1. As of last night, I believe the plan was:  Kirby for game 1 and Cody for game 2.
2.
Well sorry but Penny and Cool Hand Luke are making the rest of ya'll look bad then! They should probably just relax and enjoy their kids successes right now!  BulldogBacker is right though...looking at those sophomore/freshman (whatever you want to call it) scores...it does seem that Nederland baseball WILL have an even brighter future!!!  ;)  Sorry to burst a little bubble, Penny & Luke! Correct me if I'm wrong but is this the same group of boys that dominated in football too!? It seems like you have a talented group of athletes there. I would hope that the coaches would capitalize on that. I guess we will have to wait and see!
Wow!  Seriously?  You do realize that people residing in cities other than Nederland post here, right?  Why do you assume Penny and Cool Hand Luke speak for the parents of all Nederland Varsity players?  Or even that they are from Nederland to begin with? The truth of the matter is that when your kid is on Varsity, the focus will be on him and those he plays with.  8th grade athletes get more attention than 7th grade athletes.  Freshman athletes get more than 8th grade athletes and so it goes. Remember, this Varsity team returned nearly all of the boys made it to the regional finals last year.  If the future WILL be brighter, we will all be very proud because they'll have to make it to state.
3. Yep, pretty harsh.  The ball was chopped high.  Trev could not have taken more than 1/2 step father on the grass.  He fielded the ball cleanly and made a rocket throw with no hesitation at all. If there had been a problem with the way he played the ball, they would have scored it an error and he'd be facing none of your criticism.
4.
i agree. you can "sign" but you can be talked to. Jalali has great talent to go to a big d1 school. Also Hagler from vidor I hear is doing very well.. Schlett and Sonnier from Nederland havent really done anything to impress me. Now bellows and cardenes on the other hand carry that team. PNG has about 5 kids that are capable of going to a D1 school along with nederland.
I am aware that everyone is entitled to his opinion regardless of how uninformed, biased or ignorant it may be!  Fortunately, you and your opinion are meaningless.  Sonnier is my son and Schlett is a very good friend of ours.  They are two really good young men that excel in many things, including baseball.  How do any of us know what the future holds for any of these kids?  We don't, but what I do know is both of these young men are really talented and have as great a chance as any other to "play at the next level." I rarely miss any of the Bulldogs' games, so the next time you want to discuss him or his abilities you should seek me out.  My name is Melissa and I would be more than happy to communicate my true and unfiltered thoughts with you!
5. I guess what says the most about the Sun Devils to me is how anxious the parents of the kids on the team are to thank Chip and the coaches.  Who better than the players' parents to judge whether the Sun Devils program helped their sons reach their goals?  Our son was on a team that went very deep in the HS playoffs last year playing a number of playoff series in Houston.  He also played the summer with the Sun Devils.  He played in front of more scouts in a single game in Georgia than he played in front of during the entire HS season.  That can't be anything but good.  No one with something to sell would choose to advertise at a block party rather than running a national TV ad if they had a choice. Those of us with a kid on the Sun Devils are grateful for what the program does for them.  One generous guy has given them first class training and a national ad campaign.  It should be easy to understand why we are loyal to the team and those that run it.  They give our kids a better shot at their goals and there is nothing more important to us than that. If the Sun Devils want to help some kids from outside of our area, who are we to complain?  First of all, it's not our money.  Second, the kids in our area are not the only ones that deserve to reach their dreams.  Wouldn't it seem wrong for us to criticize a philanthropist who sent half his money to feed kids in Africa because he could have spent it all on American charities? In the end, I guess I just don't understand how anyone could criticize a guy for dropping a huge amount of money every year trying to help a bunch of kids.  Even if you are wrong-headed enough to believe that the Sun Devils program doesn't help the kids at all, how can you criticize the effort?  I don't know if our kid will get a chance to play D1 ball, but that's his goal.  We believe the Sun Devils give him the best opportunity to do that.  It is possible he could make it without the Sun Devils, but they sure do increase his odds.  If he makes it, I will tell anyone who will listen that I am grateful to the Sun Devils...twice if I get the chance.  Our son better do the same because we raised him to recognize and appreciate generosity - even if others don't.
6.
Why is this thread still alive?
Uummmm....because people are still reading and posting!
7.
I went to this game. Ned is not that good. IMO The only life they had was what Crosby gave them. They blocked a feel goal and gained some mo, but other than 3 big plays Ned was dead. Good luck 19-4A and the coogs. Crosby was by for the more physical team.
WOW!  You're either biased to Crosby or just plain ignorant.  From where I was sitting, it looked like Crosby benefitted from several huge plays themselves....and isn't that part of the game?  The game was way too close to say that Nederland was "dead".  There wasn't a Crosby fan that wasn't holding their breath until the Dogs gave the ball back to them for the last time with about a minute and a half left in the 4th.  If the Dogs are not that good, neither is Crosby.  The view must not have been good from the Crosby side of the stadium, because from the Nederland side of the stadium, it looked like two pretty good teams fighting it out.  The Dogs played with heart and class.  This game could easily have had a different outcome.  We are proud of our boys for their determination and drive.  I understand that you must "feel" the need to put a spin on this one by criticizing the team that came in as the clear underdog, but still gave your Coogs a serious run for the money! And you are not worthy of a canine screen name.  Turn that sucker in and see if you can get something more appropriate like "Wussy cat."
8. It was not ONLY the seniors that left it all on the field!!! The underclassmen left it all out there too. I know mine did!!
9. The only reason the pass defense is a sore spot is because people love to pick at it. From what I saw, there were five or six deep throws last night and only one connected...on good coverage by the same defender that had picked off a long throw earlier in the game. The pass defense may have given up the play that won the game, but it was no where close to being the reason Nederland lost the game. The truth is, the defense as a whole has played pretty darn well given the amount of time they have been on the field and the short field they often have to defend. They only gave up 10 points in regulation. That ought to be good enough to win every time.
10. I have it third-hand (from 1696dogs' top secret source - who got it from someone still at the park) that the Devils won 10-6.
11. Absolutely! I can't believe I actually miss ALL of his sarcasm. We had the pleasure of being around the Devils last week. The Devils are well-behaved, responsible young men on the field as well as off the field. We should all be proud!
12. I think That's how Sonnier got in the pickle...rounded 2nd going for a triple, but 3rd was occupied.
