1. Another poll with a PNG-nominee.  I'd have to bet on this one.
 2. Reputations ain't nothing but a thing in the past.  It is what you learn from these that will get you thru today and lead you into tomorrow.  The community from Vidor has arrived.  To the Ozen and Lamarque coaches/ players --the question is,  where do you want to go with this incident?  Your choices will help you choose your destiny.  8)
 3. I do believe that Coach Nelson offered a sincere statement.  The other two IMO had a little help in sweeping some of the facts under the rug.  BOTH teams had players make bad choices and they know who they are.
 4.

And just to be fair to the Galveston County Daily News, the tweeter is not a reporter for that paper or any media outlet in the Houston area but is rather a freelance guy who just likes to flap his gap. He was a FORMER sports editor for the Galveston County Daily News until about a year ago when he was abruptly dismissed.  His activity on this issue might give some insight as to why that dismissal took place.
Correct!! He tweeted a bunch of falsehoods about this case and is trying to come off as some important reporter/blogger. He tweeted nothing but bogus remarks, no facts at all!
He definitely has a future as a political correspondent.  Just like this guy, I believe that there are also lots of posters on here that will mislead us on the facts, and lots of readers that buy into them.  I love it when I read a statement from a poster that later says he was not there.  Hello credibility.  Both teams participated, and the real class acts will eventually show up, when the schools deal with them.  Failure to deal with this on both teams will repeat itself.

Ozen has nothing to eat crow about.  They were the Cinderella team of 20-4A and went 3 rounds deep in the play offs.  They should be proud as is the whole community.
Thanks +1 karma for you...thanks for being in our corner all year
Since yo got her all excited about the +,  I gave her one because you cant.  I have the power.  LOL
 6.
Jermaine Alfred not Jamal. You left off Brian Johnson-Utah Olin's "swimmers" had nothing to do with Drew's ability. You can thank Mr. Tate and Martha Olin for that. Olin was and is an outstanding offensive coordinator. I would be shocked if he got the job at Crosby.

Do you really think he would live there knowing he had to do something illegal to get Drew to Lee? Your sour grapes stuff gets old. Brian Johnson was the only qb that was recruited in.  Ell stayed right on the other side of the tracks from Lee High School in Oak Addition.
Guys, I did not intend to further split Baytown in its territorial fighting--LOL Thanks for clarifying my errors.  My intentions was to show how successful these QB's were because of this coach.  Clint only played QB his senior year and was quickly recruited into D1 which means the scouts frequented Lee games. When you have such specialty success at the HS level, you dont have to recruit outside because the outside is trying to find a way to get to your program.  I think this is the case with Olin.  Any way, if Crosby fans enjoy scoring TD's and wide open football with lots of exciting plays, then Olin should be considered. Panama, I believe you already know that i followed Lee quite often during those years.  I also, have met coach Olin at CD's on Saturday mornings.  BTW--CD's is the best breakfast taco place in SETX.  ;D
 7.
This guy is nothing more than the 'forum jester'.
HELLO---Thats my job.  ;D
 8. Olin cached 4 D1 big school starters that were also successful at that level.  One was drafted into the Pro's. Jamaal (sp) Alfred  BAylor Clint Stoerner --Arkansas-then Dallas Cowboys El Roberson--Kansas Jayhawks Drew Tate-- Iowa --Canada Some might say he knew where to find them but IMO he can teach and coach them.  The last one above was home grown by one of his own little swimmers.  The only thing he recruited on that one was the mother.
 9. Somebody asked what a LOBO is? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobo_(DC_Comics)Cached - Similar Lobo is a fictional character that appears in the comic books published by DC Comics. The character first appears in Omega Men #3 (June 1983), and was ... Publication history - Fictional character biography - Powers and abilities This is what I found.  Its a nobody or a wannabe--I cant tell for sure.  :P
 10.

Having gone back and read the original "letter to the editor", I saw a lot of similarities to something that I am close too (Mods, will you grant me a little lee way?) While this is high school we are talking about, it very much parallels the college I attended, UTEP.  For years, heck, decades, UTEP was everyone's stomping boy.  We were the doormat, under the doormat.  0-12, 1-11, 2-10 records were the norm.  A good season was considered 3-9. Attendance stank, and every 3-4 years, the chorus went out..."we need a new coach!"  And every 3-4 years, they got one...only to suffer the same fate. A few years ago, we got a coach "in disgrace".  Mike Price had been summarily fired by Alabama, before even coaching a single game.  Seems he was supposedly in Florida with strippers after a golf tourney(a lawsuit later clarified the situation, and he got some big bucks for slander, but I digress).  He took the hapless Miners from losers to bowl games, and his records have been 9-3, 8-4, 4-8, 5-7, 5-7, 6-6, 5-7 since.  He has had the team in 90% of the games they played and lost, and defeated teams like Houston.  However, since the fans got a taste of success in his early years, they think that this is normal, that a team that was always on the wrong end of ugly, should now compete with the likes of SMU, Houston,  and other storied programs.  I am again hearing the chorus of "new coach, new coach", and "bring in a young hungry guy" as the coach.  Like HJ is percieved as a high school, UTEP is also percieved as a college...a basketball school. The problem is, the singers of this chorus of "new coach new coach", want to get a great "champagne" name on a watered down beer budget.   They want first class results at a 5th class price.  I don't know the dynamics of HJ's administration, but reading the letter from the "fan" in the BE, I can see the same type of thinking... How do you get a winning program? 1.  Get out there for the kids...whether it's Pop Warner, junior high, or high school, or college, whether the record is 10- or 0-10, get out there for them.  These kids and young men get out there and take their health in their hands to give you a game.  They get sprains, broken bones, concussions, and other injuries for no pay, for only the chance to hear a cheer from you every once in a while. 2.  Don't think the new guy will be any better...sometimes, he can be worse.  Support the program, and you would be surprised how much the program improves.  If you haven't done anything but complain, and haven't gone to many games, you have no room to talk.  That would be like a player getting to play first string without attending practice.    3.  Get stupid for your hometown team.  The colors, the spirit stickers, whatever.  Let those kids see the community behind them.  Plain and simple, if they see you don't care...why should they? Good luck HJ...in EVERY sport!
Great post elhector1!
Indeed  a good post except one suggestion.  Serve the watered down beer first, and then after a few (like 6-9) any Champaigne would be acceptable.  ;)
 11.
Suspend the head coaches from both schools for the first 3 games next year, and no playoff appearance next year. This will get the coaches and players attention. I doubt these two teams will be allowed to play at Stallworth in the future. The one's involved this year should be sent to alternative school just like if you get in a fight at school That way the seniors this year get sort of punishment). To top it off, make both schools write apology letters to each other. This all seems harsh, but it's a serious issue that needs to be dealt with swiftly and firmly. I agree that LM shouldn't have to forfeit the next game. That's unfair to them since Ozen is out of the playoffs. BTW, I want to comment on the posters bashing the cops. You guys that bash cops are clueless, there are bad apples in every profession, but this was a situation where no administrator, parent, coach, etc.. has a say so in how the cops handle your students, kids, etc.. If you fight, it's against the law and the police have every right to take action whether you like it or not. If you want to buck the cops then you'll be dealt with either by more cops, papper spray, taser, or whatever. The cops did the right thing with the least amount of force to control a situation that was out of control. They should've started putting some people in jail to make a point, but they didn't and you still have people crying about the cops. Obey the law!!!! ok, off my soap box.
Now this is a post that makes sense.  You have to remove the biased temptations to make a good point.  I totally agree that people are clueless regarding the cops and folks in charge of security.  You have to be able to use sopme type of force when your dealing with emotional, hyped up, tetosterome filled young men.  Especially if they are wearing pads and cleats.  I am sure both schools are not happy this happened as they nervously wait for the consequences of the actions of a few that chose poorly.
 12. As far as this topic.  Make both teams watch the 3rd and 4th quarter of an Aggies game.  Thats been torture for me all season long.
 13.
I agree-Murr and Harrison are both great hires.  Brian Johnson left because Haynes was hired and brought his son as the QB, he and Phllip beck set records.  Bryan wasn't going to play QB so he left.  Olin has the most impressive resume but, that doesn't mean his the best hire for Barrett Station(crosby).  Crosby needs to act fast though, spring ball is right around the corner. I would like to see Harrison get it. I would also like to see Freemon get it. Heck I would like to see a african-american coach in Crosby for a change.  That is probably what Barrett Station wants.
So skin color is important.  Is this what I am supposed to think?
i thought you was from Euless Trinty area!!! :o-sfa85
You got jokes.  I pull for the Hood in most cases.  PAM, Central, and Ozen here.  Teams like Yates and Madison and in the DFW, Carter and ET....... 15.
This Dawg will hunt!!! Great to have a District 21-5A match-up for a date with state regional champs from Region 4! I must say the Darkside is playing championship ball. 4 sacks on Haack, a forced fumble off a sack and TWO Ints!  Katy had only 2 runs of 10 yds or more. I am very impressed by their discipline and grit. Turned the tide on the Tigers because the first two meetings we stood no chance as the games wore on (42-0 and 37-6). GREAT JOB BULLDOGS.  Sidenote: Katy's second half run out banner read: KATY WILL TEACH LA PORTE HOW TO PLAY FOOTBALL!!  ::)
Obvious that they are good teachers.  More like on the job training.
 16.
I said STARTED on Varsity for one.  I was a two year Letterman and enjoyed my position.  When every senior player showed up the Monday following our final Friday night loss, we were all told to move our s*it out of the locker room we had worked so hard to get to.  Keep in mind "Coach Wade", that 2001 team was a playoff team (and Mathews' first at Vidor) so don't act like you know the real Jeff Mathews because we were thrown to the slums and disregarded not even 72 hours after our final game.  Out with the old, in with the new.
You are obviously in a huge minority on this one.  Best you not try and win this.  Perhaps we are seeing why he did not want you to hang around.  Maybe mentoring was not your fortet.  ;)
 17. Just read the update and realized I work with you DAD.  He's been giving us updates also.  Folks have really been praying for you.  Good luck on all of your recovery.
vidor homers i love it if yall would open yalls eye and see threw the black and gold haze you might realize that vidor is not the greats coaching gig there are many other schools that mathews would excel at, do i want him to leave no, anyone that comes on here talking bad about vidor or just stateing facts they get bashed it shows just how much yall really know not much
You would represent yourself much better if you'd just shut up.  Your not only off this topic, but just flat wrong.
 19. Congrats to the Vidor coaches, players and your supporting community.  This season is a great reflection on the progress and accomplishments for the entire community.  I also think you guys have done a great job on representing SETX.
 20.
I was born in the back seat of a 56' Chevy Bellair in downtown Vidor. So I have a special interest in Vidor football.  ;D
I agree with you that Life begins at conception.  ;D Congrats  to Vidor
 21. in a game of X's and O's, the difference in theis game was the P's.  Take any one of these away and Da Brook advances. Point aftter TD blocked -1 Punt return missed judged and fumbled resulting in a TD -7 Punt snap for 30 yard loss resulting in a TD -7 Penalties against the Brook killed drives. Specialty play unfortunately makes a huge contribution for Deep Park.  Without these 4P's--Deer Park was not in the game.  Eventually, they just wore us out because we gave them the opportunities.  WB offense looked good and the defense did quite well until they got low on gas.
 22. This is a double victory for me.  Ozen wins And takes out the trash.  ;D
 23. We need more of these types of group virtual hugs.  Good luck to both teams.
