I for one would Like Central To Play Lufkin or Cy-Woods..

Lufkin Because, we always use to play them 1st game of the season awhile ago

And CY-Woods because i wanna seee that nice stadium plus their a real good Team..
    Either team would be nice..

Plus Central will be the Under Dog in both Games, im sure..And thats when they play their best
The Berry Center is awesome.
  2. So I just got done reading the Brenham paper and it listed a couple of teams Brenham coach Glen West has talked to, about playing on there nondistrict schedule for next year.    "The cubs are almost certain they will play Houston Lamar".
"Brenham is looking at opening against Texarkana Texas High at The new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington"  "If we can find a marquee game closer, we would prolly take it.  If not, we don't have a problem playing there, it's a fun situation".
"During December rumors swirled that Lake Travis was looking to hire West, but it turns out the two schools were just discussing scheduling each other for 2010."

I know I wanted a hard schedule, but this might take the cake....

    Unofficial- Texas High
                  Houston Lamar
                  Lake Travis

If this goes though, what do you guys think?

If Vidor is still disappointed by not getting to play Crosby and is worried about there nondistrict schedule getting weaker, I'm sure Brenham and coach West wouldn't have a problem with scheduling Vidor.  From what I hear, they're a quality team and only Crosby has a problem with playing them.  Just a suggestion.
Could be that Vidor's too much competition for Crosby. The pirates are a team to be reconed with now. Dang good opponent. Would be great to schedule them.  ::)
That's what I hear, and that's what you want from your nondistrict schedule.

The playoffs are/were meant to be a reward for a job well done.  A 3-7 team is not, to me, an accomplished season.  But, a 4th taking out a 1st, well, I'm sure that happens a very, very few times.
But if it doesn't hurt anything, why not let them all go?  Why stop at 4?  Like I said, it used to mean something, now it's just a joke.
What doe it really hurt? What if it's a strong district, and the 4th place can take out the first place in another distirct? Shouldn't they get a chance at the playoffs?  I'm from a 3A school..so it doesn't affect me...I'm just wondering.

Good post, I totally agree.  The playoffs are a reward not a hand out.
I agree with u guys, 2 or 3 teams.  When you get to 4, atleast half the district has made it.  That's not much of a reward.  Unfortunatly I don't think it's changing any time soon.  I hope I'm wrong, but I guess only time will tell.
  5. I just wanted to let you know that it was a blast watching you guys these past 2 reginal finals, even if you guys took it to us in 08'.  You getting hurt against us this year was really unfortunate.  I hate to see somebody end their high school career with an injury.  One things for sure, both programs are well coached, very talented and are real class acts.  You have some real talent, so make your name known at the next level.  Congratulations on a great high school career.

Lets drop Crosby out of the SETX boundaries.  Keep Baytown, Huffman, Dayton area and draw a circle around them.   ;D
If your looking to replace them with a single school, Brenham would be happy to fill in...lol.   It's a huge stretch of the boundaries, but there's always exceptions....just an open suggestion.
I know the Cubs fans love to talk about their sports on the net.  Interesting concept, if the Chronicle considers you Southeast Texas, why shouldn't we!
Ya we do and I love this site.  It sucks being located in the middle of nowhere.  Too far from Austin, and only important to the chronicle when we are one of the last "Houston area" teams left in the playoffs.  That's sad, if this is all true about why they are dropping Vidor.  I guess well find out soon.

HaHa. Tyrone_CrackHead funny American! Crosby shut you out 28-0 and won district.  You and Bucking Buffalo go crawl back in your holes by train tracks in smelly town and get a life!
I am sure Crosby enjoyed watching Dayton play in the quarterfinals from the stands.
really it just makes us think......We could have won the region if we were DII.  If yall made it that far,
and we kicked your a$$.  Heck, we might have won state!!
Wrong again!!!  If you were D2 we would have put y'all out just likwe did in 08.  I know you remember that, and that was one of our less talented teams.  I've said it once and I'll say it again, Crosby is decent at football but not on the same level as Brenham and Dayton.  We play in championships, where Crosby exits in the 2nd round every year.  Come to think of it, I can't think of a sport where y'all are better than Brenham.  Crosby's goal is to make the 2nd round.  Brenham's goal is to win a championship.  Just making the playoffs, only satisfies you so many times, but I guess you can't expect much more than that from Crosby.  If y'all can't do anything with that QB in 2010,  I don't know if y'all ever will.
So let me get this strait......Brenham sqeaks by Dayton by 6 (30-24).... and Crosby rolls them by 28 (28-0 really is was 35. ref made a boo boo on a pick 6) ..... and your conclusion is Crosby would not had a chance at state because we would have played you.....OK....... not very good at reasoning or math are ya!!
Ya, that's just like Waller beating us, but losing to Dayton by close to 40.  Then we go on to beat Dayton by 6.  You can't go off of another teams score.  Thats just dumb.  It's flat out obvious that Brenham is better than Crosby.

In Karjackistan we know how to us spell check to make "opportunity" right.  You not have spell check in ice cream factory? No? You lose state championship game? Yes?  Maybe you come back to my country as pet monkey in circus.
    [/quote

Ya, but atleast we were there and it won't be the last time.  We arn't eliminated by 2nd year programs.  As for spell check, we have it, I just don't care to use it.  I don't need spell check to get my point across and this isn't my profession so theres's no need.  You mentioned circus monkeys;  Thats about the equivilant of Crosby football program, yes?  Just can't wait to watch Dayton run through y'all again.  You know that's coming, because last year was the 1 out of 12 that y'all win.  Who knows, maybe we can show you boys how to play football again in the playoffs.  Can't wait...
Ya how bout that?  We use the word "y'all" around this town.  It's a contraction, (2 words joined together using an apostraphie to shorten a sentence)  Is the education in Crosby lacking as much as the atheletic talent?  Anyways, we also relish in any opertunity that we get, to seperate the pretenders from the contenders every year.  I see your familiar with Blue Bell; Now only if you could learn to accept the failure and disapointment that Crosby puts you guys through every year.  Then again, if your a Crosby fan, your prolly used to losing by now.
Ya, Brenham is horrible huh?  9 players on that list, 50 playoff appearances, 37 district championships, 14 state appearances and 6 State Titles....."The baseball capital of Texas".     Ya, I guess if that resume makes you suck, then I guess your right....
You misunderstood me. I didn't say Brenham always sucked, just this year.
Actually, I believe were at #4 in the preseason poll and we have lots of starters returning from a team that went to the semi-finals last year.  I say "The baseball capital of Texas", because it's what's been posted throughout Brenham for years.  If you google "baseball capital of Texas," Brenham comes up.  That's why I said that.  Corpus Christi has dominated over the last decade though.

I did some research and over the past ten years I figured win% (total % .80 being .8 pts), Playoff wins (1 pt per), State Title Apearences (3 pts per), State Championships (5 pts per). Results below speak for themselves.

                 Points
    1 Newton 36.80
    2 Dayton 21.73
    3 KVille 21.68
    4 Jasper 19.63
    5 WOS 15.82
    6 Ned 12.65
    7 Central 9.59
    8 BC 8.61
    9 WBrook 8.50
    10 BHill 5.74
    11 EC 4.71
    12 PNG 4.61
    13 Sils 3.48
    14 PAM 2.51
    15 Lum 2.48
Great idea, with the point system.  I know Brenham isn't setx, but where exactly would we fall in your point system?  (I wanna make sure I don't miss anything)
Brenham would have been second on this list with 27.77 points.
    (6-5) (11-2) (14-2) (5-5) (9-2) (14-1) (11-2) (8-3) (8-5) (13-3) 21 playoff wins and 2 title appearances.
Just behind Newton who had 25 playoff wins, 2 title appearances and one State Championship.
Thanks.  PNG starts in the alamodome next year, right?

I dont see why BH did not hire BHFAN, he is such the expert at football.  What will be the determining factor in your opinion?  You have been screaming for playoff success then contradict yourself with that last statement.  You talk about Dayton and Crosby having no superstars, well neither does BH.  But if you ask any coach in the area, they will tell you that Dayton and Crosby have better athletes.  BH has overachieved in the past 10 years.  They have beaten some teams with more talent because of hard work by the staff and kids.
Just let it go man........it's a new age at BH.  Now if BHFAN does get hired, I want to be the mascot....please....LOL

I predict a district championship in 2010, with or without your so called "superstars".
Easy now...    Great hire, but I don't think I would predict a district championship, atleast untill they release the new alignment.  Prolly a playoff team in their first year with coach Gage, but district champs is prolly a stretch.  I do wish BH good luck, but region 3 seems to be getting better every year.  His success will also depend on how much the players are willing to buy into the new scheme, because from what I hear, it's quite different from the offense they run now.  Who knows, maybe we'll see the Hill playing around Thanksgiving.  One thing's for sure, it will definatly be interesting/fun to see how everything goes this year.  The countdown begins Feb. 1.
Amen.  Both teams return lots of talent and are favorites in the region, every year.  LCM, I believe is playing in the Brenham tournament this year,  are their any other teams from yalls area that will be there?  I like to get a preview of what we will see in the playoffs.  Keep an eye on Brenham SS, Drake Roberts.  This kid is only a junior but has been committed to Arkansas since his freshman year.  He has had offers to just about anywhere he wants to go.  Prolly the third best player I've watched at the high school level, behind only Slade Heathcott (Texas High 08'-09', also the first round pick of the Yankees) and Jon Peters (Brenham pitcher in the late 80's and also first high school athlelete to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.)
That Drake Roberts was solid last year. Hard to believe he is only a junior. Great baseball player. That Slade Heathcott is one the best high school players i have seen. Pitch and hits at top level. Nederland and Brenham will be top ranked in the state too.
Drake is a really good kid too.  I know him, because he dated my sister last year and he was always around.  Great player, polite and smart.  I remember him going 1-4 with a double and a RBI last year but he didn't want to go home because he had also struck out twice and he had been receiving text from his dad, saying, "you're a disgrace to your team!". "if you wanna be my son, you better start playing like it, and quit this strike out b.s.".  It's got to be hard knowing that, if you dont have a superstar-like game, every game, with atleast 2 or 3 rbi's, that your dad won't want you around.  It's sad to see such a great kid have so much on his shoulders.

BrenhamFan, how is your district shaking out this year? Will it be a cakewalk or will you have some competition?

Our district will be competitive with DIV 1 players from UT and Lamar throwing every Tuesday and Friday.

Souldn't be too hard other than Montgomery, who is usually pretty good and Magnolia who upset us both games last year.  Huntsville would be the other team I would pick to make the playoffs from our district.  Should be a good year.
