                                                        @ WOS

    WOS Blue                36

    Bridge City                6

  2. If you want the score kept down then keep it down your self, don't rely on the other coach to do it. Also be accountable for the team you put on the field, if they played their best then win or lose tell them you are proud of the effort and it just wasn't their day, no excuses. Excuses teach kids to blame someone else for their failure and not be accountable for their play, even at 10 years old they can respect that if the coach takes the first step and respects his opponent and the ref's. You don't have to agree with every call, but don't let the griping dominate the day, show your kids how to act and be good sports. You didn't lose 22-0 because of the ref's.

  3. Matt Burnett tryed the spread two different times and after loseing two or three games went back to the power running game. PNG did not run the spread offense when Dustin Long was QB, they ran the same style Burnett runs today, but with some one else (M.Long) calling the play's on friday night, I would say they need an offensive coordinator that can mix things up and keep people off balance. The offense needs some new life, the toss sweep is ok as part of your offense, but is very boring when you live and die by it. Get some offensive help...

  4. Loaded back to the sixth and seventh grades. This sixth grade bunch has speed like we had in 2000, even after splitting the talent with 2 teams in the stjfl senior division both teams are super bowl contenders and both have

runningbacks and linebackers to spare, very good and very deep. And by the way will be playing 1st round playoff games at Bulldog Stadium this Sat. @ 5pm & 7pm

  5. The defense on the 01 team was pretty good, anybody remember Michael Boyd, Ben McPherson,Jake Askew, all big time playmakers. The 01 team was a quick strike offense, and had a left handed QB other than that not very similar. That year we had a good kicking game too. Play off road could look the same if we could get that far, We were picked to lose to an undefeated Friendswood team and also beat Magnolia that year before they moved back up to 5a.

  6. I know MB is a die hard Indian but if they offered him a reassignment he should tell them to stick it.

Whether anyone thinks he is a good head coach or not his overall record and background speaks for itself.

See, herein lies the problem. Those that don't follow the program don't really know what his overall record is. They just assume that it is great since it's PNG and they hear about them each season, but take a look at teh real numbers.

Overall 94-65 (0.591) with 6 playoff appearences.  Not bad, not great either. The 0.591 winning percentage ranks him 11th on the all time PNG list for coaches. Theres been 18 HC's at PNG. But what has happened lately.

Without the D. Long three years the record is:

    64-58 (0.525)

In the past 9 years since the state title game run:

    52-40 (0.565)

But that includes just three (3) winning seasons and three (3) playoff appearences (1 in the last four years).

The numbers speak for themselves. Not as GREAT as everyone thinks are they!

To put that into perspective, Neuman over that same period is:

    119-52 (0.696) with 12 playoff appearences.

Matt is a great person and good coach, but if he can't see that he needs help on the offensive side of the ball then maybe he should be replaced. I would love to see him stay and focus on defense and hire an established, imaginative OC. Just don't have any reason to believe it will happen.

seems the numbers are different ???

  7. 1. Lake Travis    10-0

    2. Everman        10-0

    3. Aledo            10-0

    4. Dallas Carter  10-0

    5. Longview        8-2

    6. Frenship        10-0

    7. Hewett Midway 9-1

    8. Rockwall Heath 10-0

    9. Highland Park  9-1

    10. Edcouch-Elsa  10-0

    11. Calhoun

    12. Denison

    13. Friendswood  - Region 3-

    14. Texarkana

    15. Dunbar

    16. Alice

    17. Schertz Steele

    18. Sulphur Springs

    19. Forney

    20. ElPaso Austin

  8. Dayton      - Should make it to region final

Lumberton - same - need to play this one @ Rice or Reliant Lum will bring alot of

20-4A support, big crowd for this one

Nederland  - Grogan will get his yds, the key will be Bellows getting his

Central      - should win but sometimes their own worst enemy

With the exception of Dayton 19-4A is not that strong, that being said 20-4A with the exception of Lumberton ain't that strong either. To me, 3 teams stand out in region 3, Dayton, Lumberton and Friendswood, AP #13 Friendswood is the only 4a team in region 3 ranked.

  9.                                       Nov. 22    Dec. 6          Dec. 13

@ Ned      @ WOS      Super Bowl @ Ned.

    Div.1 #1. Ned White          ------------ _________

    Div.2 #4. LC or Lum Blue    ------------

                                                                            -------------

    Div.2 #2. Ned Black            ------------ _________

    Div.1 #3. OF or BC            -------------

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Div.1 #2. Lum White          ------------__________

    Div.2 #3. LC or Lum Blue    ------------

                                                                            --------------

    Div.2 #1. WOS Blue            ------------__________

    Div.1 #4. OF,BC or WOWhite -----------

Nederland and Lumberton White played for the top spot in Div 1 Sat. night with    Ned winning 13-7, great game .

Lumberton Blue and Little Cypress play this Sat. night to settle the 3rd and 4th spots in Div 2.

Bridge City controls it's own fate with a game against Ned White Sat., a BC win would put them in the 3rd spot, a BC loss would make for a 3way tie for the 3rd and 4th spots in Div 1, provided that WOW wins against Vidor Black, a BC loss of 27 or less would send them to the 4th seed and WOW would miss the play offs,  #1 seed Ned White avg's 30 points a game and allows only 7.8 points a game.

Should be some exciting games when the play offs get started.

  10. Over all region 3 at the 4a level is down, this does not include Dayton Friendswood or Lumberton, I can easily see Dayton and Lumberton in the region final, they are solid teams. Friendswood should win the region 3 D1 title, but after these teams things get weak, lot of 6-3 teams out there. Look at the rankings and see how many region 3 teams receive points.
