spudaroo Posted Sunday at 02:47 PM Report Posted Sunday at 02:47 PM What's with Huntsville? A team like that with so much talent, how do they get beat like they did by Montgomery? Are they not playing for the new coach? Quote
CS. Posted Sunday at 03:02 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:02 PM Lost their Stud RB early and couldn’t move the ball anymore. Quote

prepballfan Posted Sunday at 06:02 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:02 PM He doesn't play defense but their top lineman on defense missed the game as well their big run stuffer. Quote

Eazy Posted Sunday at 06:09 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:09 PM Huntsville beat Montgomery by 18 last year and played PNG within 3. Now they have been outscored 83-28 in the last 6 quarters against those same two teams. Giving up 40 is unheard of and now 54 in a district game. They did have a few key guys out with injuries against Montgomery but still. This team has a lot of talent and I don’t think you would see this performance under former coach Southern. Something is just not working with this team. This needs to be a circle the wagons game against Dayton or they can just sit this one out for the playoffs. I suspect that Huntsville will rebound and get the win, but then again, will they? Quote

1970 Posted Sunday at 08:45 PM Report Posted Sunday at 08:45 PM I've already said this either here or the PNG site, but they had PNG down in the first half, and intercepted a pass with over a minute remaining in the half at about the 30 or so yl, and just sat on it and ran out the clock. Then the second half they looked like a different team. (Not that I was disappointed or anything.). Confusion, hikes over the qb's head, penalties. They finally got it together with a couple minutes left in the game. All in all though I was very surprised by the Montgomery game. Quote

I was surprised when Coach Southern left Huntsville. He's a good coach, he had a solid program in place at Huntsville, and his 2024 team was tough as nails and loaded with talented JRs and SOPHs. It was said that he was leaving to explore collegiate opportunities, but then he ended up at Copperas Cove. Was he looking to leave Huntsville for some other reason? Don’t know. At a certain point, you’ve probably done all you can do at a program and it’s best to leave before you get stale. And the team gets a chance to see what a new coach can do. Quote
lcm93 Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Png ripped the heart out of Huntsville with that big 2nd half comeback !! Coach southern was the x factor for this team !! He kept the hornets focused and motivated!! This coach does not have that magical touch !! Quote
