  2. 22 or 23. I played against him my junior year and I'm 21 about to turn 22.
  3. Unfortunately, I have to go with St. Pius 35, Vidor 10.
  4. Francouer is still only 23. He is hitting close to .300 with 58 RBI's (Top 10 in the NL). Yeah maybe a few pitchers have figured him out, but he is still an up and coming star in the league, who should become a stud within the next year or two. Pence will be fine but maybe struggle slightly after this season. Francouer also has no protection behind him, seeing that he protects Chipper.
  5. I wouldn't say he is crying. I honestly would be pretty upset as well. I may get killed for this but I see why he is mad. He could have spent the few days off the break would have given him with his family, but decided to play in the game and expected to get an at bat. With the game on the line who would you want up there, Pujols or Aaron Rowand? He has been an All-Star many times before and like many players do after a few times, he could have declined the invitation to spend time with his family. Many NFL Players do this with the Pro-Bowl. I don't think he handled it well by coming out publicly, but I can see where he is coming from.
  6. It is a very disturbing turn of events. When the news first came out, I was hoping that it wasn't something like this because Benoit always seemed to be a family oriented guy. But I guess that is what drugs will do to a person. It makes me step back and think what is the world coming to these days.
  7. I respectfully disagree with your opinions. I see where you are coming from, but you don't see SS make plays like those everyday. Many SS would have given up on the foul ball and not hustled all the way. You see players every game not hustle out on a ball or try to make the diving or running catch, or even not trying to scale the wall to bring back a foul ball. Jeter made the play because he hustled to the ball when many SS wouldn't have, even though he wasn't able to stop before taking a "dive" into the stands. This play may be slightly overrated, but there are others that are way more overrated. Then the Oakland play, that was amazing to me. His momentum is fully going in one direction, and he is able to get enough on the flip to actually make an accurate toss to Posada. That is hard to do when your momentum is carrying you one way and you must make a difficult throw or toss in a different direction. Safe or not, it was a great play. By the way I HATE the Yankees as well, but I respect Jeter. He is a great SS in my opinion.
  8. He cannot pitch everyday. There rotation has been horrible and the injuries are getting worse. The Red Sox will win the East and the Yanks won't even make the Wild Card.
  9. Then why is he wasting his time in NY? They have a horrible bullpen with a rotation full of guys who see the trainer when they get a mosquito bite. Boston or Houston would have been a better choice for a playoff team. Boston has the rotation and bullpen and lineup to compete for a championship. Houston is in a very weak division in a very weak league, and can be a playoff team with an 81-81 record. The Cardinals proved that as long as you make the playoffs, you can get on a run in the post-season and wind up World Champs. Finally, why would he go back to an extremely tough division where instead of facing guys like Ted Lilly once every nine at bats, you have to face guys like David Ortiz once every nine at bats. The only thing I can think is that it all came down to the cash. It wasn't about winning or playoffs, it was all about the cash. If it was about the money, then good decision. The Yanks were willing to pay whatever he wanted to get him because they have no pitching whatsoever. If it was about playoff contention, dumb move.
  10. Actually, I played for Coach Green and he specifically said that he doesn't like Nederland ISD. Not trying to start anything but if he leaves, it will not be to Nederland. He told me the reason but that is his business. But you never know with the coaching changes like they are.
  11. The Bagwell/Biggio thread got me thinking of others who should be in the HOF someday. Give us some players you think should be in the HOF and support it w/ career stats or comparison to other HOFers. I think Mark Grace should definately be a HOFer. G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2245 8065 1179 2445 511 45 173 1146 1075 642 70 48 .303 .383 .442 .825 Add 4 Gold Gloves at 1B, and the fact that during the '90s he led the majors in hits edging out HOF Tony Gwynn with 1754 to Gwynn's 1713. He also collected the most 2Bs in the '90s with 364. Definately a HOFer.
  12. So is the HOF only about hitting or is it all aspects of the game? Kirby Puckett had a lot of Gold Gloves, I think that is why he got in w/o the big HR total, that is what brought up the Gold Glove argument. If the Gold Glove is a sham, than you have to discount many of the other major awards. Another reason I think Bagwell will not get in immediately is because he struck out over 1500 times. That is an average of about 100 strike outs a year. Like I said, Bagwell will get in, just not in the first few years.
  13. Well then if a ROY and MVP award get you into the HOF, do you think Fred Lynn should be a HOFer? Even though his stats were not HOF caliber: In his 17-year career, Lynn batted .283 with 1111 RBI, 306 HR, 1960 hits, 1063 runs, 388 doubles, 43 triples, and 72 stolen bases in 1969 games
  14. Yeah, he won 1 Gold Glove in 15 seasons. Like I said he was an average defensive player, not bad but not outstanding. I think what may eventually get him in is his 202 stolen bases, but it will take a few years. Although nothing has ever been linked to Bagwell, many voters may link him to the "steroid era" which also may hurt his chances early. Like I said he will get in eventually. IMO he wasn't a baseball great (IE: Mantle, Ruth, Ryan, Ripken), but he was a very good player.
  15. Yeah, Kirby Puckett also won multiple Gold Glove awards and I think that helped his case. I like Bagwell, but he struck out way too much and was only a mediocre defensive player.
  16. Biggio is a HOFer, but Bagwell is not. He had some good years but he just wasn't HOF caliber to me. The HOF is getting watered down too much, they will let almost anyone who had a decent career in. If Bagwell would have hit 500 HRs, he is definately in. I think he falls just short, but he may get in after a few years on the ballot. Biggio is a first ballot once he reaches 3000 hits.
  17. I like Lidge, but it seems that he has the Knoblauch syndrome. If they are going to send him to TB, I say send Ensberg with him for Upton and a minor league SP in return. Not sure if they would do it, but it would be worth a shot.
  18. Your post didn't make any sense at all. "Everybody knows you folks are multiple", what the heck does that mean?
  19. That is a large number for a town of about 13,000 people. How is that possible?
  20. Vidor 5 Dayton 2 Hat throws 7 Looks like the hat throws will take this game.
