This is the best thing for the program.  Now go out, take your time and hire the best person available!

I’ll tell you right now one guy that has been a huge part of Coach Miller’s success at Spring and Willis is Coach Fitzgerald OC/OL/AHC. Lots of wins and he knows Miller’s offense! He’d be a great hire

Maybe so.  But, again, take your time and find the best available.  If it's this individual then so be it!

Pretty sure his son will be the new HC. That was the plan when he took the job. Unless something changed and the decided they want to go a different route.

Something changed, Jim Holley was the AD and him and Dougald McDougald had a long history. Plunk the new AD does not have the same history. With that being said Chris McDougald could still get the job, but it’s not the foregone conclusion it was when Jim Holley was calling the shots.

The fact they posted the job on THSCA tells me this isnt a done deal...

As well as it should be.  Best thing to do is take their time and find the best coach available!  No more buddy deals!

It’s not a done deal. New AD has made one hire and went and got the former Galveston Ball coach for New Caney High School, so not afraid to go out on the market and find someone.

Eh, I once saw a 4A D1 district right down the street from WF post their AD/HC job on THSCA with a starting salary of $84k. Clearly an attempt to say they posted with no real intention of going outside the fold for replacement. We will see what WF does.

$84,000 for AD/HC is an insult

I guess we got our answer. WF going a different route than the McDougald pathway.

I’m an Onalaska guy at heart ( give us football), but as a New Caney ISD hire I like them conducting searches and bringing in guys with bigger resumes.

McDougald had a pretty good resume. Dont know much about the guy they ended up hiring.

Dougald McDougald retired. His son had no head coaching experience to my knowledge. Really can’t compare his sons resume to Cope’s

Every HC was a coordinator before they were a HC. However, I dont recall comparing his resume with anyone.

My whole point is New Caney pays some of the higher salaries of head coaches in the entire Houston area. Neither offensive or defensive coordinator has to teach class. The facilities are top notch both at the stadium and at West Fork High School. There is nothing wrong with promoting form within, however when you’re getting coaches that have the resume of a guy like Cope and I’m sure they got several other good ones I can definitely understand going in a different direction. If you’re going to fund your programs that well and provide all those resources it’s your responsibility to hire the best coach, not hire someone out of loyalty because you feel like you have to do that. Not a shot at any of the Mcdouglads who are great football coaches and people.
