For some insight into Friday nights game, Raider fans go watch PNG play LCM on Time Warner "Video on Demand".

It will make you feel REAL good about the matchups @ the REZ.

Lumberton / PNG will also be the featured TV game on Time Warners Friday Night Experience so the rest of Southeast Texas will get to see first hand what the Dayton, Vidor and Central fans have witnessed thus far this year.

Raider87. I am beginning to think you do not know much about football. Please tell me what match-ups you see. Is it our very good sized and athletic o-line? How about the two 280+ d-tackles we can play? Do you think a 6'2" 225 Hemmings is weak? Did you watch Josh Wright in the Ned game? Have you seen our DB's play? Did you notice Mr. Driver running for his life all night? What about Kendrick Salter being shut down with the exception of one long run? Please break it down for me Mr. Football. I am beginning to think you have yourself convinced you have a team full of fictional Bobby Bouches that are going to ride into the REZ on an airboat and save the L-Town Trainwreck.

I understand your biased opinion just like mine but I can explain in more detail if you would like.  This is based on only seeing PNG play LCM.  My opinions may change after I watch the NED/PNG game tonight.

Size?  I see both teams are equal in size but Lumberton will have the speed advantage.  When Lumberton contained Dayton and shutdown Central offenses, I knew we had a great defense.

Do you think a 6'2" 225 Hemmings is weak?  NO but it appears he IS the PNG offense.  Our defensive speed and size will contain him.

Did you watch Josh Wright in the Ned game?  NO, I will watch that game tonight.

As far as LCM, yes they were overmatched by PNG but in the first half it was a pretty evenly matched game on both sides.

I know you are an Indian faithful much like others here.  I have tried to explain since most folks have not seen this year Raiders what they are all about.  Throw away any preconceived notions of Raider teams of the past.  The boys are something special.  It is hard to understand if you have not seen them.

What makes this game interesting is between the teams, we do not have a common district opponent we have played yet to gauge each team with.  Less than 60 hours to kickoff – May the best team win.

PS – We have already made plans for Airboat parking at Port Neches park.  The coast guard will escort us back up the Neches thru Village Creek after the game.

We have seen speed this year. You cannot be any faster than the teams we have already faced.

Hemmings is not the entire offense. Lumberton should keep thinking that. Credeur knows better.

P.S. I did not even think that the airboat concept would work. I forgot about village creek dumping into the Neches river. Ya'll might be in good shape after all.  ;)

Watch the nederland game and see if you do not see the improvement this team is making weekly. Good luck to yall, it is going to be a very good game.

Here is why Lumberton just does not have me shaking in my boots....

They have beat a bad Bridge City team 48-7....So did Silsbee (48-7), Jasper (68-3), and Kelly (49-6)

They have beat a bad New Caney team that has one won game this year against a team that has won zero.

They have beat a bad Cleveland team that was also shut out by Kirbyville who gave up 40+ points to a one win OF team last week. The same Cleveland team that Hardin Jeff beat that was beat 65-0 last week and barely beat Bridge City.

They have beat a Vidor team that will finish last in district. That is three games that was played against teams that PN-G's JV would probably beat.

The Dayton win was impressive, but I would be willing to bet if they played again the outcome would be different.

The Central win is ho-hum. Most Central fans will admit Central is not that good this year, or at least or not playing up to their potential.

That being said, I still feel like Lumberton is a very good team that could beat PN-G. What I do not buy into are all these state rankings of their defense when they basically played a 4A schools JV schedule in the pre-season plus the worst team in the district in 4 out of 6 games.

AKIFAN tell me who have yall Beat?? Ned is your only respectable win and as you said play them again and I am not sure you beat them a second time. As far as seeing teams with our speed you are correct you have and all those beat your little Injuns. I have seen the Ned game and Yall beat them but come on to say Hemmings is any more than a big slow Powerful back is untrue. We will respect him but he doesnt scare us I expect him to play a good game but would be shocked if got 100 yards. I do think that yall are a good team maybe good enough to finish second in District if you can beat Dayton and Central. Good Luck to all the local teams

Thank you, Maverick....we appreciate you guys in Lumberton feeling this way.  Looks like more than your "train" engine is puffing smoke...lol!  Get ready, the "L -ittle Lumberton Tain" will DE-rail with the mighty Indian, DE-fense at the Reservation this Friday! I do think it will be a close game, but playing at the Reservation and the NDN defense will be the difference in the game.  Just feel like it will be too much for the Raiders. I feel it will be a close game, hopefully injury free for both teams.

Once again. This is not about who beat who. YOU are the one throwing out all these stats about top 8 defense and all that crap. Four games out of six were against very very weak opponents. Your numbers are skewed. You think Hemmings is slow? You are a fool. Watch the Ned game and see if he is anything but slow.

Ok, Lumberton fans.. I am a Nederland fan and will give you a little info on your misconception about Hemmings being a BIG and SLOW back. It is not the case. And, he is not all that PN-G has at all. Hemmings is a big, powerful runner that has above average speed when he gets thru the line. I'd say 4.6-4.65 range which is pretty fast for a 225-230 lb. back. He is not all that they have either. I felt like Wright #9 hurt us more than Hemmings did. He got the corner every time he wanted it. He has speed, I would say 4.5-4.55 range. Tatum is a solid QB. They rely on their running game and their defense, but he has a good arm and two solid WR's in Doty and Johnson. They also have a TE that can catch. If you think that PN-G is just one player, then you are in for a surprise. They have two good backs, a good QB, two good WR's, a solid TE, and a tough defense against the run. Both of these teams can stop the run. i think whoever THROWS the ball better and wins the turnover battle will win this game. These two teams are like mirror images of one another in my opinion.

And to you Maverick. Run defense is our strength. Ask Ozen.....43 carries for 99 yards. That included one run of 60+ yards for a TD. Take that away and you are looking at 42 carries for 30 something yards.

Nederland had 21 carries for 70 yards.....3.3 per carry

I hate to say it and as embarrassing as it may sound, that is about our average per rush this season. I think this is why we throw 75% of the time. lol

Main reasons for the move to the spread in my opinion..

1. To take advantage of Sampere's running and throwing ability. It is a shame that he went down with the injury. He gave us another dimension on offense. Kirby has done a great job at QB for us, but is not the running threat that Sampere was.

2. Lack of size and run blocking on O-line. I think Neumann knew that run blocking would not be our cup of tea.

3. A bevy of talented WR's. We have several good ones and one GREAT one. I doubt even Neumann expected Cardenas to be this good.

I have to agree with number 3. It always amazes me how Nederland seems to have a very gifted playmaker at WR each year. Yoder, Butler, Askew, and now Cardenas. The kid made me a believer with the one handed, behind the back catch on the slant route for a TD.

He may have the best hands of any of the previous great Ned WR's. That was one helluva catch!
