Herman's Texas Longhorns

No idea who uta would pursue, but I would suggest a long look at Kirby Smart.  He is Saban 2.0 and he is younger with a competitive fire burning to win a national championship.  He recruits all over the country and defense would not be an issue.  He will ensure that you have a top defense.  Saban is too old to rebuild a program.  Kirby Smart is in his prime.  Plus, I am not aware of baggage following Kirby Smart.  No affairs, no beating women, no grade scandals, no booster issues, etc.

So do you still stand by this or ready to give him the boot if the team loses 5-6?

On the darker side, you could always sell your souls and hire Briles, I hear he’s available over in Italy or somewhere over there in Europe.

One game does not make a season!

We count wins at The EOY

Remember the my fanaticism is not fueled by wins or losses!!!!

Mensa is staring at a real possibility of starting 1-5 assuming he can beat Tulsa.

@ Maryland - L
Tulsa
#15 USC
#16 TCU
@ Kansas State
#7 Oklahoma

If that happens,

Longhorn Bob Wheeler has promised me to lead a worldwide boycott of KW real estate company

Unbelievable to come out and lose to Maryland in back to back seasons. There is no excuse. It is absolutely embarrassing. One loss doesn't define the season. I think they have a reasonable shot at competing for the Big 12 Championship, but my Lord. How can that program be so unprepared for a game. It is an absolute joke. No wonder Aggie pumps their chest so hard at UT. UT does nothing to back up the hype. Granted, Aggie doesn't do anything worth boasting about, but it happens because UT can't freaking beat Maryland. I don't blame Aggie for boasting about being average, because UT is not even average, and I am a UT fan.  It is disgracefull, they better figure it out.

I seen this take on another forum, and i for see his point..

Think about this, If you think about Ohio State offenses in the last few years when they were at there best (with Herman) they had a pocket passer who could run (Barrett, Jones,) here at Texas they have the opposite, a runner who tries to pass hence why the offense is so dead, you need to be able to pass to run which was why them Ohio State teams could do both very well.. I think the offense would flow better with a QB like Rising, (Big, great arm, but can also run if need be)..now we have a good offense and we start getting more athletes/playmakers (Wilson, Demas, Waddle) hence problem solved Texas comes out of the worse years

Also another observation, I think Herman went about it all wrong with the coaching hires, when he first got here he said he hired coaches based on recruiting purposes. Imo he should have went after the best coaches , cus at the end of the day Winning is the answer to every problem (recruits, fans, etc) but now we have coaches not including (Orlando, Washington, Navarro, Dayton) who lose recruiting battles and can’t really coach (Meringer,Giles, Wenkhemire, Beck)..One example is Herb Hand, not known as a great recruiter but is regarded as a great coach, now u have a vastly improved O-Line, and good OLine commits..If this season ain’t up to par Herman really needs to sit down and think what he is trying to do, then go out and get the coaches to make that happen, once u get the coaches the wins will come, once you get the wins the recruits will come then so on with the championships

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
