For the same reason that Rs are fighting against trans people… their supporters want it. 
 

The good news is that the change of leadership that comes in a little over a month will likely put the brakes on a lot of this nonsense. 
 

I remember a few years back when they were celebrating a new “green fleet” of navy ships that were all fueled by bio fuels. Every boat in their group was “green” on this particular trip abroad. 
 

And somebody finally admitted that the cost of fuel was 25x what it would have been if they were using traditional fuels. That kind of stupidity.
