Still don't see how Dawson losing was a stunning loss.
When the number 1 team in the state and most dominant 4a squad in the region loses it is pretty stunning. I know SC is ranked higher but I still think Dawson is the D1 favorite.

It didn't stun me when Ned beat Dawson (in fact I predicted a 20-17 Ned win, which was surprisingly close). About halfway into the regular season Dawson was getting really sloppy with turnovers, penalties, and giving up a lot of points. I'm not sure why the went to the post season ranked #1 when they barely got away with a win against TC.
The two teams TC lost to were a combined 25-2, TC was a beast last year and if they beat Dawson they should enter the post season undefeated this year. They also play in the 2nd hardest district in the region IMO. They have almost 1700 kids and they're the smallest school in the district. TC and Marshall would probably be the d2 favorites but they will likely have to play each other in the second round again. . . . Which could allow Code Red to sneak in. :)

After seeing footage of J. Heard ...was really hoping that guy was a senior last year.  Yikes.

SC got a nice blurb ...and they are one of the most talented in 4A ...on OFFENSE.  Like the post mentioned, defense is the big question.  Really hoping what I saw in the Spring Ball game wasn't a preview of 2013-2014.

Aside from Sharp and Allen,

OFFENSE
Johnson
Jeffreys
Braden ...but a move back to the slot would be wise IMO.
Holt-Washington
and last but not least, D CHATMAN, but I am worried about his confidence.  Seems to need a lot of positive reinforcement from what I'm told.  If he doesn't rush for over 500 yards by the midway point of the season, we're transferring him to New Caney or Porter.

DEFENSE
Francis
Jackson
Wilson (he's a hitter and has put on a lot of size this year)
Sarafin (not sure how much time he'll see ...I hear he's a hitter, big kid too)
[Place Holder for surprise stand out on the line we desperately need]
[Place Holder for surprise stand out at DB we desperately need]

On O-Line our center Harrison Thompson was 1st team all district as a guard last season, hopefully his leadership will do well with an undersized but experienced line.
The leader on D-line is Cordarrell Davis. I expect Hanora to do well at nose.
I expect Graves and Reece to stand out at safety and corner respectively. Also, corner Amiri Jones is one to watch, looked really good in spring ball.
Wasn't Sarafin a freshman last year? I don't think he will start over Dakota or Jacob.

Am excited about the returning O line starters in terms of their experience.  Hopefully we'll see some more lbs and muscle show up by late August.

It will be nice to see some new guys taking the reigns on D-line.  I mainly focused on Matlock last year.

I really don't know much about the DB's you mentioned.  Jenkins, Goree, and Stewart pretty much saw all the time at corner.

Sarafin was a Freshman last year.  Looks like he made the Varsity squad this year.  IMO he should definitely see time in the 4th quarter if SC is up big.  If he plays as well as expected, he may crack into the rotation.  Tre Wilson should be a good one at LB too.  Gonna be few guys fighting for time at LB this year.

Jeferys? He is new to the squad. And new to the program.. Does he come to practice? He would have some proving to do IMO. Just because he looked good on one team doesn't mean he will look good on another.

I agree but being the new horse in the barn i am sure he will be getting some early looks to see where he fits... he might fit into the puzzle in a different area in SC...

Yep, transferred from CE King.  I believe he attended all the Spring ball practices.  I'll ask about his attendance to speed and strength and 7-on-7.

You make good points.  I'd be really surprised if Jeffreys screwed around at SC as long as we're winning.

Not sure how much CE King's losing played into attitudes.  Could have been an Allen Iverson thing ..."practice?  we're talking about practice?"  They only won THREE games last season (Porter, New Caney, and Humble).

They had attitude problems at Dayton from what you tell me and those guys WON 9 games straight ...until The Greatest Show on Turf came to town.

If we had to lose, no shame in going down to region champ  ...as did everyone else in this region.
