Elessar Posted Monday at 09:11 PM Report Posted Monday at 09:11 PM Pretty good win for OF with only having one practice with the football kids. Really wish they could have talked Gonzo into playing, but even without him OF’s depth is going to be its biggest weapon. Second half they really pulled away even with Willis being in foul trouble. Yes Bridge City was missing 4 football players today, including arguably the best player on the team. Quote

Setxhasbeen Posted Monday at 10:59 PM Report Posted Monday at 10:59 PM OF ran well in transition and moved the ball quite well. BC looked slow, and lacking defensive depth. Quote

Mungi and Smart are definitely difference makers, and great young men, but Bush, Sylveria, Dennison, and several of their support players were all there. Keep in mind, we are missing two starters as well; Thomas & Sims. (Thomas should return mid December) It was a great game, but Orangefield is just different this year. The players are all working together for the win. BC faceguarded/denied Scales from the start and all of the Bobcats worked hard by screening or chipping the defender every chance they got to really disrupt BC's defensive game plan. This year's Bobcat Team is just that a TEAM, which is very refreshing from the nonsense we saw last year. Last week they gave 5A Nederland all they could handle without our football guys and the two starters we are still missing. Coach Whitmire and his staff have really set the bar with discipline this offseason, and that reality check has aligned this group! The message has been sent, "either get onboard or get out" and us parents love it! Couldn't be more proud of this group and looking forward to a great season! Elessar and bullets13 1 1 Quote

BBBB Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago BC is struggling right now. There isn’t a lack of defense, it’s practically nonexistent. No offensive rebounds, no second shots. Watching loose balls. The chemistry is way off. Too many bad fruits in the bowl if that makes sense. Things will change once we get the football boys back and we have that camaraderie that we’re so badly missing right now. Great win for Orangefield…wish we had another one scheduled where we’re fully staffed. Good luck to OF this season and hope they make a deep run. Cu Chulainn 1 Quote

Well, they face-guarded Scales and were all over him but once they saw that our boys were going to work to get him free, yalls defensive game plan should have gotten changed up. If the whole plan is to stop one guy, but he is still getting touches, you have to try something different. Even LCM did that to us but still lost by 30. (Yes, I am biased and hate seeing teams only try to keep my son from getting the ball, lol) Too many bad fruits definitely makes sense, a lot of those younger guys yall have need to move back down and quit looking to shoot every time they touch it. The ball should be in Bush and Dennison's hands every time down the floor until Mungy and Smart get back. Even once they return, yall have a very good Senior Heavy Core that needs to lead and be getting those shots. Those guys have worked too hard to be fighting for touches from younger guys with their Mommas in the stands yelling, "shoot it" every time they touch it. Trust me, I know, we have the same problem with some of our guys playing up right now. Things will definitely change for you guys when Mungy and Smart get back. Mungy is a floor general and Smart is an enforcer. All that nonsense wont fly with them. In the meantime, Bush needs to be more vocal. He is the best player on the team and he needs to lead with authority. he has more than earned that right. He is a great young man and if they wont follow him, then Daspit should cut them! We appreciate your well wishes for this season, and we wish you guys the same! We will come support you guys when we aren't playing. Good luck to yall! Quote
Setxhasbeen Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago They got a freshman starting and touching the ball more than the seniors… he must be the real deal. Will be interesting who sits when football comes back on the BC side. Quote

Daspit must get him engaged on both ends every possession and get him to understand what being a leader is when the game isn't going well. But we are talking about a Freshman not a junior or senior so there is time. Quote

But we are talking about a Freshman not a junior or senior so there is time. To you and @Setxhasbeen, I've been reaching out to some of my BC contacts and I was naive in my assessment about Jennings. Though he may be talented offensively, they are struggling to get him to play at both ends and his attitude is very questionable. apparently their is a severe lack of respect for the players in front of him and it is spreading discontent. That is very sad to hear because those BC Seniors have been playing together for a very long time and had all the tools needed to be very special even without Jennings. If I was Daspit, nothing is worth losing the team chemistry those Seniors have and I'd address that situation now. This is the 2025/26 Season. He can have 27,28, & 29. It is his job to fit in with the BC Seniors and not the other way around. At the end of the day, BC is Bush's team and the ones who want to be part of it, will gladly follow him. I am an Orangefield Dad, and I promise I feel the same way about my son's team. He has unselfishly led this group like Bush has since they were young and no one deserves to break up that team chemistry. Quote
