Move in students will be eligible to play under two circumstances: 1. Having being full-time enrolled by the sixth day of the current school year 2. Being enrolled for 15 days prior to the athletic event (student is eligible to participate on the 15th day). This is from Sections 400 and 404 of the UIL rules book.

So basically a move in student that enrolls and attends at the beginning of the school year (between Aug 27th and Sept 1st for HD) is eligible to play immediately. The 15 day rule is for kids that move in to a new school district during the middle of a semester. (actually anytime outside of the first six days of fall class).

So these particular student athletes will be eligible to participate in HD vs. Hardin on Aug 31st as long as they are enrolled in school that first week of class. No 15 day waiting period.  ;)
That's what I mean.  I'm thinking they might be enrolled now.  That's what I thought was being implied anyway.

They are not transfers, they are move ins. Had nothing to do with athletics. May not be studs, but a quality player at a 5A school (even a bad one) will be a good player at the 1A level.
Exactly right HDBobcat9, they are move in's. They will miss first two games. UIL rule.
I think it's 15 days starting the first day of enrollment.  HD's still in school...have they officially enrolled yet?
Yes. And they will miss our first two games, UIL rule.
May want to double check that.  I think it's 15 calendar days..
    I've been wrong before.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, wait. If they transfer in and are not seniors, they must play JV.   See Shante Allen.  I am pretty sure this is the rule.

And pump the breaks on the "stud" talk.  I remember these "stud" transfers you said HD had coming from Anahuac a couple years ago.  Those boys couldn't chew bubble gum and walk at the same time.
not if they didn't move for athletic purposes.
Doesn't matter what the reason is that somebody moves.  If they transfer school's and actually "move" the the school's district (change their pernament address to an address inside the school district) then they have to sit out 15 days.  If they transfer school's but do not move inside the school district, then they have to sit 1 calendar year.

Why is everyone acting like Hardin hasn't been getting the attention they deserve from the last AD. Haynes Has an incredible record, most of it at the 4A/ 5A level, and he was the coach when they won the only playoff game in school history, oh and by the way he was also the QB for the only district champ in school history. He was at every home athletic function icluding the girls hornetmom, and not to mention this place was a dump before Haynes showed up, I was here I remember, now we have some of the nicest athletic facilities in the state for any level much less 2A and thats includes the work he had done at the baseball and softball fields. No offense to Fortune but if Larry Haynes can't score points with em no one can
That's absolutely right.  Coach Haynes is the winningest head coach in the school's 70 year history...and they ran him out of town.  I think the folks at Hardin (much like everywhere else) are just too unrealistic.  There is no question that a great coach can do great things. And there is no question that Hardin may could have done better than they have in the past.  But bottom line... you cant win a horse race without a horse, and you cant win football games without some good players.  Hardin has had an unfortunate history of playing against some tough competition.  Even when Hardin strings together a couple of years with a lot of talent.  No matter how good of a coach Coach Fortune may be...Hardin still has to deal with some very talented teams.

LP6 Liberty is a 3A and H-D is a 1A. Liberty has never been a football school. Heck, most of the Liberty teams won maybe 3 games a year, up until the 90's. Every once in a while Liberty would get a stud and ride him to a first round exit in the playoffs. And yes Liberty for years has lived in the shadow of all the football championships HD has won.(Including the only State Championship in Liberty County) And for you to call those top players out at H-D and say they won't play college ball is wrong. Tyler Drake lead that team in TD's and in many peoples eyes was the best player. Heck Drake ran for 6 td's in one game. I believe Drake will play college ball, and Chris Taylor has the size to also. H-D would have beat Liberty in football all the way up until about the last 4 years. Now with Coach Finney here, H-D will be ready to play Liberty in 2 seasons, trust me.  ;) ;D Get over Liberty football, stick to tennis and golf. H-D and Dayton are the football schools in this County.  ;D 8)
We are the same now as we were prior to the past 4 seasons so your wrong, yes you are 1A and we are 3A but as far as you being able to beat us all the way up until 4 years ago is insane, you can be a "football town" Anthony Chamber would have ran circles around HD, Reggi White 1000 yard rusher at OKST would have ran cirlces around Hd, Tony Bua NFl player, and Donald Douglas ex Florida gator would all have ran circles around HD, all these teams were only 1 round exits sure, but that's not the topic, we were in 3 and 4 a not 1a, so just because you went to state in 1A doesn't mean a lick of anything just because Douglas didn't make it to STate, he Chambers, White, and all the others i mentioned would run through HD and thats all prior to 4 years ago,2003 Liberty went 10-0 state ranked and exited the first round but so what? HD didnt put us out of the playoffs, another 3A team did, we would have beaten HD in 2003,2004, the junior and senior years of Bua,White,Chambers Liberty would have beaten HD, 4a or 3a on some of those years just because we didn't make it far doesn't mean a single thing comparing your team to ours,  2004 Liberty won district  exited the 2st round yeah but they would have beaten Hd easily, And as far as last year no doubt we'd win, same as the year before, then the year before we weren't good no playoffs, but Texas State's FS Jeremy Dickey at QB along with Tevin Braxton and Martin Sterling would have been too much for the HD secondary to even cover, the year before that Jamarcus Glen would have run through HD, your comparing records in 1A to records in 3A they don't transcribe, I'm comparing players I personally seen play to some of your players I KNOW and have seen play such as monster of a running back Aaron Cook from HD great Athlete great runner, yes would have started in Liberty his senior year, but seeing him and his records then looking at Glen who had no where near the succes in his respected district, but knowing both the guys seeing them both play there about the same but Glen's competiton was harder, this is how im comparing the two, you on the other hand are talking out of you head based on "tradition" "past records"  and being a "footbal town" this is Texas sir, we are all football towns we all respect the game and we would have destroyed HD as a matter of fact the all time leading record favors Liberty, we have had more success at the next level and send more players to the next level, we aren't a powerhouse by no means, but we do have athletes that would have been able to get the job done against HD, maybe not 10 times out of ten in the last 50 years but for sure more times than HD would have, now to touch on the topic of Drake, yes good players I'll take back saying he won't play college ball, I hope he has great success in college but all im saying is 6tds or no 6tds at the end of the day Dennis Antoine is still a returning 1000 yard rusher as a sohpomore standing 6ft weighing 200 Drake wouldn't start you said Drake would "start both ways in Liberty" all im saying is that is not true, now with all that being said Liberty would dominate HD now, next year, the year after and so on, youll never ever be what you were.
Without a doubt the longest run-on sentence I've ever seen.

    To far apart aren't they?
I personally think they are too far apart even though the schools may not be far the people who go to Hardin and daisetta don't exactly live in the city. So this would make it very hard to combine and even if the distance wasn't a problem they never would combine
Hardin's school district runs over 20 miles north of the school...Liberty's runs west to the trinity river and south to the county line...Daisetta runs east to pretty much the Hardin county line...

Combining these schools would mean that there would pretty much be 1 school taking up almost the whole county.  I doubt that will happen....but I have been wrong before
  8.
Actually liberty is a lot harder than hd. You have to do more than show up to pass which is why hd gets more devers kids than libertys anybody whO has gone to both schools recently will tell you the same thing
Liberty classes may be more strict... but the above link shows Liberty and HD having the same academic rating.  That's based on state test scores, and everybody takes the same test.
  9.
Liberty would have won that district. Please name two schools in that district that could have stopped Liberty's offense.
I can name 3 teams that would have "produced more" offense than Liberty. East Chambers, Newton, Anahuac..  Buna may have been able too also.  You'll find out..  You guys play Newton and Buna next year.  Then we'll talk

First off I would like to apologize for not knowing Oklahoma Panhandle State was a D2. I also should not have joked about the name of OPS. If you remember correctly, I rooted for and bragged about your son on this very website for 4 years. He has never did anything negative to me. Also if you read my post, I never said his name or went after his play or character in a negative way. I even said it was good to see a kid get to play ball longer. I understand a parent sticking up for their son. Good luck to your son on the gridiron and in the classroom, I will continue to root for him and all Bobcats. See yall around town.
I appreciate your apology and accept it with good feelings.  I have a new subject for you.  I have heard that there will not be an athletic banquet this year.  It is my understanding the Seniors and the athletes that will be awarded awards will be invited to the honors banquet and the others will get a b.b.q. meal during school one day and a play day.  I feel all the athletes deserve recognition for their hard work, even if they do not recieve an award.  Our school has lost a sense of pride if they are not willing to honor all the athletes.
1st...OPSU is an NAIA school..  doesn't really matter the division, NAIA is quite a bit different than NCAA.

2nd...how are they going to have an athletic banquet?..  didn't all of the coaches leave?  I know that when I was in high school the coach of the sport spoke about the team and presented the awards for that team.

If you combine liberty, hardin, and hd...  they still wouldn't make the playoffs in hardin's district.
This past year Liberty would have won that district. Next year we play Newton and Buna, or one or the other or both IDK. and if we get things settled on the o-line you'll see how good Hardin's district compares to Liberty, we also destroyed Hardin 49-0 this past season, and they weren't even the last place team in their district, if we combined with them and HD, we'd walk through distict, if we entered their district without the two schools, we'd walk through district.
Wow Liberty beat hardin by 40+.....  so did West Hardin.  and West Hardin got 3rd in Daisetta's district and wasn't even close to 1 and 2.  The top 4 teams in hardin's district hung 50 on them...

Trust me...Liberty should feel lucky to be in that weak 3A district (other than colspring, huffman).  We'll see if you feel the same way after 1st three games next season

I realize choosing 6 applicants out of 57 is tough. But I can't understand why you would not grant, a former H-D defensive coach with a State Championship under his belt an interview. Also a H-D alumnus was not granted an interview. Coaches Stan Hodges from WOS and Randall Birdwell from Anahauc were not given interviews. WOW! I was Coached at H-D by Stan Hodges, what a passionate man! I played football at HD with Coach Randy Birdwell, great man. Both these men know first hand the pride and tradition at H-D. No other person on that list to my knowledge, has a State Championship, only Coach Hodges. Randy Birdwell to my knowledge, was the only H-D alumnus on that list. That respect alone and the good job he has done at Anahauc, should have got him an interview.
To be such a passionate bobcat supporter...you're not very supportive.  Why don't you just trust that the school administration will make the right decision.

Also..  since you are indeed the "definition" of a true bobcat.. why weren't you asked to be on the hiring committee?

Very admirable resume.  I think Hardin made a good hire.  I hope everything works out for the new guy and family...I would imagine Hardin is a tough place to coach.
