1. Beautiful facility!  About a 10-15mph wind blowing out to right.  Hour and half before the game and the stands are about 1/5 full.  Brenham will be the home team.
 2.

Apparently they did not tap into the "BH smarts pool" when they chose the new football uniform. I still can't believe those kids actually wear those things voluntarily.
Not even we at THE HILL can defend those uni's. They are UGLY!!!! hopefully this will be the last year for them and the football fashion police will select the next ones. ;)
As long as they arn't gay purple we will be alright ;)
I'm not a big fan of purple myself.  Pretty hideous color!
 3.
Scalpem, give it up man, they couldn't even make the conference tourney!!!!!!!! The other teams did 2 games better in conf play and got it done and did what they needed to do, if you cant make your own conf tourney u don't deserve to go to the NCAA tourney!!!!
Very well put, and 100% correct IMO. BTW on the UConn b-ball thing....  They made and won their conference tournament, while LSU's baseball team didnt.
 4. First pitch @ 7:30 from Mumford. If anybody wants to listen to the game, it will be on KWHI.com & also tsrn. Go Cubs!
 5. Game Day!  Big time players, make big time plays, in big time games...  Roberts, Bolcerek, Schlottmann, Walla, & our newest big time player Baker, (who is our hottest hotter at the moment.)  it's time to shine.;)  We've been here before, so our boys know what it takes.  Should be a great series.  Come on game time!
 6.

Apparently Mumford High has a new, beautiful sports complex largely donated by John Randle (of Vikings fame).
But it's still 1A. But, baseball is one of the few varsity sports they offer.
I would not care if it was 1A or 5A.... if the field is nice and has the seating..... why not.... classifications dont mean you have a great field... trust me, I know a lot of 4A and 5A schools that fields are really bad...
Does not have the seating, seats 750 - that is of course tine and the fan interaction could be a problem with this rivalry.
Exactly what I think...  Security will probably be extremely heavy.
 7. Fwstangs, I appreciate the support.  I agree, we have seen Greene twice this year and are 2-0 against him.  We havn't seen much of Kirkland, so I'm more concerned about him.  A venue that seats 750 for a team that probably has the best following as far as baseball goes, is crazy.  Especially mixing Brenham & Magnolia fans.  IMO, this is not a good idea and could get ugly.  There's no love lost between these 2 schools.  This is the same team that plowed our catcher over 2 years ago and then cheered as he got up with a broken nose.  I expect security to be beefed up more than usual, but I'm not sure that will help in a place that small.  Magnolia is playing some good baseball right now, so we have our hands full.  This will definatly be a tough and interesting series. Go Cubs!  Let's make our 16th trip to state, against our rival! (How sweet would that be) Coming for our 8th title, so we can pass Bellaire and SW San Antonio for most ever. (Currently tied at 7 with them)
 8. I wish Soriano wasn't on the DL.  He sucks in the field, but he can do some damage at the plate.
 9. Article from Banner Press... We almost got Minute Maid, but ended up with Mumford.... ??? ::) :-\ Can you say disappointment! Regional finals to be hosted by Mumford Tuesday, May 31, 2011 1:15 PM CDT The Brenham Cubs and Magnolia Bulldogs looked at playing their regional championship series at some of the biggest venues around, including Minute Maid Park, but will instead determine the Class 4A Region III championship at Mumford High School. Brenham (34-6-1) coach Jim Long said the teams looked at holding the best-of-three series at several collegiate stadiums, including Texas A&M, Sam Houston State and Rice, but none of those facilities could accommodate the series, and Minute Maid Park wasn’t available because the Houston Astros were inviting potential draftees to the stadium that weekend for workouts. So instead, the Cubs and Bulldogs will meet Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Mumford, a Class A school that features a $4 million facility. All three games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Long warned that the stadium includes seating for just 750, so fans should come early and bring lawn chairs. The Cubs are attempting to make their third consecutive appearance in the UIL State Baseball Championships after defeating Santa Fe in a three-game series over the weekend. Brenham won the first game 14-5 but lost Game 2 by a 1-0 score. The Cubs won the rubber game 18-7. Magnolia, which finished second to Brenham in District 17-4A, is coming off a sweep of Friendswood. Brenham defeated Magnolia 7-1 and 4-2 during district play.
 10.
I saw that the Brenham/Magnolia series will be played at "Mumford."  Now I have heard of some very out of the way places, but never Mumford.   I looked up on google maps and found a Mumford which is a 1A school about 15 miles northwest of Bryan.  Is that really the Mumford that they are talking about?  If so, why the heck are they playing there?
Ya, I can't believe it either!   I will be there very early to get a seat....   I know that for sure!  Well not sure how many spectators from other schools will be traveling that far out of the way to a 1A school.  Hopefully the coaches know what they are doing...  I also hope Long keeps the batting order the way he did in game 3 against Santa Fe.  Those changes were great, and helped us put up 18 runs.  Atleast there's no traffic from Brenham to Mumford! ;) :D
 11. No idea why it's at a 1A school NW of College Station....  Smh.   Waller's field isn't the best, but I'm sure it would have been better than than this.  (Not to mention it's closer to both and right in the middle)
 12. 4A REGION III CHAMPIONSHIP BRENHAM vs MAGNOLIA, 2 of 3 GAME-1, THURSDAY, 7:30 @ MUMFORD GAME-2, FRIDAY, 7:30 @ MUMFORD GAME-3, SATURDAY, 7:30 @ MUMFORD (I can't believe a game of this caliber is being played at a 1A school?!) This should be a very good series!  This is 17-4A's best, and dirtiest rivalry as far as baseball goes.  These 2 teams respect each other, but don't like each other.  Brenham won 17-4A, and Magnolia finished 2nd in the district.  Earlier this year Brenham won 7-1 in Brenham, and 4-2 in Magnolia.  In both games, Brenham faced Greene, and Magnolia faced Schlottmann.  If nothing else, I think 17-4A has proved it's region 3's most difficult district.  Brenham hasn't lost to a 17-4A team all year either.  The edge in pitching goes to the Bulldogs, while I would give Brenham the edge in offense.  Usually good pitching, trumps good hitting, but I'm making an exception this time for 2 reasons.... A.) Anything can happen in a rivalry! B.) As far as experience goes, Brenham defines playoff baseball! I'm taking Brenham in 3.  Co Cubs!
 13. 17-4A completed the sweep today, with Brenham's 18-7 victory.  This means an all 17-4A regional final, between Brenham & Magnolia.  In baseball, this is easily the districts biggest rivalry.
