I don't know anything about Athens, except for them getting their star back recently.  From looking at the score tonight,  it appears they play a deliberate game.  If the Tigers get to running it could be a long night for them.  If that is their style and its a slow game,  it could be interesting.

There has been a lot of talk on strength of schedules this year.  The Tigers  schedule was tough and they have 4 wins over teams that are still alive in the regionals this weekend: 4A Ozen, 3A Pleasant Grove and H-J and 2A Kountze.  Hopefully these will have helped the Tigers to pick up a couple more wins this weekend!

Athens vs. Silsbee, my, my.  Two of my favorite town going at it head to head.  I love Athens.  I've been there a few times.  My church conference owns a spot of land there, and we going there and have church camp meetings every summer.  Beautiful area, hard water and all.  Several lakes, lots of fishing, you name it.

Silsbee is home though.  Blood is thicker than turnip juice, lol.  Go Tigers!  I won't be at the game though.  I plan to observe the sabbath, being I am a Seventh Day Adventist christian.  They had a big write up on the sabbath in the Houston Chronicle, as it relates to the playoffs.  Check it out.

I am mindful of the sabbath every year when they have the regional tournament, which I don't attend for this reason.  It is not that big of a deal for me, I'm just bringing it to attention.

I talked to coach SIG last night after the game and he said he was very familiar with Athens he knows how they play and what they like to do. He said when he coached at Clarksville that Athens beat his team in 2 overtimes, and his team beat them in a later game so I'm sure coach SIG has big plans for Athens. Good luck tigers just win.

They did score just over 70 in each of their first two playoff games so it may have been Fairfield slowing the game down.
That would be my guess. Saw Athens play about a week ago. They have speed and like to push the ball. Decent shooters........Should be two great ball games Friday. Looking forward to watching both games.......

You just described Silsbee lol, SPEED, change decent shooters to good shooters, and add in those scorers they have.

Found out Athens was runner up in there district and Brownsboro won that district and they were defeated by Waco Connally in the area round.. And Connally lost tonight 70-31 to Waco La Vega .. just a few interesting things to point out.

Athens was playing without their best player at this point.

Athens would likely have won the district if the good player they just got back had been playing during the district competition

Does Athens have any length?
Biggest man is 6'3".... I believe they have a 6'2'......the rest of the starters are about 6' or under.....they rebound well for their height. Very athletic.
Has Athens had any run-ins with Gestapo this year?

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
