Glad your not bitter or making excuses .....great job Dogs
So was it okay for the purple player to chew out the umpire(s) all the way into the outfield after a 3rd out strikeout?  Or to throw his bat? Or his helmet?  How about throwing his helmet across the field at the end of the game?  Guess you missed all of that.  Or was it okay because you thought those were bad calls?  Trev argued with the ump only after he was rung up for a 4th straight time - all on questionable called third strikes.  You've known him for a longtime and you know he doesn't typically argue calls or lose his cool. The truth is, it was a hard fought rivalry game with some very questionable calls.  That makes for lots of emotion.  Sure, Trev shouldn't have lost his cool, but it is really easy to understand why he did.  Lots of us fans did too.  We (on both sides) said lots of things that would have gotten us tossed if we were on the field.  We really ought not to be overly critical of either player.  Neither one did anything that crazy and neither one did something stupid and hurt themselves. I guess what I am trying to say is that you need to be careful where you throw your stones.

He motioned into the backfield a lot from the wr spot. He also was the "Wild DOG" guy.  Even though he is lined up at QB he is a listed wr. He had 438 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns if you add that to his Receiving you get 626 yards and 16 touchdowns.  That is with missing the Vidor game.  In my opinion if I was coaching against the two players I would be more worried about Sonnier wherever he lined up. In district only Nelson-545 yards 5 touchdowns Sonnier-626 total yards 16 touchdowns
That is why he made 1st team UTILITY. He lined up at QB/WR/RB.
AKIFAN:  The horse is long since dead...stop beating it.
Just responding to a direct post to me. I am not offering any new arguement on the subject.
That may have been a bit harsh.  I'm on the other half of Sonnier's family and I appreciate the nice things you have said about him.  I am also very sympathetic to your cause.  I was surprised to see that Trev had taken a WR and the Utility spot.   If the roles were reversed we (the Sonniers and Kirchmers) would be crying foul and blowing up the site too. I assume you have a relationship with the Nelson kid and I can understand the disappointment and the strong desire to make even a futile attempt to right a wrong you believe has been done to him.  If anything, we are sometimes too aggressive in taking up Trev's cause. The truth is, we were concerned that Trev would be left off the list because he was used in so many different offensive roles that he did not fit well into any one category.  (I should have known there was a spot for a utility player, but I didn't).   I sorry Nelson was left off the list, he is obviously a very good player.

I was very close to the bench at Vidor along with several parents and their reactions were not very favorable for the coaching staff. I watched as both offense and defense came off the field several times feeling defeated and not one coach went to the bench to try and lift these young mens spirits or give them any encouragement. Just my opinion but a game has 4 quarters not 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 quarters. These young men play until the final second ticks off the clock. I hate to see the stands starting to empty before the game is over and all the negative comments being made. How do you think the players feel to turn around and see their supposed fans leaving the game early because they are being defeated. Staying another few minutes and supporting their team regardless of winning or loosing is what a fan is suppose to do. I have  seen the play of the year happen for a player in the final minute of the game. Another thing we all applaud and support the half time show and all the kids involved but when half time is over most of "their" fans leave cause their shirts say it's all about the half time. This is just my opinion but, stick around its more fun than going to get something to eat. :D
I agree to a point, I would say most of the fans that were leaving early were the over 50 crowd and had to get to Luby's before they closed !
Hold on a minute young buck. I'm in the 50+ crowd. Lubys closes at 8:30. Some of us old farts have a bedtime or have to take meds or some other lame excuse. Win or lose, I'm gonna be there until the band finishes their last Cherokee. Back to topic, the Indians get back on the winning track with a huge win.
I am in that 50+ crowd too. I have to leave because my Viagra is only good for 4 hours.
That gives new meaning to "getting up for the game."
While I understand these decisions aren't easy, it's hard for me grasp the idea that a senior, who has played multiple sports every year up to this point, deciding to forego their senior year and focus on 1 sport.  To each his own, but the focus here isn't on 1 sport, it's the possibility of injury from that other sport.  I can't say it's selfish, nor will I say it's selfless, but being a former college baseball player I would have never dreamed of not playing football my senior year to focus on the diamond - plus it helped me stay in awesome shape.  Good luck to the Dawgs....
Well......like you said "to each his own".  What was good for you may not be what is best for another.
Don't know the kid but I'll bet he'll be just like the other 99% I do know who will regret the decision 10 years down the road.  When all his buddies are telling stories about hanging out in the locker room and playing football, he'll be left out of the conversation.  Most of these decisions are short sided just like a kid who decides to work to pay for truck insurance instead of playing high school athletics.  Kids don't always know what is best for them but they have to live with the consequences down the road.  I would say the same about a kid who decides to concentrate on football and not play baseball in the spring also.  Just my opinion.  I am sure all the "fall ball" advocates will now express theirs.
There is a big difference between the kid who elects to work for a truck and a kid who opts not to play because he knows he has bigger things coming down the road.  High school sports will not be the apex of Price's sporting life.   Price won't be sitting around wishing he had high school football stories - he'll be telling college baseball stories. He made the right choice.

Hallmark is a very good player who needs to get signed quickly. It infuriates me that nobody has signed him yet. I guess scouts think that just because you are from a 2A in the boondocks, you can't play. They would rather sign some rich kid from Brenham than a true ball player like hallmark.
This is one of the most rediculous baseball statements I have heard!  Why in the world would a scout (like myself) rather sign a "rich kid" instead of a "boondocks" kid that can actually play.  Rich kids are harder to sign!  It is our job to find talent, no matter where it comes from, and an unknown kid that can play would only solidify my ability at finding talent.  Please have a clue what you are talking about before you make statements like this.
Where does Hallmark play in the Summer? That's where and when a 2A kid with talent will get noticed. Most of the scouts I know want to see as many prospects at one time as they possibly can. THAT is where these Summer tournaments play a huge part of the recruiting process.
That does seem to be the case but not all kids are fortunate enough to play on teams like the Sundevils or other teams like that.  There are alot of very talented kids in this area and they seem to be getting the short end of the stick when it comes to getting to play at the next level.  It's sad to say that money is the driving force becuase most of these teams require alot of money and lots of people aren't that fortunate.  My son won't play at the next level, he has tried out several times to no avail so come august he will hang the glove up and go to school and he is talented enough, he has been mentioned on here several times but isn't on a team that gets the exposure some do so his dream of playing in college are very very remote and I can relate to alot of parents that are in the same situation.
If the UIL or Texas high school coaches (whoever is responsible for scheduling) would change the standard high school game schedule from Tuesday/Friday, it would could help kids like yours.  Most college teams have games on Tuesday and Friday nights making it nearly impossible for college coaches to see Texas kids playing high school ball.  It's really a bad system.
 16. The Sun Devils have two teams at A&M this weekend for the Sun Devil Classic. Will try to post a schedule this evening.
 17. I am going to say the same thing I said the last time this grousing by folks not associated with the Sun Devils came up.  There is no better judge of what the Sun Devils do to help kids than the kids and their parents.  I can assure you that we all believe the Sun Devils make a difference for our kids.  And what is the hang-up with the money?  There certainly are kids who have the opportunity to do things they otherwise wouldn't because of Chip's generosity.  That is a good thing, but that is not the real reason kids play for the Sun Devils.  I'd be willing to bet that any kid who worked out with the Sun Devils coaches even once would want to play for them. There is no doubt that every Sun Devils player owes some gratitude to his Little League coaches.  However, there comes a time when the best players have advanced to a point that if they really want to meet their potential, they need more than armature coaching.  Matt, Jimmy, and JR are terrific coaches.  If you don't believe it, have your kid get a lesson from any one of them and see for yourself.  At the risk of talking too much about my own, I can tell you that I think Trev is a really good player, but I will also gladly tell you that the Sun Devils make him a better player everyday he works with them.  Not one of us that has any input on what Trev does would have him play for any other team - even if the Sun Devils started charging for training time. I've never heard the Sun Devils complain about losing a player to another team.  I'm sure it has happened, but they don't whine about it.  They just coach 'em up and play ball....really good ball.
 18. The Sun Devils are playing today at Lamar - 3:00 in the final of the Triple Play Tournament.  The Sun Devils have two teams in the tournament.  One team is in the finals, the other is playing right now for the chance to play an all Sun Devils final.  Local Sun Devils: Jacob Felts Derrian James Cameron Dishon Trevin Sonnier Matt Menard Shane Waddell Kirby Bellow Ryan Brady Price Jacobs Jace Statum Trae Hester Will Henderson Aaron Morgan Colby Jenkins Quinton Evans They play next week at the Sun Devil Classic at A&M.  Lafayette the following week.  Then Marietta for two weeks and they end the summer at Ft. Myers.

 20.
Wow, what a spewing of hate towards my friend fwstangs.  And, no one with the B@#$s to offer a simple congratulations to the Friendswood boys.  What a bunch of sore losers you folks are from PNG!   And to monkeyblood, I just love it when people from a "community" like PNG try to preach about how they supposedly raise their kids to some higher standard.  I recall that higher standard being on display during football.  But, hey, whatever keeps you going, and it it helps you rationalize the fact that you are stuck living where you live, more power to you!   Has anybody bothered to add up how PNG (heck the whole GT) fared against those rich, spoiled Friendswood kids this year (include all the academic, music, theater and art stucff).  I am guessing its been about Friendswood 30 and PNG ZERO! Go Indians -- but it will have to be next year!   ;)
The really ironic thing about your post and others I've seen is that you accuse us of having an issue with FW because your are "rich" and yet the only people on this site that have made any reference to FW being "rich" are FW people.  You FW folks are clearly obsessed with the idea that you are "rich."  The truth of the matter is that "rich" is relative.  It's really not a very good standard by which to measure yourself.  There are about 8 million families in the United States with a net worth of $1M or more.  If you had $1B, you would rank 937th among the wealthiest people in the world.  Unless you are Bill Gates, there is always someone richer than you.  I grew-up in Clear Lake and my classmates generally looked down on most of the schools in the area, including yours, because they were not as "rich" as Clear Lake.  I guess that is another thing that strikes me here - I have never thought of FW as rich, but you guys clearly do.  Anyway, the funny thing about the attitude the CLHS students had is that none of the families in Clear Lake at that time was even really wealthy.  We were just wealthier than our opponents and we had a really warped sense of what that said about us.  In the end our relative wealth just made us act like jerks.  We are not at odds with you because of wealth (if FW is wealthy); that is your obsession.  We are not at odds with you because of where you live.  We are at odds with you because you are obsessed with those things and you believe that they somehow make you and your community better than ours.  As hard as it is for you to believe, we really do not want to be you.  Like lots of other people here, I live in the GT by choice.  Our community is well grounded and I appreciate the kind of everyday values I've found here.  They certainly beat the warped values and sense of superiority that pervaded the community in which I grew-up. _______________ I am happy to congratulate your kids.  They are obviously a very good team.
 21. Keeper99, even more shocking than Basebow pulling for PNG - I am going to side with him!  Send the Devil a winter coat. I just bought my first purple shirt and some Benadryl (I'm deathly allergic to purple), so I'll be ready for the weekend.  (Don't worry 8isgreat, I plan to wear a thick undershirt to keep it away from my skin). GO Innnnnn......aauuugh, I can't get it out...so i'll just say - BEAT FRIENDSWOOD!
Maybe they should hold off on those YELLOW chartered busses until they are at least out of the area.  Keeps things in perspective and they'll learn to appreciate the BIG games that need BIG BUSSES.  Baseball and softball both used them.
It wasn't an issue with anyone last year!   Nor was riding a charted bus a problem for any of the teams that won...or for our boys last week for that matter.  The charters are much safer than an old YELLOW dog school bus which is one of the reasons they use them on the longer trips.  I think as far as BIG games go, this qualified.  Good job on a great season, Bulldogs!  The rest of us are proud of you guys and are glad you are home safely.
 23. You're right about Sonnier's numbers.  I'd vote for him for sure...but I'm a little biased!
 24. I think a one game playoff is stupid.  Especially in baseball.  It should not be an option. I don't know enough about Crosby to predict what might have happened in a 3 game series.  So, my comments don't really have to do with this match-up other than to feel for Vidor or any other team that loses in a one game playoff.
