  1. K'ville by alot. And by the way how are HJ's lower levels doing?
  2. What offense does Central run? Either way the only way Vidor wins is by controlling the ball and clock. They must keep the mistakes to a very minimum and capitalize on any miscue by Central. Vidor 31 Central 28
  3. The offense will gel and the Stangs will roll thru district and be hot when the playoffs start.
  4. Congrats to the Dogs and the coaching staff. I picked WOS also, I thought they would clean up their offense by now and I still believe they will. The QB will mature as the season goes and the OL will jell on their protection of him. I don't know how many seniors WOS lost to graduation but I do know of two guys in QB HIPPOLITE (spelling?) and RB Garret. I believe the loss of the Hippo is a major factor in talent and leadership. Hippo would take over a game in the second half if it was needed. I think the QB will find his niche as the season goes. Again congrats to the Dogs and good luck to the Stangs, may they meet again (and I hope I can see it).
  5. I don't know who is overrated. But I do know who is not overrated. WOS is a complete football team and is worthy of their state ranking. They did have a sloppy offensive game against the cats with bobbled snaps and illegal procedures. These things can easily be fixed and are not the signs of doom to come. Good luck WOS. Kville proved that they can play 4 quarters of football, something they didn't do against Jasper. I have also been told that they played WOS without one of their starting running backs(Rhodes). Their turnover problem is being fixed, Going from 7 against Jasper to I believe one against WOS. Good luck Kville.
  6. My point is that Kville played man to man all night with 7 guys in the run box. What is the spread offense's adjustment when this happens. It can't be what I saw last Friday, on second thought maybe all the adjustments were made and were not evident due to all the false starts and dropped snaps.
  7. A short passing game with some crossing routes might be good. If the dogs lock down the stangs with tight man to man coverage like the cats did(who'd a thunk it) and put seven in the run box , then the spread offense must have an answer and seems their only answer is to sling it deep and hope for the best. I'm an old guy and still haven't gotten use to this new age offense and really don't know what the adjustments might be, thats just what I hear watching Saturday football.
  8. If Silsbee's O-Line gives the DI QB some space, then Silsbee wins in a close one. If the O-Line lets the Eagles run ruffshod, then Newton in a blow out.
  9. Only MLB doesn't shake hands, what does that mean?
  10. Some call it the "Stacked I" or "String Bean" formation. They have a sniffer back up close to the QB ,that mainly blocks, a full back and tailback. It's a power offense with option capabilities. I don't believe they will out muscle the Chain Gang or finesse them either. O O O X O O O QB SB FB TB
  11. Thats my point exactly. We measure "the best coaches" on winning. Is O'field going to win state or go deep in the playoffs? That is how everyone from the outside is going to measure your coach. Did Hooks or Barbay build a program, or did they inherit a program loades with size and speed (mostly speed). I agree with you on your coach and I wish everyone would have your view, everytime the coaching debate appears there are not enough people like you that speak up on what real coaching is about.
  12. Doesn't matter, Stangs chain Gang will shut out the Dogs. And their offense will be ready to make ammends after their less than good performance against the Cats.
  13. This is a great topic. My personal opinion is that coaching is always overated. Meaning they get too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose. Hooks, Barbay, and Roy harper of Burkeville are easily the cream of the crop in the wins catagory. But I would bet any amount of money that you could not pay them any amount of money to take an Orangefield, Bridge City, Warren,LCM...etc. type job. Like another poster stated these programs have next level players year in and year out and if you believe that is due to coaching I have some ocean front property in Arizona to talk to you about. Jimmy Johnson was the savior of the Cowboys in the early nineties, went to Miami and what happened, nothing he didn't have the players (I personally love the Cowboys and JJ). Oh well it's still fun to talk about.
  14. According to the Orange Leader: WOS Kville rush 34/126 57/216 pass 5/16 80yds 1/8 11yds pen. 11/70 yds 6/50 yds Kville starts 4 seniors on defense Ezidore, Harris, Fowler, Ervine and 3 seniors on offense West, Peel, Ezidore. None of which are Div.I athletes. Sounds like Kville beat them everywhere but where it matters(scoreboard). Kville didn't get it done where it matters but sounds like they are getting closer. So please no more talk about youth and penalties.
  15. Not trying to start anything. I'm just interested in the facts. I believe that if a coach starts a sophomore on the varsity that either the jr. and sr. class is weak or the sophomore is a stud. Either way you are not going very far in the playoffs. Youth does give you heartburn on any playing field and will make their share of mistakes and sometimes cost you a ball game. From the Pros to the peewees.
  16. How many sophs. and jrs. started for Kville? And the real penalty stats question hasn't been answered yet.
  17. The topic of penalties and youth keep popping up. Just wondering how many sophomores actually start for Wos and exactly what the penalty ratio was in the game against Kirbyville?
  18. WOS 28 JASPER 0 West Orange defense plays at a different level than Jasper has seen. I believe Gilmer is not the same team as in the past and that the Stangs will be ready to gain some 3A respect that they lost last week to a good 2A Kirbyville team.
