Lumberton vs. Livingston Game Thread/Livingston wins 45-38!

Livingston won 43-38. From what I was told Lumberton played pretty sloppy and towards the end had a chance to run time off of the clock but instead kept trying to drive which lead to costly turnovers/fouls in Livingston's favor. Aside from that I heard only seven girls on the Lumberton team played tonight.
With the Livingston win tonight, a Lumberton win next Tuesday over Nederland at home, and a Livingston loss at Ozen there would be a need for a tiebreaker game between Lumberton and Livingston for the final playoff spot.

When your up in the final mins of game and your forcing up shots that means the coach has no control of the team that means you have no discpline!! The team has to know what a good shot is and what a bad shot is no reason to force shots but you have to go over situations like that with the team and installed that into there heads!!

I've got a question.

What has Nicki Goad done to deserve the mountain of criticism that she seems to get game in and game out.  She currently has her team tied for a playoff spot and I think if you look at the remaining schedule, I think you will agree that tie is likely to be broken in Lumberton's favor.

There have been issues with Coach Goad not playing the seniors on the team so that has caused drama. The parents of the seniors have constantly bashed her for everything she does. I've noticed that when Lumberton loses people are quick to jump in and say she has no clue what she is doing but when they win people are speechless. In my opinion for her first year coaching varsity she is doing a pretty good job and if she gets the opportunity to stay and continue coaching she will be able to build a good program for Lumberton.

Being a senior doesn't mean you should play. Best players should play.

I agree BUT, turning it over and over with some who you are playing and not making a change will cost you BIG time! sometimes you have good games/bring it and sometimes you don't.

Nicki Goad came into a program that was going through a rough patch. When you have players forcing up shots at the end of the game, it is not always her fault, sometimes you can't control what players do and she got all over their case when those players did that. And the senior issue, if they aren't playing, it is obviously for a reason. Goad doesn't sit players just because, she is there for a purpose and that is to play the players that will help lead to a victory, and if you can't do that then you shouldn't deserve to be on the court.

Lol what a post!!! Discpline controls players!! if your discpline you will be successful and do the little things right and players will know their roles. remember there is a reason  that shes not doing softball anymore because that program progress backwards because there was no discpline what so ever in the softball program and they had very good talent  so what do you think is going to happen with the basketball program???

Really?! uhmmm lets see.... if you do not mind the coach  --- you dont play! OLD SCHOOL - not rocket science people.  Maybe then they (who ever they are) will become a "Team" player and the coach will get respect from players and parents.  Coaches are there to "Coach" not make friends.  (fyi i was not at the game... just bored and saw this and could not believe someone would ask how to fix it) :P

That's the thing, the players do listen to the coach. From what I can tell Sportsman5 is talking about players making mistakes in games and that being a lack of discipline. I was asking what those problems were and how to fix them to see what Sportsman5 sees the problem as and then his solution.

sounds like they are meaning undisciplined on the court -  making bad shot  (too hard).  Im sure they have all played long enough to know what that is.  Like i said i was not there.  But, it sounds like they had the game won all they needed to do was control and play smart.  Could it be that the girl/girls were trying to get high scorer?  I once had a coach who praised most assist over high scorer.... because that is a "team" player!  Good luck cant wait to hear who wins next game if they meet up again - should be a good one!

According to the win/loss record from this site, both teams are now 6-7. If Lumberton wins Tuesday and Livingston looses to Ozen, there should be no need for a tie breaker.

That's why I was asking earlier who won the last game between Livingston/Nederland...the thread says Livingston won but the standings have Nederland listed as winning...does anyone know which is correct.

Coach Goads record will speak for itself. If they make the playoffs for the first time since 2008, then that will be a pretty darn good job. If not, still not bad in my humble opinion, considering how many players left the program the past few years. To be in the running is an exciting time for the girls. All of the adults involved should be excited for the team, and try to see the good things that are going on there. The team does have ALOT of Seniors this year for the first time in years. Last year they finished with one senior on the team. The rest had quit. I don't think that there is any "quit" in this bunch.
Anyway, I wish them the best of luck.

Great post!  :) Those have been my thoughts on the year and Lumberton has some good talent moving up from what I've been told.
