1.
I know this goes against form since it's not a thread about the SFA women's soccer program.
Why you hating on SFA.... the girls that are playing collegiate soccer all started some where else... maybe it will inspire the younger 3A 4A 5A or 2A players to strive for something and achieve when they can see a contemporary player achieve some success. ms prince  is arguably one of the best female players to come out of Beaumont to date with many more on the horizon( I have spent several hours at the Quinn Indoor and have witnessed some very talented kids). I know it inspired Zuri to see older players like Neresa Taylor and Lori Tebeaux (sp) ( no kin to Tim)  go on to play in college. I will say it is quite a bummer that most of the current post are authored by me and do involve SFA but we do have a lengthy history with soccer in the Golden Triangle over the past decade and a half and I guess  I am one of the few people in the neighborhood who has something  to say about soccer right now ..  you could have left the SFA comment off your otherwise quality post and with that said keep the Haterade in the bottle! ps. You only have to deal with SFA post for two more years after this season because she is a sophmore.. but then you may have to get use to WPL post cause Houston South Select was dieing for her to play this past summer and who knows  there maybe WPL Elite posts after that.  ;D
2. I have one or two you can have. been real lucky for some reason ( Thank God !) we never catch herds of them on camera. I think our deer are kicking their butts! I have seen a total of 3 all summer and only one lingering as of late.
3.
Me too.  I've heard that all Campbell leases were going to either MLD or LAMPS next season.
Our lease which is Campbell controlled has been on LAMPS for at least 10yrs.. my understanding is Campbell is going to try to take us all through the progression of MLD to reach Level 3 eventually. My biggest concern this year was the fact we were all suppose to do camera and spot light surveys this past summer ( late August early Sept) to get a inventory of the herd to set allocations for harvest and I was curious to know who did their homework.
4. [Hidden Content] Both Zuri and Bailey played well... I told Bailey she stopped all the shots she had too... that was everyone Zuri took. I see a Re-Match coming at the SLC tournament for all the marbles.
5.

.Anything on scent blockers (doe pee, sprays etc..) or calls (antlers rattling or buck call etc..)?
I have mixed feelings about the effectiveness of scent blockers or eliminators but I still use them. I think if the wind is wrong where you are setting up it won't matter and if the wind is right, it also won't matter. It makes me feel better to use them sometimes though. As far as calls, they can work at the right time or they can be no help or they can hurt by scaring deer off. It all depends on location and timing. Deer seem to be curious and noises attract them many times. The real deal though is when the deer are in their rut. I have called in deer a couple of times but not often. I saw a pretty good big buck walking about 40 from my bow stand. He was checking out the feeder that I was near but kept on walking into the thick brush, walking away from me. I grabbed one of those doe bleat cans and hit is a couple of times. I sat in the ladder stand about 18 feet up and thought that I wouldn't see him again. A few minutes later I heard a twig snap. I looked below me and that buck was directly under my stand. He managed to come back to the exact spot of the sound of a (probably what he thought was) hot doe. Another time I was hunting in south Texas in a ground blind on a bow hunting day lease. I saw a buck walking away from me and rattles some horns a few times and then stopped. That buck stopped almost in his tracks and looked back my way. He then walked into the bush where I had a hard time seeing him but he made his way near my ground blind to see which bucks had invaded his territory. Those two times, I was in the right place at the right time that those sounds draw the bucks back in. Maybe other times it worked and the deer just came from an area that I never saw them. I will never know but those two times it was obvious. I think there are times that if the deer are not in the right mood, the sounds might scare them away if they are too close when you use them. I also think the buck to doe ratio might make a big difference also. If there are 6 does to every buck like on my east Texas lease for a good while (until we really thinned out the does) I believe the sounds of does in heat or fighting bucks is less effective. In other areas where it is close to 1 to 1 or 2 to 1, there is huge competition between bucks and the sound of fighting will bring them running. It just depends...........
Good Stuff TVC enjoyed the reading .
6. Anyone make the Co-op meeting in Jasper a few weeks back.. very interested in hearing what was said.
7. Anyone make the Jasper Co-op meeting a few weeks ago
8. That's my girl!!!!!! Go Bay! I see a Lamar vs SFA Match up for the Southland Tournament Championship! We will get a preview when Lamar travels to SFA this Sunday for a 1:00pm game.
9.
Parker played left back for his club team.  He also would step up to be left mid in club at times.  He is exactly where he should be.  GO PHIL
My bad... I only saw him as an attacking player at Kelly.
10. Did not make it to the game however I got my first post game call directly from the Head Coach and he asked me to stay away from the games for the rest of the season... reason to follow! [Hidden Content]
11. [Hidden Content] Coach Amato said it was Zuri's best game of the year. She had a beautiful bend it like Beckham far poster.. that people came from 60 yards away to tell me what a great shot it was... I tried to act all nonchalant about it like I have seen it many times..(lol) While inside I was doing cartwheels (yippie)!!!!!
12.
BTW, are you aware of this site? [Hidden Content]
Nice site Dave.... thanks!
13. Can you say taken to the wood shed?  3-0 first half 4-0 final.. out gunned out manned beat up. The old saying that when the going gets tough the tough get going surely applied here.... several of the otherwise would be stars.. just fail to show up when the competition level reaches the heights to which Baylor brings. Not knocking just disappointing when you get in a game of this magnitude those players fade.. There were three who played their butts off and I am proud to say that Zuri was one of them.. she proved to me and anyone their she can play on a High Big 12 level ( former teammate and Baylor student Claire "Bear" Dykeman said " Zuri played awesome") and there was one freshman defender and a old wily senior vet who left it all on the field they were both shutting down the best that Baylor could throw at them.... but their were some who win SLC first team and new comers who had little or no impact whats so ever. Dukeism  when it matters most... that did not show up in the big game. Baylor was Bigger Stronger and tenacious as I do not know what.. a competitive drive that would almost be considered nasty.. in a good way and many of our players could not match the physical attributes of the common Baylor player but what I was missing was that competitive ( although I walk through the valley of the shadow of death) spirit... Audey Murphy type stuff.. I am taking this hill if it kills me stuff... that is what was missing and disappointing... from our week to week would be stars. The outcome of the game would not change 9 of 10 games.. but you want to see folks play their best at all times.  Look out Big 12 Baylor is for real.. and I would hate to play OSU.. it would be ugly. so I have been returned to reality after beating Houston, Rice, TCU and being very competitive matches against Texas Tech and LSU.. the top of the Big 12 is a horse of a different color.
14. Going to Waco tomorrow for a very competitive game.  I hope the Dallas Cowboys do not ruin the trip up there!!!!
15.
Love seeing the local talent go at it at the next level!
Will be doing it for another 2.5 yrs.. Jeane with HBU entering the SLC there will be five area girls vying for the titles next year. Bailey Fontenot Lamar Natalie Hagar and Emily Hughes HBU Kaitlyn Stowe Sam Houston Zuri Prince SFA Who will be next to join them?
16. Great Job Nat!!! [Hidden Content] Did you read the Coach's comments... a tap in goal... Natalie is always in the right place at the right time.. it is her gift!!! Being able to read a situation and position herself to capitalize... I know a Big # 19 for SFA I wish had that same gift. Yikes! Good Luck Sunday Girls!
17. Checking Wake Forest Roster..... it's amazing how a college coach can take a perfectly good attacking player and make them a defender. Parker is listed as a defender. Amato did the same thing with Zuri but later found out she is best of front. It's hard to believe she is the only Kelly player representing the Women's side. Somebody needed to give the Men their props... Glad you took the lead SFA! Saw Christian in Houston at the HBU vs SFA women's game... I bet he is a beast!!!
18. Her father is too humble to post it.. but I am not!!!! ;D [Hidden Content]
19. [Hidden Content] Zuri played well but I missed 35 minutes of the first half including where she made head to head contact with another player trying to head a ball inside the Owl 6. It was kind of funny cause on the way to the game I had another parent texting me the updates while we sped to the game... And I quote (this is a female parent) OMG Very Physical Game. They are Big Strong and Pretty fast.  So as I arrive at the game I see one of Zuri's former teammates ( # 25 Rachel Petmecky) mother and I greet Mrs Petmecky ( based on the text info).... Hey Kathy whats up with the mean physical play ( just joking of course) and she said us? ITS ZURI THE ONE PLAYING ROUGH!!!!  kind of caught me off guard but in the back of my mind I am thinking that's my girl... matching the opponents intensity... One thing I have noticed about the bigger better schools.. you better bring your big girl underwear if you want to stay in the game. The bigger the school the bigger and stronger the athletes and the more they tend to use the physical advantages.. It was a great win for us! We have Baylor two weeks from this Sunday.
