it is tough for players esp in game like football to lose a parent or have a parent with a terminal illness. 

it's all about character for those kids.  great of his teammates to be mindful of this, it says a lot about them, too.

I can relate to this kid. I lost a parent 7 years ago, and scoring my first defensive touchdown meant the world to me.

I think it says alot about both kids character:
- the kid that lost his dad had the respect of his team mates to do this for him
- the kid that ran out of bounds had it in his heart to see the bigger picture while in the middle of the battle
