1. I will say this as a Multi sport athlete. Its not that the Football coaches know what they are doing better than a baseball coach, most schools usually have a Strength and Conditioning coach that runs the workouts for the entire athletic program. Typically he is also a Football coach. The he generally gets about an hour a day to make the athletes stronger, faster, in better shape, and ect. He generally runs the camps as well. When it gets into specific sports he generaly runs them through the rutine lifts mentioned earlier and runs them. All athletes will benifit from that. The coaches get all of the after school practice to build on the other stuff their individual sport needs.

bringintheheat gave a very good and accurate assement of the pitching staff from last year.
so my question to 24baseball24 is what 2 are you talking about?  and whats comming for us? ???

If you read posts from above: D. Wood threw 89-92 this summer and C. Erwin on a loose arm threw 91-94 this summer. Says so on my radar gun.
I think your gun needs calibrating.  ;)

The games improved since your son has been playing. BH is bringing in a lot more kids and have a lot more talent
First, my son only graduated in 2008......not too long ago   ??? ??? ???. I can promise you the '07 & '08 teams had plenty of talent , more than last year's....and that's not a knock on last year's team. 5 pitchers on the '08 team went on to pitch at the next level. Hales, Thamm, Silva, Kelley, and Burditt.
I hope these kids are throwing as well as you say. It's just not what I'm hearing from the contacts I have at the high school, select team, Juco, D1, and MLB scouting burea levels.....and from a couple of D1 recruiters. One from a university that you mentioned in your pm. Coach Denny had a gun on the kids that are in the baseball offseason within the last month. No one was over 86....and that wasn't from either of the two that you mention....one of which is not in the offseason program. I've been around the baseball recruiting and  the MLB draft deals long enough to know if you are a senior touching 94....you are already signed w/ at least a JuCO and more than likely a D1, or both, and scouts are around you thicker than thieves...even if you only played select ball your junior year.
Second, the growth rate in Barbers Hill is primarily at the primary school level. The enrollment figures for BH from the last 2 UIL classifiactions did not change all that much.

With that said,  best of luck to the BH Eagles and Coach Denny.

Your spot on with this post EAGLE07 and I agree completely. And to you 24baseball24. I don't know who you are but I have a pretty good idea. I'll offer you a little advice and you can take it for what it's worth. You are obviously someone who is a big fan of both of these kids and I can respect that, or someone that is throwing both of these kids purposely under the bus, which if this is the case I have no respect for you at all. The problem with what you have done is that you are trying to downplay and discredit the accomplishments of current teammates and past players of the Barbers Hill baseball program while at the same time trying to embellish the abilities of these two kids. I hope and pray for the sake of C. Erwin and D. Wood that they can live up to the expectations that you have set for them on this forum when baseball season rolls around in the spring. You have either blatantly or unknowingly set these 2 kids up for both failure and ridicule from their teammates and opponents before they even have a chance to get started. I really hope your radar gun was accurate! If not these 2 kids may be in for a really miserable senior year thanks to you!
I know for a fact that these two have pitched it in the summer. And Denny did have a gun on them when they threw from center feild to home plate which is a different then a pitch. And d. Wood threw 89 from that distants. For the 07 08 season it haS been one of the best teams that had came threw bh in a long time but couldn't even make it past the first round. Obviously not to good. These two kids are great kids throwing the ball hard and hitting their spots. Keep up the good work you are putting in. Don't have to listen to the hatred at bh from past dads
First of all I haven't seen any past dads showing any hatred at BH. I for one am a past and current dad who just doesn't understand what your trying to accomplish. If you haven't noticed by now, I don't think anyone believes a word your saying and your posts are getting more and more unbelievable. Your bashing and trying to discredit the accomplishments of other current and former players isn't going to help get Irwin and Wood on the field this year. It would appear to most that read this post that 24baseball24 is either C. Irwin or D. Wood trying to make himself and his buddy look good. Soooo, do C. Irwin and D. Wood a favor and quit talking about them. If they are as good as you say, their play will speak for itself when the baseball season get's here! They don't need your help. By the way, you need to know that if your only throwing 89 from the outfield with a crow hop, odds are your probably not going to bust 85 from the mound much less 92! Your numbers aren't matching up very well.
Definately agree with that RIP09. This guy just needs to stop posting this BS before he puts even more pressure on these kids. This is ridiculous!!
I don't know about Wood, but I know for a fact that 24 isn't Erwin.

BISD has open enrollment within the district if I am not mistaken. It has to do with the two "Magnet" schools correct?

If a player transfers to LCM and is found not to have paid the $1700 annual fee and still lives outside the LCM district, then I would call for LCM's head! Serious multiple year penalties in whatever sport it is. This has to be governed tightly.
Exactly, this is going to open a pandora's box.  I think Vidor has already approved this but I don't remember a big fuss about it when it happened.  I think that people are concerned here with an influx of WOS players coming to LCM (some already have) where no one really thinks that many kids if any will move to Vidor to play football.  Once again, no one is concerned about the academic issues here, just the "Friday Night Lights".  What will be done next to bastardize our education system for the sake of a championship team?
But why would any WOS football player want to go to LCM?
Some of the Back ups in WOS would be starters in LCM, playing time is always a big factor.

Parents are involved alot for a fact. But changing the coach for bh was jus a excuse for losing I think..in 06 when price was still the coach the team was great the players were awsome after that it was sort of winless.. I don't think its so much of the coach for losing or winning its what the players bring out to the feild..now for the coaches they have to connect with every player on the team bring out the best in them (ex. Stewart) care about the players, teach them to better in every aspect of the game, how to show and play with heart on the feild. Price was a good coach to the players but could have done a better job by connecting with the players. Hopefully gage can provide that at the hill. Good luck to the eagles and all the returning players for next year!
I heard that Gage basically said in his "meet the coaches" that "he goes more by "what he's heard" (as it relates to his hiring policies) ..... It kind of appears that same policy was initially used on "who he played" at the beginning of the season ..... He tried to make McMillan a QB, I'm guessing due to the fact that he was available for Spring Practice versus his two best options (who were both playing Varsity Baseball).  I am not a Price supporter, but at the same time ..... why not look at the best QB for the position rather than trying to mold a good RB for the position ...... It wasted too much valuable time and I still think the best option for the QB position was never even truly given GAge's time ..... I know plenty of those parents, fans, etc ..... who watched any of the Sophmore or JV games from last season know what/who is being referenced ....

The true question is does this coaching staff want a gifted athlete to make a choice between baseball and football ........ If they do, it appears that maybe Gage and his coaching staff just might be "rolling with the 21st century" vs the old school way that a lot of us experienced.

In Texas, we used to play both sides during football season and didn't miss a beat between basketball, track and baseball season .... maybe the old school way is what we need to get back to and start worrying more about character and these kids futures vs how many state championships a coach can get in his career.

McMillan was tried at QB because he has a decent arm on him, he is very smart, and has the ability to run. A fit for tte offensive system.

Sorry folks, was out moving the two state championship trophies over to make room for the third.  Little follow-up here:

1st.  As for Dayton is 20-4A, WHAT?  Did you bump your head?  As they say in one of the the NFL pre-game shows; "Come-On Man!"  ??? ???

2nd.  Lumberton, the shirt is a lighter shade of pink than what was planned.  The shirt guy had a hot pink shirt, but it was XXXL or what I like to referr to as, "just your size."   ;D ;D

3rd.  Now about this 54 thing everyone keeps referring too.  One last time, Baskin Robins has 32 flavors.  33 if you count the gonja cream that's grown behind Brokshire Bros.   :-\

4th.  Yes, the shirt guy is another displaced Baytown Lee fan who was more than happy to accomodate a BH fan who lost a bet.  That's OK, he wants his attic painted with Radiant Barrier paint, so when we get in the attic I may leave a suprise.......  ;D ;D

    BH 2010-1011 District Champions 19-4A

    BH 28 Dayton 14
    BH 38 Forest Brook 0
    BH 44 Galena Park 0
    BH 38 North Forest 0
    BH 32 CE King 0
    BH 42 GCM 0
    BH 31 Crosby 0
Put a more realistic score for the Dayton game. BH wins 54-0. ;) ;)
