bama kid ,  did you every work at Vidor High School.  You sound alot like a guy who used to work and coach while you were writing for the Vidor newspaper.
???

No, I have never worked at Vidor. I've never worked at any school as anything more than a student volunteer, and those were all PN-GISD schools.

You port neches fans sure are a touchy lot. I started the thread halfway making light of the song not attempting to get into a dissertation about the history of png football. You should start your indian dance like this:

wah........wah........wah,wah,wah........wah,cry,cry,cry,wah,wah,wahhhhhhhh. I hope we have you for our homecoming next year too. Gonna be a long, lonely, sad drive back to port neches after that game. Take the route through Bridge City home; the lights of Port Arthur from the Rainbow Bridge will cheer you up....wah........wah........wah,wah,wah.
Just like the presumed district champions were going to snap PN-G's perfect record in 2009 and just like Vidor was going to shock the high school football world and beat PN-G by seven touchdowns this year, right? ::)

Interesting that you bring up Vidor's homecoming. The last two times the Pirates have hosted the Indians at their homecoming, PN-G has won. You have a nice halftime show, though. You just need to get with the program and make the fireworks purple - you know, celebrate the winners and all. 8)

Just like Vidor was supposed to be the bottom dwellers last year in football and ended up having the same record as the almighty PNG indians, oh wait no, Vidor had more wins, and actually went further in the playoffs than them.  8)

But you still lost to PN-G. 8)

I don't know. 22-0 two minutes into the fourth quarter is pretty close to a shutout.

22-15 as a final score sounds pretty close to catching up. You were 15 points away from shutting us out. We were 7 points away from catching up. You do the math.  8)

Yeah, you were pretty close to catching up. But you didn't. And that's all that really matters here. Vidor lost. End of story. Did you have a good playoff run? Yeah. Was it an impressive end-of-season turn-around? Not the most impressive, but certainly nothing to discount. Did Vidor surprise a lot of people? Certainly. But Vidor still lost to PN-G, and no amount of playoff wins will change that. The fact is, as much as you like to rag on PN-G and its fight song and all of its fans and traditions, and as much as you like to talk and as much boasting as you and some of the other Vidor fans did in the weeks leading up to the game about how this is Vidor's year and how the Pirates were going to change their long habit of losing to PN-G, they came into the Reservation and almost got shut out.

And the sad part is, Vidor shot itself in the foot against PN-G. You kept running the same sets with the same ground game. Your team had a grand total of two pass attempts - both incompletions - going into the fourth quarter and not a single WR was put in the game until the last ten minutes of regulation. Vidor had no success against the Indians until it finally changed things up at the tail end of the game and PN-G had put in its reserves, and by then any hopes of a win were out of reach.

Now you keep talking about math. A famous mathematician and physicist once defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results each time. Vidor did the same thing for more than three quarters and scored a total of zero points in the process. Are you sure you want to keep this math argument up?

Typical PNG.  You should be ashamed of yourself . Bragging about beating a Vidor team that had a difficult week dealing with a teammates death . It's stuff like this that reminds me of why noone has respect for PNG

I have nothing but respect for Vidor's team and I've offered condolences to Vidor on this site in regards to the tragic death of Matt Thomas. I was in the Vidor stands rooting for Vidor during their last playoff game and I was at the PN-G-Vidor game when our crowd paid tribute to Thomas several weeks after his death (just like Vidor paid tribute to Tip Durham when they hosted us after his death; there's a lot of respect between these two communities). And I'm not bragging about anything. I'm just not going to have somebody saying their team is somehow better than mine when my team won the head-to-head matchup.

No respect? At least my karma's positive.

In any case, this thread's been dead for more than a week. I don't see why it's still going on.

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!

    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
