So a winning tradition generates attention all the way over in Africa?
If Hardin Jefferson were making national headlines, and winning like Yates has won over the last 4-5 years, AND were located in one of the largest metropolitan cities in the WORLD....Yes, that would be possible.

At the end of the day ppl sound bitter when they claim schools recruit...it didn't help Yates last yr when they lost in the state game..so who cares...lace up your shoes go out and play...get better at the game and stop the complaining...that's why kids can't compete anymore because ppl cry about what the other team is doin so their already defeated before the game is played...quit puttin your kids at a disadvantage with the negative thoughts..you can only control what your players do...bottom line is when you win everything else is forgotten .

I already know the outcome, yall just provide us with the scores and a little game analysis.
Yates wins 133-18.  All starters had triple doubles and a new player who just enrolled last month had 41 in his first effort at his third school in three years.  HJ finished the game with three players on the floor as the other 12 all fouled out.  If they hadnt played such a weak schedule and had done more sport specific workouts, the score would have been 133-21.

Yep...sounds about right... 8)
Depends on who his handlers are.
Handlers huh? I wonder how many handlers HJ has to land a giant from another continent? I'm guessing......ZERO!! BUT...Yates doesn't recruit, right? ::)
Yates recruits about as much as Nederland does in PORT ARTHUR.... ::) ::)....They don't, right? Players from Port Arthur just SHOW UP, right? Same thing happens at Yates... ;)
For four years now, you (or anyone) has yet to name ONE basketball kid who transferred (or 'showed up') from PAM to Nederland. I'll be waiting for an answer, yet it will be the same as usual! ::)
Not the same with Yates. Over 1/2 of their team has transferred from other schools/Countries/CONTINENTS!!

so when they finished 2nd in the state out of however many hundred, it didn't help them?  i could care less about sounding bitter when i see a public school with a basketball roster who's lineup reads like a college squad with players from all over the greater houston area, the country, and around the world from year to year...  it's BS.

So if you guys stayed in Europe and were about to move to Houston because of opportunity and you had a son who was really good in basketball, you guys would pick the best basketball program for your child right? I know I would.
Check out Thon Maker, a kid from the Sudan who is 7'0 AT 14 years old who moved to New Orleans. HJ gets kids from Beaumonr all the time, but  since it doesnt hurt any of the Beaumont schools programs nothing is ever said

While that all sounds very noble, the theory holds that all teams competing with each other ought to be adhering to the same rules.

Other than DJ, please name some Beaumont kids that HJ has gotten that have contributed materially to the basketball program.
Contributed or not kids have left Beaumont schools and went to HJ. aM i right or wrong??
Sure, there are Beaumont kids  at HJ but DJ was the only one in the basketball program and your inference that this somehow makes HJ a recruiter of basketball players is totally wrong. Additionally, there is a 6'7": post man who left the HJ program for Beaumont after last season.

that's just stupid, nash.  if you're the best, it's okay to do whatever it takes to stay the best.  look at lance armstrong ;)

I'm not saying HJ is a recruiting school, Im saying its the same for Yates. If my son is a good basketball player and I move to Houston and I want my son in a good program we're going to Yates. Does that make them a recruiting school. And the kid that left HJ would of held HJ  back. I coached him this summer.

Is this game or any game going to be on the radio? I do not see that any are listed as being broadcasted.
KOGT 1600 AM will broadcast WO-S game tomorrow night. 92.3 FM The Eagle will carry Big Sandy game tomorrow night. Those are the only two radio games we have to promote on this site.

SETXsports will broadcast Silsbee's game tomorrow night.

Hope that answers your question.

Doesnt matter if he would have held them back.  YOUR point was about kids coming to HJ from Beaumont REGARDLESS of whether or not they contributed to basketball and I gave you a reverse example.  And if you HONESTLY believe there is the slightest similarity between who comes to Yates to play and who comes to hJ to play, your elevator does not go all the way to the top.

One could claim that.

I spoke with a person last night who is close to the Yates program and he was quite forward with an answer to a question I had for him. I asked how many of the current Yates varsity players came up through the Yates feeder middle schools. He said of the 15 on varsity, only 6.

I do not know how HISD works as far as middle schools and where those kids move on to high schools.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
