HJ Marathon

So they are scared of having to beat out one of these two to get there?

HJ feels that Silsbee has gotten too arrogant and they (HJ) need to make it to ship to boost team's confidence especially more so since Yates waxed dat azz. HJ knows they have a very good chance of beating Silsbee this season, but needs to develop the groundwork just a little more.

That's just solid planning.   After the DC made its recent ruling, we needed something else for Nederland to whine about ;)

No Whining from me about the "Transfer" because I remember when this whole site(Beaumont & PA) used to "Whine" about Nederland having "Transfers". I guess its different now from their perspective.

Hmmm,, you do realize what you are saying is that the proof is out there that HJ lacks the confidence and may be somewhat afraid of your Silsbee Tigers. Interesting concept.

This has absolutely nothing to do with us, we aren't in this tourney.  We have heard over and over how inferior we are after all they have 3 state titles, we have none.  We shouldn't even be allowed on the court with such greatness!!

So if Big Sandy and Nederland are in same pool, curious to see what the other pools look like.

It's a very, very deep field and more than likely good teams are going to be in same pool.

It is interesting though that the two finalist from last year are in same pool this year, but sometimes that's how the cookie crumbles.

Should be another great tourney!

I am surely not suggesting HJ is scared. I know that they play both those teams in non-district. I don't think anyone is suggesting that HJ be in same pool as Big Sandy and Nederland. That is just not good tourney business. Particularly when they already have those teams on their schedule.

I think the question was why those two teams, who played in championship last year, are in same pool this year? IMO, that has nothing to do with HJ and it's abilities to perform in their tourney.

If fear is the driving factor it must be a delayed fear. The Hawks play both Big Sandy and Nederland before the tourney. I haven't seen the pool bracket yet, where can this be found ?

Before the tourney has nothing to do with getting the tourney itself.  Really I am just messing with people overall.  They have put together a tough schedule. As far as the tournament goes   I only saw what people put on here and putting them in the same bracket doesn't seem like the best idea after that final last year.  And really doesn't have a lot to do with who HJ might play in the bracket to my knowledge either. I forget is it the top two out of the bracket that goes to the championship bracket or just the top one?

I wonder if the the answer could be that last years results have nothing to do with this years pairings?

Yes! That would be a good answer. And you would want to see a good championship game right? Wouldn't want HJ, Nederland and Big Sandy all in the same side of the bracket. So in order for that to happen, two teams have to eliminate each other. If I am putting on a tournament, its gonna be the other two teams. EVERYONE does it. Nothing wrong with it either.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
