All at BH fully understand the good cop bad cop analogy. The problem is until Junior Gage came along there has always been two bad cops.... if you watch a BH game in comparison to a GCM or Crosby coached teams our boy's are so uptight and press on every at bat and every defensive opportunity. it starts at the top and the time has come to part ways with the current keystone cops and put our tax dollars at work in support of a new age coach Jason Krug to be exact that relates to this generation of ballplayer.......

In whicch district does Jason Krug teach? Is he a Certified Texas Educator?
He is a coach at san jac. He is certified and i think he coached in new braunfels isd before that, i think!

Sorry let me re-state my position. Not out classed in being a group of thugs but out classed in a physical baseball conditioned sense. Sorry for the confusion on the wording. Maybe if the boy's had a relationship with the senior statesmen we have leading them they may have been camped out in thecoaches office talking baseball much like they do now with Junior Gage instead of making a pass behind the blue wall........let's make the game fun again.........

Got Ya,
Yes, baseball as all sports should be fun!

thanks for the info. anyone know who threw for kp?
Keys pitched for K-Park and someone else but not sure of the second pitchers name. Keys pitched through the 6th.

Great job by BH mounting a comeback late in the game.. just came up short..
Keep working BH Boys!

OK, back to baseball.  I keep hearing that Kingwood Park is going to be a power in the district, what is the overall record of KWP ? Have they played a tough schedule ?    I Just have not seen much on them. I did see they played Crosby tough.  If BH will stop leaving runners on base, they will win more than folks think.  Bases loaded with 1 out and down by 1 vs Crosby and left all of them OB.  Out hit GP 7 hits to 5 and left 6 on base.  Need to hit when they have the opportunity to put games away, but that's baseball.

K-Park has played
Dawson        0-1 L
Pasadena      5-3 W
Klein Forest  1-7 L
St. PiusX      ???
2nd Bapt.        3-4 L
New Caney  3-6  L
Dayton          Win
Crosby          5-6  L

Looks like a tough schedule, they are in every ball game that’s for sure.
(I am sure I missed a couple of games)
It will be a good win for BH if we can pull it off!    ;)

9. article from the Sun:

Eagles must grow up fast to defend title
By Dave Rogers
The Baytown Sun
Published February 20, 2010
MONT BELVIEU – The Barbers Hill Eagles have a special place in their baseball clubhouse room for varsity veterans:

It’s Tyler Lyday’s locker.

The senior first baseman is the only returning starter for the Eagles, who tied Kingwood Park for the District 19-4A title last year and finished up 19-12 in a season truncated by a swine flu scare.

“I don’t think many people are giving us much of a chance to make the playoffs this year,” veteran coach Gil Stalbaum said. “But I’d like to think we’d be able to battle for a playoff spot.

“We’ve got some talented young kids. It’s just a matter of how quick they mature into leaders.”

Grayson Long, a 6-foot-5 sophomore righthander, is the talented prospect most talked about, based on his showings in summer showcase events. But like most of the Eagles, this will be his first varsity season.

A quartet of seniors did see enough action in 2009 to letter. They are outfielder Brandon Wright, third baseman Blayne McDonald, first baseman Brian Meyer and third baseman-pitcher Cole Young.

Going into the final weekend before the start of the 2010 season, McDonald, Young and junior Aaron Kramer were competing for a starting spot at third. Second base was up for grabs between sophomore Blake Bonnin and junior James Santana.

Those who seemed to have nailed down positions were Lyday at first, junior Ethan Jeffcoat in centerfield, sophomore catcher Kody Thompson and sophomore shortstop Kyle Leggett.

Corner outfielder possibilities include Wright, junior Coleman Blaylock, junior Jonathan Green, senior Daniel Mitchell and freshman Preston Townley.

Tyler Newcomb, a sophomore move-in from Pasadena Dobie, just joined the program after playing JV basketball and could see a lot of time at a variety of positions, Stalbaum said.

When it comes to pitching, Mitchell, who’s currently busy with Barbers Hill’s playoff basketball team, is the Eagles’ most experienced man on the mound.

“Kody Thompson and (sophomore) Kyle Leggett picked up some innings on the varsity last year,” Stalbaum said, but nobody on our roster now pitched more than 10 innings for us.”

Carson Asbury, another varsity basketball player, Young and Townley are other pitching probables.

“Our district is loaded,” Stalbaum said, noting that Kingwood Park and Goose Creek Memorial return their entire teams. “Crosby has outstanding pitching returning. C.E. King has a good nucleus coming back and so does Galena Park and Dayton always competes for a playoff spot every year.”

So does Barbers Hill. Area baseball fans know better than to ever count out the Eagles. It’s up to Stalbaum to direct their flight.
