I'm glad the good players on bad teams are getting recognized.
Exactly! You cannot help what team you are on. I know GP had two DIV I players on their team, but it takes more than two players to make a team.

I think that Thames from BH was their kicker not a Lineman.
Let me know if he was a kicker.  The Sun just had him listed at the end of the linemen.  That is usually were the kicker is anyway.

Thames is a kicker per BH roster.

I changed it.
Thanks for the information.

If you see anything else let me know and I'll get it changed.

I posted on the other thread last night that it would be nice to try to get all of the first team together for a photo.  Maybe at Barbers Hill since they were District Champs.

Only 2 out of the 5 DB's that made it were on playoff teams!!!  Who were the people that voted on this?
19-4A Coaches.
Coach nominates, he is not allowed to vote on his nominations. Other coaches vote on who has been nominated.
Honorable Mention-received at least 1 vote from another coach.

In regards to Offensive MVP, lets look at some statistics.  I am not second guessing coaches because they can vote for whomever they want.  However, I felt like these individuals were more deserving.  Especially the Crosby twins.  I understand they are Sophomores, but I dont think that should matter.  These were the players that jump off the page with their stats.

Offensive MVP - Kaleb Denny - BH
Pass: 47/83 789 yds, 12 TDs, 2 INT
Rush: 77 att, 424 yds, 5.51 avg, 5 TDs
6th place Passing
did not finish in top ten rushers.
19th place in Pts scored (36)

Tyler Newcomb - BH
Rush: 111 att, 776 yds, 11 TDs, 6.99 avg
Recv: 10 catches, 118 yds, 3 TDs
5th place Rushing
2nd place Points Scored (84)
9th place All-Purpose Yards (894)

Austin Walter - Crosby
Rush: 207 att, 1359 yds, 16 TDs, 6.57 avg
Recv: 20 catches, 184 yds, 2 TDs
1st Place Rushing
1st Place Points Scored (110)
1st Place All-Purpose Yards (1543)

Aston Walter - Crosby
Pass: 105/158, 67%, 1451 yds, 14 TDs, 5 INTs
Rush: 136 att, 852 yds, 8 TDs, 6.26 avg
3rd Place Passing
4th Place Rushing
18th Place Points Scored (52)
12th Place All-Purpose Yards (852)

Bernard Mackey - CEK
Rush: 167 att, 1019 yds, 9 TDs, 6.1 avg
Recv: 10 catches, 155 yds, 3 TDs
Return: 13 Returns, 205 yds
3rd Place Rushing
2nd Place All-Purpose Yards (1379)
8th Place Scoring (60)

Carlos Smith - CEK
Recv: 43 catches, 793 yds, 8 TDs, 18.44 avg
Rush: 30 att, 270 yds, 2 TDs, 9.0 avg
Returns: 14 returns, 338 yds
2nd Place Receiving
4th Place Points Scored (72)
2nd Place All-Purpose Yards (1401)

All stats are for Regular Season only.

Where did you get your stats?  Tyler Newcomb had over 1,000 regular season All Purpose Yards (You left out his K/O Returns, which averaged 43 yards)

stats came straight from the 19-4A Statistician's Spreadsheet.  He did miss Newcomb's return yards which was 179.  that would have made him #7 All-Purpose

All of the Barbers Hill official stats can be found at the THSCA's Pressbox Services website.  As for the totals, you have to also take into consideration the triple-option offense BH runs.  If Duke or Newcomb were not sharing the ball their totals would have been a lot higher.

How did tyler newcomb not get offensive mvp. Im not a bh fan by any means but his numbers speak for themselves. I know I gave him a hard time throughout the year but that was just smack would have loved him on the bronx.

Nice post and we are all SMACK talkers, it all goes with being competitive.  I think it is pretty obvious that there were some "deals" made to get some of these kids names on the list. It appears to start with some of the First Team Defense and MVP.  I am shocked that Garrett Dolan is not there and even more shocked that Newcomb wasn't MVP and that Duke isn't on First Team Offense ...... These picks are "fishy" (Big Time).

Austin Walter should've been the offensive MVP. Hands down most productive offensive player on the district's best offense, with the district's best numbers.

    • Funny how “MAGA” is considered a bad thing…. The MAGA crowd….etc…. Whoever doesn’t want to make America Great should leave.
    • That's an interesting take, but considering that an incumbent enjoys a HUGE advantage historically, I think Covey came pretty close to an upset. I don't care one way or the other - the biggest reason being that I live in Hardin County. But I have to think the Trump endorsement got Covey that close in the first place. His only recognition was on a very local level, virtually unheard of before the Trump endorsement. Otherwise, he probably would've lost by thousands of votes instead of a few hundred. Just my observation.
    • I think the interesting point is this… Trump backed candidates do better when Trump is on the ballot. Back in March Covey was up by 3%, and that skirt from Jasper pulled about 10%… and most people believed that her voters would go directly to Covey. Conventional wisdom was that Covey would be up by 10-12 points if all things went according to the pattern from March. That just didn’t happen. Typically turnout is lower in runoffs than in the primaries, and my guess is that Phelan had fewer votes this time around than last, but covey had WAY fewer votes. A friend of mine has been watching a similar runoff in central texas, and the results were similar. The MAGA guy just didn’t turn out the votes this May.    My opinion is that a large portion of the support these Trump guys are just that…. Trump supporters. They’ll vote down ticket according to MAGA directives when Trump is on the ballot, but when they can’t vote Trump, they just don’t show up at all.

    • Then you should have known lots of people said the exact same thing when the alcoholic Democrat Ann Richards was elected way way back in the day. Texas has become redder and redder ever since. People, especially blacks, are waking up and realizing the Marxist Democrats are destroying them. Feel free to hold your breath waiting on your dream to happen though. That would be fun to watch, LOL.
