1. This information comes from this website:  [Hidden Content] This is the amount funded by the state to each district.  This does not include any abatement that a district may give and receive money in leiu of taxes. Anahuac 5100 Barbers Hill 7111 Beaumont 5586 Bridge City 5083 Buna  4886 Burkville 4824 Cleveland 5056 Coldspring 5306 Crosby 5181 Dayton 5371 Deweyville 5450 East Chambers 4987 Evadale 5706 Hamshire Fannett 5286 Hardin 5368 Hardin Jefferson 5783 High Island 5929 Hull Daisetta 5700 Jasper 4962 Kirbyville 4866 Kountze 4771 Liberty 5305 LCM 4996 Lumberton 5141 Nederland 4994 Newton 4873 Orangefield 4813 Port Arthur 5775 PNG 5415 Silsbee 5023 Spurger 4908 Warren 5380 West Hardin 5008 WOS 5183 Woodville 6245 Now lets make a simple comparison assuming the state holds true to a 10% cut of funding(could be more).  Kountze would lose Approx $470 per student, reducung their funding to about $4300 per student.  Barbers Hill would lose $710 dropping their funding to $6400 per student. I picked these schools since they were the top and bottom of the area.   And this is what the schools are being told.  10 % is manageable to some and devestating to others. Good Management is not always the reason one school is better off than another.  Sometiomes you just have more money to work with. BTW Westbrook ISD receives $13144 per student.  Why?
 2.
My statement was geared more toward 55+ Sorry, if I hurt your feeling. But if you want to cut cost, that's how you cut cost. Its a matter of numbers. I'm not saying its my favorite idea, but some people who been teaching for 30+ years don't let go of jobs. For a LONG time
FYI a 30 year teacher is only 52 or 53 in most cases.  Still to early for retirement. Many times, those 30+ year teachers are the mentor teachers that help the younger teachers.   I have seen districts go through and package those older teachers out.  The budget looks good, but the discipline starts to erode with a bunch of inexperienced teachers.  It takes most people a couple of years under their belt to really get to be comfortable in the classroom.  You have to have that mix.  Been there done that. Here is the thing, when funding was basically frozen in 2006, Most schools have had to trim the fat.  They have been cutting for 5 years.  They are running out of things to cut. You have to have somebody to maintain the facilities, as well as teach the kids.   I have not seen anyone come up to volunteer to cut the grass, fix  the leak or paint the walls.
 3. Bluedove, Might want to check your pay scale.  The possibility of taking a pay  cut to come to HF based on hiring schedules is high.  I did a quick search of online documents and found that the schools that border HF all had higher salaries. To be fair, that does not include coaching stipends. I also did not look north of Beaumont.  For someone who wants a head job bad enough, money may not be an issue.  Food for thought.......
 4. At the district I am at, this is the teaching/coaching line up: Science:  One teaches Physics, Aquatics and engineering and the other teaches Chemistry, One at JH History:  One World History, One US History, One Eco and Govt, 3 at JH( Texas and World Cultures) ISS:  One at HS and One at JH that also teaches History PE:  One at Jh Boys and one at Jh girls and One at HS that also teaches Health, one at elem Math:  One at JH Special Education: Three at HS Computers/Speech: One at HS So please, coaches do teach. BTW my dad coached and taught Calculus!
 5. New Waverly playing anybody?  Saw Trinity was playing.
 6. Gene Walker did go to Rice.  He did not go pro. Father in law was a teammate of his.
 7. Xenith was not even tested by the NFL.  I have talked to several College equipment guys and they will not put the Xenith on their kids.  And in the NFL, you paid for everything you wear.  The draw back is that they use a cable that is attached to chin strap to tighten the shock bonnet around the head.   To me that means that the kid now has control over the fit of the helmet.  That becomes a safety issue.  Also, if the cable should break, you are not able to fix it.  No helmet is going to prevent all concussions. If they say it prevents all concussions, run lightning is about to strike. The goal is to reduce the likely hood of getting a concussion.  That requires constant monitering of the fit of the helmet and making it where kids can not adjust the fit that much.   When the NFL did its testing, they gave a "thumbs up" to the Riddell Revolution, Ridell Revo Speed and the Schutt DNA pro.  THe highest priced helmet, the schutt Ion did not make the cut and I know of one Dr that prescribed this helmet for a kid to reduce concussions.   It is an educational process, teach the kids to tell you if something is wrong.  And then inspect, inspect, inspect. Think about what the Bills did with Kelso in the 90's, put the foam rubber cushion on top.
 8. Nothing like that Texas heat on that stuff.  Should be pink in a few years.
I can see a bunch of injuries occurring because that rule being changed.
how? explain?     Not doubting you but explain.
I see it as being defenseless.  In the pros, they will do a tag your it type deal.  Kids are going to hit any chance they get.  I would hate to see a kid get hit and have a career ending injury because of someone being overzealous.

 11.
He will never see the basketball court at LU. He is 6'5 and can't even dunk. He is 25 lbs. overweight and has been outplayed by a freshman on his team. He is lucky the freshman is in the hospital right now or he would probally be on the bench. I was talking to a LU coach Friday night who felt the same way. He better start realizing that it's going to take some work or he want see the football field either. He will not play QB at LU. It's a shame when you see a kid with his ability and won't put the work in to be much better. He has not helped the Nederland basketball team at all this season. Honestly I'm a LU supporter and would like to see them get kid's that can help us.
Saw him dunk last night. Based on his frame size, I can see him playing on the either line. Get him in a college weight program and he will probably be around 290 maybe even higher. He has the span to play LT.
 12. I was at that game.  Jim Wacker was stupid to send that kid over the middle.  We had two LB's at 6'4" and 245 lbs, that were really fast.  just stupid. McPherson(the WR) did break his jaw.
 13. Going to be at Kyle Field, Home of the Fighting Texas Aggies!!!!  WHOOOP!  Give it to the Rebels.  Will probably be the biggest stadium those kids will have the chance to play in.  Enjoy it.

That is my prediction ;D ;D
That would look horrible!!  ;D Liked last years uniforms. And they do need something on the helmet. Bring back the revolution instead of the crappy ones being worn now.
What the helmets that are made by the bankrupt company?
 15.
Keep em coming, Willie__Wonka...... :D
THat is what I was thinking!!!!  This guy is a linguistic genius.
 16. This is a legitimate question for officials?  So please let them answer...... Situation 1 Team A offense Team B defense Team A ball carrier is running and sees team b defender closing in pursuit.  Just before team b gets there, team a ducks and causes team b to tackle team a's  head.  PF Facemask called. Situation 2 Team A offense Team B defense Team A ball carrier is running and sees team b defender closing in pursuit. Team B defender comes up to tackle team A ballcarrier.  Team B defender wraps arm around team A ball carriers head.  No call.   I asked why when gabbing  the helmet, it was not a foul?  I was told that the hands did not wrap into the helmet. But both tacklers wrapped up the head. So what is it?  I you want you can PM me. Thanks
