you watched warm ups you can see how well he throws it. He is also an added running threat which Carter wasn't. He will look more like the WOS QB. Gilmer losing some great skill players but they are deep with Soph and Juniors to fill in. Not as explosive next year but they will make a run. Oh and Traylor + staff can really coach. Great program!
  2. I guess there are many reasons for the loss, but one thing no one can lay blame on, and that was the performance of Jack Dallas. That young man never stopped performing all year. I can think of 1 common denominator to the 2000 lose and the 2014 loss, though. What are your thoughts?

Very impressed with that QB. He killed Gilmer in the first half scrambling for 1st downs on a couple of 3rd and long situations to keep drives alive. He was better than expected and quite frankly it seemed to catch Gilmer off guard. WOS will win many more games over the next 2 years with that kid at QB!
  3. Honestly coaching wasnt a factor at all for them. They had the game won. They gave the game away. Dropped balls, fumbles , etc. yes gilmer won but WOS was the better team. They made costly mistakes

Lol. Gilmer completely dominated the 2nd half (28-0) after a slow start. That is what CHAMPIONNS do. WOS thought they had it won at half. Gilmer didn't flinch. They punched back and dominated the 2nd half.
  4. Realistically it should be a great game not a 30 to 40 point blowout like NET people say. I don't think you can find one WOS poster who has said that WOS will blow out Gilmer. We all are being realistic on this game. Two great teams battling for the title. It's sad when a team makes it to the championship game only to be told that they have no chance what so ever by the other team or fans from teams that are sitting around wishing they were in our shoes. I myself like to mix it up a little but, man some of the comments are just un called for. I expect a tight game, not a blowout!

It isn't a knock on WOS but if Gilmer doesn't turn the ball a blowout is very likely. I am not from Gilmer but follow them over the years. This is their most explosive team. Until you see them you won't understand. WOS can win if they play their best game and get some breaks. If they beat Gilmer I will come back and eat my crow. If Gilmer blows them out you come back and tell me I was right. Have a safe trip. See you all tomorrow. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
  5. I had to get off smoakey! Those people from up north are something else. What I found was that most people from Gilmer have been fairly realistic but those bandwagoners, are like talking to a box of rocks. I hope the Mustangs come out and pop gimer right in the kisser early so we can set the tempo! "SILVER AND BLUE, SETX IS SUPPORTING YOU" GO MUSTANGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is realistic? It is no different than the WOS people acting like they are the 86 Bears defense. Both fans feel good about their team. Reality happens tomorrow.
  6. MY LAST POST ON GILMER AND WO-S.i am NOT GOING TO KID MYSELF gilmer is one hell of a high school team no one can take that away from them just look what they have done to this point. gilmer has a outstanding and smart coaching staff as i have said before in some of my post i have put up. as dan hooks has said how do you stop a run away train(SMART ON FEAR DEFENSE) for starters and we here at wo-s has one of the best defense coaches around in coach thompson, he has been there and seen the best around .now then thompson is the head man and his mustangs have seen lot of very good teams in the playoffs and his mustangs will face maybe the best in gilmer.this game brings to mind the wo-s ,richmond foster game a team that had super kids all over the field you name it FOSTER had it as we saw that night.then this comes to mind ,if you watched the movie FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS this is what the mustang are going up aginst friday.gilmer is very GOOD in skill positions the boyd kid is something to be hold outstanding skills if wo-s cant stop gilmers screen passes going to be a long day but on the other hand if the mustangs play smart football who knows how this will turn out ,the scary thing is the kids from wo-s has not a thing to lose just go out and send gilmer a message. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL POSTERS

Best post yet! Merry Christmas! Gonna be a great game
  7. You need to move on, you are irrelevant. I don't know where you're from but I think you need to get to a basketball board. Believe me I know Gilmer is not LaGrange.

LOL. When the score is posted Friday many will think it is a basketball board. Gilmer will put up those kind of points.
  8. I hope our competition has gotten us ready for this week. I was really disgusted to see the ineptness of LaGrange, especially after all the hype Dont use the word overrated, it wont touch it. LaMarque also but at least they showed up in the first half. One sportscaster in Houston last night said Gilmer has got a rude awakening coming and that is very possible. Good luck Mustangs and strap it tight, this is Gilmer, not LaGrange.

You are right. This isn't LaGrange so don't expect the same result in terms of points. There is a rude awakening coming if you think this is the 2nd coming of LaGrange.
  9. Thanks for your feedback, nawww I think we have "The eye of the Tiger" in this one. We will hold them to 21 or under. I have that feeling. :)

That feeling you have is just indigestion 😄
You WILL NOT hold Gilmer to 21 or under. I will take on that bet all day. You name the price? Easy money for me
  10. Gladewater WAS NOT undefeated, but nice try...

And correct me if I'm wrong, but LaGrange was ranked #2 just behind Gilmer in the final rankings... We beat them 42-7 and LaMarque was 5th, 34-0. I believe HJ was ranked 8th when we played them, 42-21. We manhandled the good teams we played. Gilmer struggled with them.

You need to learn reading comprehension. I said GW was UNDEFEATED IN THE TOUGHEST DISTRICT! Go look. That went undefeated in the toughest district. I don't really care what you did against LaGrange, LaMargue and HJ. SETX teams are not as strong as ETX teams. Also, let's talk about what you did against Foster and Newton (a 3A team). Gilmer is undefeated for a reason. Nobody can have a discussion with you because you only want to talk about games you won and not the ones you lost. Then you criticize Gilmer's schedule even though that beat 8 teams with winning records and are blowing out ranked teams in the playoffs. UNDEFEATED now and will be UNDEFEATED after Friday. Talk to you again Friday!
  11. You boys accusing Gilmer of playing a weak schedule are in for a rude awakening. Just look at the last 3 playoff opponents. All highly ranked teams. Scored 41 on Gladewater who was undefeated in the toughest district in 4A, scored 64 on Atlanta(starters say most of 4th) whose only lose was to Gladewater, scored 67 on Celina(starters on the bench in the 4th). That is an average of 57.3 points with subs in the game of two 4th quarters.
If Gilmer doesn't turn the ball over and the starters play the entire game they will hang 50+ on WOS
  12. its the aassumption he said we can't match their speed when he hasn't even seen us. IMO speed does not determine the winner of this game mistakes will.

That wasn't an assumption. That was after watching some film on Hudl. And you are right speed doesn't determine the winner. I said the same thing. If Gilmer doesn't turn it over they will win. You may get a couple of stops but I don't think you hold them under 40. If you do you will be the first and I will eat some crow and congratulate you. Admit my sins.
If you lose or can't match the speed you come back here and admit it afterwards. Deal?
  13. He's right guys. Give it up. The Stangs besides Deionte are slow and not in good shape. Speed has been the problem every single year for WOS. Why dont the best athletes at the high school play football? It's over. Crown em

    .

I haven't seen one person accuse WOS of being slow. Actually quite the opposite. I did see a WOS poster say Gilmer's line was big and slow. Don't know what team he was watching, Gilmer's line is smaller to average on size but very quick.
  14. Gilmer IS NOT unbeatable. We should not even talk about them in this category. Like LaGrange, they spank teams that don't match up with them. Again, like Lagrange, when they've played teams who can match up, they've had close calls. Tatum, who lost to HJ, took them to OT if I'm not mistaken. Gladewater, had them beat, with a kid running free down the sideline and slides down thinking he needed to make sure he didn't stop the clock, but he had a TD and the game would have been over. Yes, Gilmer won those games like good teams do, but so had LG until they ran into the Stangs.

I am not from Gilmer but I was at both games you mentioned. Gilmer beat Tatum in regulation. They led Tatum 27-7 at half Gilmer turned it over 3 times in the second half and that is how Tatum got back in the game. It was early in the year and Gilmer is playing at a much higher level right now. Tatum was a very good team by the way. Don't kid yourself. Ask Newton? The Gladewater game was amazing. Gladewater would be the State Champ is they didn't play Gilmer. They have the best running game in all of 4A and a very stout defense. Gilmer found a way and that is what great teams do.
I have seen several Gilmer and WOS teams over the years. Have not seen WOS this year. However, if Gilmer DOESNT turn the ball over they will win. This is the most explosive team they have had in the Traylor era. WOS may have a few guys that can run with Gilmer but you WILL NOT MATCH their overall team speed. WOS can win if they produce turnovers because it is the great equalizer. If both teams play a clean game I don't see Gilmer getting beat. Best of luck to both teams. I can't wait to see this game.
  15. Not sure if our town is close enough to be considered SE Texas but you could definately throw Bullard's Minta Spears in the mix. She is a scoring point guard for Bullard who will be a combo guard in college. Several D1 offers already. Coach Tidwell could tell you about her as I know he saw her play as a Freshman. I have never seen a kid work as hard as she does on her game. Great kid!

They will be in for a fight next game......  I still think Madisonville wins the region.

You are right about the next game. Rudder will have a tough test with Bullard. Madsionville plays Fairfield in the other game. Bullard matches up well with all 3 teams and has the best point guard of the bunch so I will take them in 2 close games.
