spidersal Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Nice 13-3 victory for the sweep. Now need to beat SEL at least once and sweep HCU. They always struggle with SEL especially on the road and will not beat A&M or Texas If they can win 4 they will finish the regular season 40-15 Still hoping they can get hot and win the SLC tournament Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted April 27 Author Report Posted April 27 Was typing as you posted. Pending the outcome of SELA vs HCU, the Cards will be either 1 or 2 games back from the lead in the conference. Will at least sit only 1 game back of the 2 seed, but that is McNeese and UTRGV with the both holding the tiebreaker. Edit: The SLC website has the standings ridiculously wrong as always and the usually reliable D1 baseball is off as well. UTRGV is a 1/2 game up on McNeese, but has only 3 games left in conference. The remaining top 5 teams have 6 games left to play in conference. Quote

spidersal Posted April 30 Report Posted April 30 7 games left for the cardinals and really need to win 5 of the 6 conference games to have a chance 36-12 and still have a chance for 40 regular season wins. They are going to finish with a very good season, but rest assured the only SLC team to make it to the postseason will be the winner Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted May 3 Author Report Posted May 3 Rikey Hunsaker throws 7 innings of shutout ball with 10 k's. Austin Neal finishes off the final 2 innings and LU wins 5-0 in the opener against SELA. snakehead26 1 Quote
spidersal Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 A must needed win for the Cardinals. Hopefully they will win again tomorrow Fantastic pitching performance tonight myrecordwashorrible 1 Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted May 4 Author Report Posted May 4 Cards fall 4-0 today. Had chances early but couldn't get hits with runners on today. Quote
spidersal Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Well the bats were silent today with the 4-0 loss. At least they loaded the bases in the 9th. Unfortunately if they lose tomorrow the season will probably be over with a nice winning record for the season Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted May 4 Author Report Posted May 4 Cards fall 7-4 today. Have a mid-week in Austin followed by a final series at home against HCU. After today's games SELA is in great position to hold the #1 seed and UTRGV with a good shot at the #2. Where will Lamar be for the first round of the confence tournament? Next weekend will determine that. Quote
spidersal Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Well the Cardinals couldn’t do it today. Pitching and errors got them today. Still have a chance to possible sweep HCU and be 40-15 regular season or win at least 2 and be 39-16. Possibly either 20-10 or 19-11 in conference. Then go 1-2 in tournament, finish with a nice record before going home for the summer Quote

spidersal Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Just posting on what most likely will happen. Simply goes back to Davis’s teams never performing well in the conference tournament and the fact that they always seem to struggle with UTRGV, SEL, McNeese, and Northwestern; noticeably the 3-9 record vs these teams this season( that is 9 of their 14 losses) KF89 1 Quote
spidersal Posted Friday at 01:34 AM Report Posted Friday at 01:34 AM Nice win for the Cardinals. Now 2 more for the sweep Hopefully this will continue tomorrow. 38-15 Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted Friday at 01:50 AM Author Report Posted Friday at 01:50 AM Decent crowd tonight as Hunsaker and Havard threw a combined1 hit shutout. Quote
snakehead26 Posted yesterday at 04:21 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:21 AM Lamar goes from leading 8-2 after 3 to trailing 9-8 in top of 9 to winning on a homerun in bottom of 9th 11-9. Lamar will likely finish #3, 4, or 5. 3 goes to the number two seed home while 4 and 5 will go to the number one seed home. Quote
spidersal Posted yesterday at 04:22 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:22 AM The cardinals tried to choke it up in the 8th and 9th on defense tonight, however they came through in the bottom of the night with 2 clutch hits after a walk with 2 outs The Cardiac Cards came through in the clutch again. Now 39-15 and if they can get the sweep tomorrow then we will see 40 wins in the regular season with a possible 3rd place finish going into the tournament Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted 7 hours ago Author Report Posted 7 hours ago LU 10 run rule with a 17-5 win. Zane Spinn caps it with a grand slam in bottom of 7. Ryan with a 4 RBI day. Likely headed to UTRGV as LU will be the 3 seed and face HCU again in the first game of the tourney. SELA win over Nicholls solidifies the above and they presently lead 15-1 in the top of the 6th at Nicholls. See all 2 of you in Edinburg. snakehead26 1 Quote
myrecordwashorrible Posted 5 hours ago Author Report Posted 5 hours ago LU had 1900 as the listed attendance today. Looked really nice seeing almost 2000 at a mid-major complex. Drawing like that more often would be wonderful. Crowds are much less boisterous than they were years ago. Believe we have lost some of the old men that were quick to get on umps and the opposition in years past. Another fun season at Vincent Beck and hope to enjoy many more. Great way to spend time for about 8 to 10 weekends every spring. Quote
spidersal Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Nice sweep and 3 seed with 40 wins. Don’t like the fact that they have to play HCU again. Tough to win 4 straight from another team and if they make it to UTRGV it could be disastrous for some reason they never play well against them Quote
spidersal Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Have to win the tournament to get to a regional Quote
