1. The kids have alot of natural basketball IQ which helps the situationn alot.  I watched the loss to Kingwood Park last year and they were basically Ned with two good players and they played sound fundamental ball.  They did have a few extra good ball handlers which helped alot as well.  But I watched Centrals head coach give up at the beginning of the first quarter. This is High School and 20 point leads can be erased in two quateres.  He was subbing in bench kids (that normally get no PT) in the early late potions of the second quarter. Then right after intermission he sat down and stopped coaching. No time outs, no direction, no yelling, and no play calling.  In the fourth quarter the other team got complacent and let Central back in the game, he finally tried to start coaching again.  He got up, yelled pays, too late!  The thing that worries me the most is watching the schemes throughout the playoffs.  The talent is there and the kids make up for it with pure basketball knowledge.  They ran a Georgetown trap, but the kids were out of position.  They comitted to the middle intead of forcing the dribbler to the sideline.  They over committed often and left there space on the floor. Samething in the half court.  These kids had not been taught roperly and it showed.  I think the top 3 kids had it down packed but as they rotated players in you could see the confusion.  That is why I believe basketball IQ will be big for this squad.  But they will not develop fully without the proper teaching and reinforcement.  The other BIG problem was no PURE PG........ Let see if that changes this year with some new talent.
2. Central does not play the same style as Yates.  Yes they both run but there are very fundamental differences in the styles of play.  Yates offensive scheme starts with the press, as funny as that sounds.  And the press is very disciplined, its the offense that is not.  Yates almost never over run or over trap in the press.  They get back fast and play in your face chest-to0chest to keepo a team in the up paced once they cross half court.  Number 1 priorty is force quick, bad shots and get the rebound.  Qucik scores with no set offense.  Now when you put them in the half court they like jumpers and crashing the boards.  There is an occassional back side screen and cut but mostly just get the ball on the rim and out athlete everyone for the putbacks.  Central on the other hand has NO discipline on the press.  It is just a thing that will get them out of place in the half court.  They would much prefer the half court and press late in the game.  Also, they have more of an inside out game, and the guards love to stay in the high post.  The biggest issue is that with the lack of coaching they rarely stay in this scheme.  Its normally the kids making it up as they go.  As you can see I have no respect from the coaching in Jaguar land and that is why the will be a great regular season team and bow out in regionals when they see a good coach with at least 2 good players.  Yates has a method to the madness, Central is just madness.
3.
5a Question,Seems NS made a statement w/2nd half explosion on Manvel(or was Manvel ranked to high?NS @ this point looks to be the early dist frontrunner w/convincing wins over Clear Springs 522 yds of O & Manvel 569 yds of O
I was at this game... Northshore two headed sophmore running backs are NICE!  Manvel QB is nice but the run defense wore down second half.  Also, Northshore made the Manvel recievers short armed.
4. Yeah Jamal was a beast Shanderrick Charles is forgotten but was a joy to watch... He had a mean stiff arm for a little dude. Leeland McElroy was a blaze Christin Michaels
5. You keep them both, neither are allstars, both are possible starters but could be beat out any day.  You need to decide which is the starter and the other makes your second team very strong.  Right now Dragic starts because scores really well/ but is an OK defender if you start Lee (because Lee is a really good defender).  If KMart (no D) is starting go with Lowry as the starter because he is the better defender.  I think the biggest move will be to trade Scola either to move up in the draft or for an extra 2nd rounder (that would be three 2nd round picks to deal for other moves).  Let the young studs, Patterson & Morris, fight out for the starting 4.  Start Dalembert but draft a nice young center at the 17th pick and allow Camby's contract to die out! Swing for the fence with the first pick and go Barnes, Perry Jones, or Beal.  The issue is that the Rockets don't have a star and these three have start potential.    But these are ideal senarios.  Either way, trade Scola and allow your young Bigs to play!  The could rade the second pick down for some assets and take Fab Melo! Personally I don't resign Kmart.
6. I would rather see something where scouts rate the kids and only the top 10 Highscholl players could jump.  But that would not be fair.  So I say let them jump but if you come to college it must be 2 years.  It is really the individuals issue if they don't get drafted or fail to become a NBA talent. I look at Gerald Green.  If he had went to college he would not have to prove himself 4 years (could have had a college degree) later.  He is a rare one that gets a second chance.  Usually some kid with your same potential comes out two years down the line and they forget about you!
7.
If that kid could have learned to play the PG position for FOUR years, he would have been BIG TIME...He will be fine in Jerre's system at Highland, and will be a heck of a steal for some program two years from now.
3 This is so ture... I think he was a BIG TIME talent that was mis-lead in high school.  By now he should be a TOP PG instead he played a hybrid forward because of his athleticism.  He would have been unguardable at PG!
8. I believe is super quick with his feet and his decision making.  He has all the skills. He will look better passing to better players, it seemed as if his vision was a little to advanced for most he played with.  I think he can be a point guard in the league but he needs to improve his on-ball defense, he is goo in the passing lanes.  It would be better to leave next year, which will be considered a weak draft.  Only the right situation will do for this kid, still missing the "IT" factor.  Too bad his body growth did not cooperate with his skill level.
9. Richard played most recently at Team Rio de Janeiro (Eurobasket) in the U.S. While playing 3 games for Rio de Janeiro last season he recorded 19.7ppg, 8.3rpg, 6.3apg, 2.3spg and 1.7bpg.
10.
Would it be safe to say J. Brown is really the only major talent from this area in the last 5 years?
Kris Richards was up there too... Three year starter at Tulane
11. Silsbee posters hove moved on to next year while this thread is still growing.  Let it go, great run, but you fell short.
12. 3 in a row makes the rooster crow.... Those kiss needed something to play for or against so those statements in whatever way have worked. Went from sixth place to second and a first round bye.
13. Nobody talks about it but I was an active member on this board when a moderator revealed DVs true identity. Now y'all can all pick at him over cyberspace when he says something you don't like. Words that probably would not be said to his face. Yeah he antagonizes y'all about your teams, but does that give y'all liberty to assassinate his character? No! ranking on a person's fanhood is way different that bashing some one as a person that you really do not know. I mentioned a lack of Respect for Lee because he obviously quit on the kids, but I do will not attack his personal life.  Some say be careful what u wish for, we all wanted Rice gone, but at least he knew basic basketball principles and taught them well!
14. Homeless, the call was in KSmiths favor, it was not a negative reaction to a call, it was a inexplicable reaction, but not a negative one
15. FYI, KP had no stand out talent, just a bunch of well coached kids. One guard was a good shooter, none could really dribble except the freshman off the bench, and one big that was a matchup knightmare. But no KSmiths or TGreens to be scene.  the Central freshman post was the best player on the court last night, and he was inexplicably sat the entire 3rd and most of the second quarters.
16.

Why was the central player ejected, I seen on the news he threw the ball but was there something else??
My understanding is that both T's were chicken crap calls.  the first one was after a foul.  Kristain was walking to the free throw line and turned around fast and he and a Kingwood Park players almost ran into each other.  The did the routine brush to the side so that Kris can get to the line and the KP player can line up in the paint.  there were no words, but both players were given a double tech.  The second tech was for throwing the ball after a call.  There was no ref there to throw the ball to, so kris threw the ball at the sidelines, I guess, for the insuing inbound.  Ref T'ed him up.
Even worse, the ball throwing was for a call that went for KSmith, it was not done out of frustration. And on the first one both kids were going to the sideline, facing their coaches after a time out and bump each other. It was a casual push off like they always do, left the crowd stunned.  Then a Central player went for a block, got ball but got body too. It was a hard foul but the refs called it a tech, then the same thing happened on the opposite end but the Central player stumbled instead of hitting the ground, it was a regular foul. It was then another suspect call on the baseline in a non shooting situation. In that stretch central went from being down 4 to down 18..... Never got back in it.

However, I can not except quitting on the team, it was obvious that is what happened tonight.  Playing a player significant minutes that had not played since the YMBL. Stating your best big for the a great deal of minutes including the entire third quarter. Going small after Christian was ejected, getting out rebounded 11-1 on that call going from 8 down to 18 down purely on rebounds. If u quit u should resign, I know he has to feed his family but that was piss poor. quitting on the kids is un acceptable. I lost ALL respect for Lee tonight. The kp coach did one heck of a job, no true talent but they do exactly what he says and it works, great job kp.
So you are saying that in the last few games of the regular season and the first couple of games in the playoffs, you had no quarrel/complaint with the coach but as soon as he loses, you lose all respect?
No Steve if u look at the last game I went to, which they won, I complained about the coaching. Ask soulja or DV they know I like to examine the situations from type of defense vs. offense or vice versa.  or I personnel is out of place on certain plays. Soulja sat right next to me and he would tell u I complain about the coaching and gave the kids kudos for the win.
