Don't sleep on Mexia!! ;D
Ha Ha (in the most sarcastic voice you could ever imagine) ....You know I think we all remember you saying that 14 times already...say what you want HJ didn't take jabs at the almighty Silsbee Tigers after they lost...remember they were supposed to win it all this year.....and lost in what their first playoff game....anyway mexia will have a hard time today against Athens, they will be tough to beat from here out, they are very good..I'm so very proud of the Hawks, another over achieving year...a year where we were supposed to be beat like like a drum by Cleveland and you proved them wrong...I will miss all of the seniors we will all miss you it has been an absolute pleasure to watch all of you compete at such a high level.

Lazeek and Pappabear: thanks for the broadcasts this year.  Keep 'em going forever, please.  I'm already looking forward to next year.

We just got home from Huntsville feeling sad, yes, but gratified for another great season of HJ hoops.

Congrats and best of luck to Mexia.  Not many teams withstand our comeback surges in the playoffs.  Great job.  Seemed like a bunch of really good kids, too.

HJ Seniors: thanks for the memories, and so many nights of driving home happy.  Work as hard in your future endeavors as you worked for your coaches.  The sky's the limit for you guys.

Coaches: you guys know how I feel about y'all.  Many, many thanks.  Best of luck next year.  We'll see y'all at the games.

Me too Dr. slam I feel the same way, and I really have enjoyed watching your kids play you should be very proud of them they are wonderful young men and are a reflection of their dad, who is a pretty good guy. I love the fact that even though your kids are gone from the program that you still follow it just as passionately as they were still in it...as far as the broadcast I hope we can keep doing it, I love the fact that Hawk nation can listen even if they cant make it to the gym...

Thanks for the kind words, Poppa.  Still hurting a bit for those seniors.  They came so awfully close to making another trip to Austin.

They do have a lot to be grateful for, though.

One of the most gratifying things about the HJ program is to see what fine men the former players are turning into.  I'm not talking about my sons here (they're doing well, thanks again), but the eight or nine former players I ran into at Baytown Lee and Huntsville.  They look so mature now.  The only one who didn't go to college is running his own business, doing well with it, putting his wife through college, and planning on going to college himself one day.  Everyone else is graduating college on time.  Three kids I spoke to are going into teaching, and hoping to coach basketball(!).  We've got a couple of chemical engineers, a petroleum engineer.  My older one says he wants to do molecular biology research his whole life; my younger one is double-majoring in mechanical engineering and math.  All these young men benefited immeasurably from the time they spent with coaches Sutherland, Davis, and Lee.

Okay HJ, you had a good run (again) this season. Congrats! Now its time to get back to planning for HF's district against HJ now.

Dove - yall should be much improved next year but I don't think it's quite your time to wave the district championship banner.  Two years from now.......who knows?

District?  Isn't 2012 supposed to be that Special year for the Horns?

I'm thinking it may be the fall 2012/spring 2013 season which could be special for HF.  It's also going to depend on who they hire as their next head coach.

Doesnt matter who they hire if the priority is always "do whatever is best for football".  The "bigger, faster, stronger" priority is proven to be counter productive in many instances.

Excuse me Dove, but are you delaying your "HF Takes It All' prediction to the 2012-2013 season in lieu of 2011-2012?
Some unforeseen road blocks have taken place which started at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. We will be in playoffs next season.

Just to be clear - am I understanding correctly the following about the future?  The Longhorns will be in the playoff in 2011-2012 but will bring home the state title in 2012-2013?  If that is correct, I may want to delay my plans to move to Florida.
Pushing those buttons LOL!

Mamma, I suspect (and I know this from personal experience) is more concerned with the social impact of your conduct than you are, right?
:D :D  I could care less at times. She keeps me on track, sometimes.
