2-0 and 3-1 are hitters counts.  You try to hit the ball over the lights on those counts.  That's probably why he swung.
Not when it's your 9 hole who has been struggling and you have your best hitter up next. I'm taking all the way.

 3.
All of those Richmond LL's go to the Fort Bend Schools not to the Lamar Consolidated school districts. They may have one or two mind you but as a whole no.
I'm not sure if Richmond feeds a different school now but in 2008 - 2009 Lamar Consolidated had 6 players on their team that played on the 2003 Little League World Series team. I have a son the same age that faced them in both Little League and Junior League playoffs. It may have changed recently but as far as the 2003 World Series Team, the majority of those kids did attend Lamar Consolidated. Randall Grichuck, Brady Rodgers, Cody Robinson, Wayne Willis, Eli Sepulveda, and Brandon Hollek were on both teams.

 6. Colby named to the All-Conference 1st team in the Red River Athletic Conference. [Hidden Content] UT-Brownsville finished 3rd in the Conference Tournament this past weekend. A day after being named to the All Conference Team, Colby went 2 for 5 with a 3-run HR deep over the scoreboard in left center against Texas Wesleyan. [Hidden Content] He followed that up the next day with a 3 for 4 day with a Solo HR over the lights in left field, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored against Texas College. [Hidden Content] UT-B was eliminated from the tournament the following day to end their season and the existence of the baseball program due to budget cuts. Colby finished the season with a .324 avg., 7 HRs, 9 2bs, 1 3b, 36 RBIs, 26 BB, .960 OPS. Looking forward to seeing what's in the future!

 8.
I just assumed that Long was the guy ...I thought he was the # 1 last year..It doesnt matter they are both good
Long was the #1 last year and I agree with what you said, just thought I'd clear up why Thames was the starter in a one gamer. Coach wasn't being cocky as stated earlier, just pitching the guy he thinks gives him the best chance to win.

Saw a couple of scouts with radar guns on the big closer .. He was throwing 91 to 92 mph... Kind of cocky not starting your ace in a 1 gamer
According to the Baytown Sun article from last week the starter in tonight's game, Thames, is the #1. From the Baytown Sun April 27th: No. 5 – Barbers Hill baseball team. The Eagles have taken flight under head coach David Denny. Denny guided Kingwood to a pair of state championships and has the Eagles poised to win the outright 19-4A title with a victory over Crosby tonight. Barbers Hill has one of the most competitive players in the area in Christian Thames. They also have one of the best athletes in the area in sophomore Kaleb Denny. If Grayson Long can be a strong No. 2 starter, the Eagles have a shot to make quite a playoff run.
Maybe so but wouldn't have scored any in that inning without the help! Thanks!
Rip...have you ever pitched?  An E starting off an inning has thrown the best of pitchers in a funk.... Were you ever a pitcher????
Not since little league. But can you read? I didn't disagree with the E effecting Brown. I'll help you a little since you obviously didn't understand what I was commenting on. The part of your post that I put in bold print is what I commented on. You said "BH is gonna score. No help from anyone." Well if not for the help we would still have 0. Help comes from both the Errors and the Walks. Now does that make since. ;)

The pitching we face in the playoffs will be much improved compared to what we've seen so far. The '08 team is an example of what can happen if you can't hit the ball when the pitching improves. You've got to do it all to make a deep run.
That and make your grades so you are eligible to play.  ;) Give you a call later, Rip. Jr had smoke coming from the gun last night.  ;D
True, but that was only one player and the bats were silent in that series. The pitching as good as it was couldn't carry the team which was my point. You still have to play defense and put some runs on the board.
 18.
Newcomb, Denny, Thompson, Bonnin - Are they all batting over .400 ?  I know two of the four are.
I have no clue. You're obviously more in the know than I am. Stats aren't posted anywhere that I'm aware of. The GCM game was the best I've seen us play and that needs to continue. Great team effort with many contributors to the win. The team just needs to continue this when the competition gets better. Brown from Nederland will be a great first round test if we face them.

 20. UT Brownsville was swept by Northwood this weekend ( 3-0, 8-2, 8-2 ) dropping into 2nd place in conference with a 13 - 5 record, 23 - 14 overall. Colby was 6 for 10 in the 3 games with a 2B, Home Run, 2 RBIs, and 2 BB. UTB had only 13 hits in the 3 games. Hopefully we can get the bats going during this week of non conference games.
 21. Brett Marshall - Baytown Sterling - Yankees - 2008 Hunter Cervenka - Baytown Sterling - Red Sox - 2008 Jeremy (Gabby) - Crosby - Blue Jays - 2011 (Not sure how to spell the last name. Didn't want to butcher it)
 22. Freeman pitched very well, only gave up 1 hit last night in his 5 innings of work.
