Houston Chronicle- The Cubs are heading back to Round Rock. Powered by Chance Bolcerek’s three-run double in the fourth inning, Brenham (35-7) run-ruled fellow District 17-4A rival Magnolia (25-15-1) 10-0 in five innings on Saturday in Mumford to clinch the Class 4A Region III crown and defend last year’s state title. Brenham pitcher Eric Stegent played an integral role in the decisive Game 3 outcome, tossing a one-hitter to shut down the Bulldogs’ potent lineup and notch the complete-game shutout. Corey Bentke and Kevin Kubeczka also contributed RBIs in the rout. As a result of the victory,Cubs’ next matchup will be determined with the release of semifinal pairings Sunday.

Bad news is, our 1st baseman who leads the Houston area in RBI's probably broke his hand tonight, sliding back into 3rd.  Hopefully Walla will be ok, and can finish his senior season.  It didn't look good though...

Stegent dominates Game 3's!  He threw a no-hitter in game 3 against PNG, picked up the win in game 3 against Santa Fe and now he just threw a 1-hitter in game 3 of the region final!  Somebody get this man a scholarship! Go Cubs! 16th trip to  state....  Now let's see if we can bring home our 8th State Championship!

Magnolia beat Brenham last night 3-2, to tie the series 1-1.  Brenham is a win away from their 16th tournament appearance. (This would be their 3rd straight) Magnolia has already made it further than they ever have. (Before this they had only been to the regional semis) Magnolia pitched Wendel last night, so they should be throwing Kirkland tonight.  Brenham will probably counter with Stegent. (Stegant has 2 game 3 wins this year, including a no-hitter against PNG.) Brenham could also throw Nutt, who is 7-0 this year, or go with Jacobs.   First pitch @ 7:30 from Mumford Go Cubs!

Brenham won 10-2 in game 1, and now leads the series, 1-0.  One more win and Brenham will be making it's 16th trip to the state tourney.  This season we're 3-0 against our rival Magnolia, but we havn't seen Kirkland yet.  I've watched him pitch twice this year, and while he doesn't throw as hard as Greene, he seems to mix it up better.  Pretty good off-speed pitches.  I expect this game to be a lot closer. First pitch is @ 7:30 from Mumford.  I can't help with updates, because Randle didn't spend any extra $ on towers, but if anybody wants to listen online, the game will be broadcasted on KWHI.com & TSRN.com  :D Go Cubs!

Hour before game time, Brenham side is full.  Magnolia side about 1/4 full. Apreciate the support admin, and everybody else that is pulling for us.
