Under that premise, a sports team would complain "we can't win because the nieghborhood our stadium is in isn't as nice as others". Just another excuse. The "poor" schools are highly subsidized by the others (Robin Hood) as it is. If anything, the "poor" have access to government programs the others don't. Maybe the "poor" should stop destroying their own schools. The eternal victim mentality destroys personal inititive and ambition. What about college admissions? "Poor" and minorities are given preference over middle class whites every day. Ever heard of "race norming" scores? Google that, and Hopwood vs. UT, too... Very much in agreeance!!!!

Don't know much about Livingston except they went 3 deep last year, but remember 2 years ago when Dayton was being picked 4 or 5 in that district I wouldn't count Liviingston out they may just take this district.

BH to restructure their Football Coaches
BHFAN replied to BH96's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Wut is wrong with you fannnnnnnn? All BH does is win and you ATE happy? When I saw them they aired it out pretty good and went down field plenty. Better be nice BHFan Junior will be up there one day. 8) I just would like to see more W's in the playoffs! I'm happy with the sucess BH has had over the past 9 years in district, but most of those wins we were the big boys in district. With BH now having to compete at another level things will have to evolve if we wish to compete and be successful in 4A. I'm your typical spoiled fan and it has been way to long for BH (70's) not to have made a descent run in the playoffs! 99' was the last good run (3 rounds) and haven't been there since and God knows that we have had enough talent to do so. -
I prefer to call it The University of Baytown ;D
-
Ahhh I got home and found my DC mag ;D and Dayton is listed as turning in 1,353.5! I hope that .5 guy isn't on the football team he would be hell to bring down ;D Better than Baytown Memorial they have 1537.48????? I have seen the .5 but .48

BH to restructure their Football Coaches
BHFAN replied to BH96's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think he should take a job with the Baytown Sun ;D Also I think that there is no time like the present and I hope that he can put together a good combination of coaches and leave them alone to call the plays as they see fit. Last year the best called game was against GP!! It didn't mean a thing for us and we were trying all kinds of things! The main thing that I'm tired of seeing at BH is a conservative game plan and play calling. Take some chances sometime go for broke show us something!!!!! It always seems that we play not to lose instead of playing to win like GP last year!!! Its ok to lose, but when you don't take any chances during the lose it sucks!! Goodluck to the coaching staff and coach Price -
If they do I'm painting the town Red or should i say Blue and White ;D I'm still in SHOCK that they are on the schedule

I got your number... teams that seem to own the other?
BHFAN replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have been waiting for someone from Kirbyville or WOS to post this, but I guess not. Griff I am very dissapointed in you ;D For BH Owned by Kirbyville (That was difficult to type, but they got us the last and only two times we have played :'( ) Own Galena Park (That would be the most recent anyway) -

Thanks for the Info. I wonder with these area's growing if Liberty will see any growth? Just like Dayton, BH and Liberty was always a good game!
-
No ducking my friend ;D Dayton went on a growing streak and left BH in 1A. The two schools have not played because of the classification and size ,but now BH is grow at such a rate that they will be much larger than Dayton in the next 4 to 6 years possible going to 5A in 10 where we can finially start whooping up on Port Aurther again ;D That is if yall are not 1A by then :'( That won't be that much larger, Dayton is growing as well at fairly steady pace, a controlable one anyway. Plus I do not want to hear about the Jr High teams, Lumberton used that excuse for 40 years. Anyway we will see what we see, but again I will take my chances with Stewart anytime! It looks like Dayton's numbers are declining. I don't have the Dave Campbells book with me, but is said Dayton was at 1300 something students and BH was at 1055. Didn't Dayton used to be about 1600 strong? Just curious because I though Daytown was growing as well.

I don't think Jerry would suit up folks like yourself (Add Dumb) ;D , but if he did you would be in trouble. Ask the younger Daytonians what is coming up at BH in the next couple of years they will tell ya
-
Dont get too excited this year is yours, but the next couple of years you will have fun with BH ;D
-
Dayton big this year!!! Yall have a great team and BH is still trying to get established in 4A. BH will be more competitive inthe years to come, but this years Bronco team will have no troubles in district. The only folks that view this as a rival are those that remeber with Dayton and BH played these two teams put on a show back in the day. Goodluck to the Bronco's this year it should be a good one for you.

Crawford Takes Over North Forest Job
BHFAN replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Mark my word that this team will be the new power house in this district soon. I watched this coach last year and the difference from how Smiley played before him was night and day! He beat us last year during the closing seconds with a hook and ladder play that caught our D completly off gaurd. I like seeing coaches that take chances and Crawford does just that! -
; Or the one in Port Arthur ohhh never mind I thought you said Stink hole ;D No matter how you slice it, the real West Side of Port Arthur had the Hill wearing a French maid outfit after we got done with them. Was it 8-4 SFA all time or something like that??? Yeah you caught BH in a bad Decade, too bad your school couldn't last long enough for some payback ;D That would be 2 bad decades my friend. We got some Hill hiney in the '90s also.... BTW, Port Acres/SFA's been around since the '40s so y'all should've taken advantage of all your opportunities.... Dang it! Where were yall in the 50's and 70's we would have killed yall ;D Hey all teams have some great years look at Sealy in the 90's compared to now Goodluck on your season SFA I know BH has left a bad taste in your mouth, but we love ya anyways
-
And maybe a monkey will fly out of my *** (Ya Know) ;D Seriously though I am glad these are coming back I miss the double and triple header state games that were played at the dome!!! Well if West Brook played BH's garbage a$$, they would knock a monkey out of all your players *** (Ya Know) Yup ;D ,but we won't be in the 5A playoffs either lose about 1500 students and get back with us.

Barbers Hill looking to raise the bar in 4A By Michael Pineda Baytown Sun Published June 26, 2008 MONT BELVIEU — In its two years competing in Class 4A, the Barbers Hill athletic department has proven that it can hold its own. Now it is time to expand on the success the Eagles have enjoyed and make more of an impact. Competing in District 21-4A, the school won 10 district championships and saw most of its teams finish in the top two in the district despite being one of the smallest schools in Class 4A. “It was a good solid year athletically,†Price said. “There were disappointments and you never feel happy when you play your last game and it isn’t in the state championship. We’re still not where we want to be in terms of being competitive year in and year out in 4A. “We are still growing and, as we grow, our pool of athletes will be bigger. We are going to continue to compete as best we can.†According to Price, the key for Barbers Hill to continue to compete in the coming years will be the participation of athletes in multiple sports. In talking with former Southlake Carroll and present University of North Texas head coach Todd Dodge, Price was told the key to success is maintaining the small school mentality as the numbers increase. “The biggest detriment in the future will be specialization,†Price said. “As we grow, we need to keep the small school mentality. We need our kids to compete in multiple sports. “Schools that have lots of specialization are limited in how well they can compete in all sports.†This past season, Barbers Hill started off on a strong note by winning district championships in volleyball, team tennis and cross-country. The girls’ cross-country team headlined those sports by advancing to the state meet with a third-place finish at regionals and finished 11th in Austin. The football team was the lone sports program that did not advance into the playoffs. The Eagles finished 6-4 with a rebuilt team that had to replace 19 full-time starters and was fourth in the district. Under new UIL guidelines, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs this fall. “It’s one of those things; the multiple qualifiers for the playoffs has been accepted,†Price said. “Year in and year out, there has been some competition that has been left out of the playoffs and that is why we went to two playoff teams in the first place. “It is more beneficial that more kids get compete in the playoffs. We will just have to wait and see. I don’t have any negatives about it and if we make it, we will like it. But our goal is to win the district.†During the winter, both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams advanced to the area playoffs and in the spring, Barbers Hill got back to winning district championships. Both track teams and tennis teams won district with Jess Williams qualifying for state in the 800-meter run and finishing seventh. The golf teams finished second in district 21-4A with the boys, paced by fourth-place medalist Austin Snell, taking fifth at regional. The girls took seventh place. The baseball team was ranked in the top 10 for most of the season and won district before bowing out in the area round of the playoffs. The softball team also won district and advanced to the regional finals before dropping a pair of 1-0 decisions to Nederland in the final two games of the best-of-three series. In all, three Barbers Hill athletes were named all-state and 10 received academic all-state mention. Sixteen athletes will move on to compete at the collegiate level next year. The underclassmen will return to compete in 19-4A. Forest Brook and Smiley have combined into North Forest while Goose Creek Memorial and Kingwood Park will replace Huffman and New Caney. Crosby, Galena Park and C.E. King all return. “This year the district will be more competitive with the addition of Dayton and the consolidation of Forest Brook and Smiley, especially in the boys’ sports,†Price said. “You never know but I think the addition of Kingwood Park will bring another level of competition in girls’ sports.†Barbers Hill will enter next season with a couple of personnel changes. A new softball hire is in the works to replace Kirk Hall, who accepted the softball job at Goose Creek Memorial. The football staff will also add a coach to replace long-time assistant Andy Terrasso, who retired this year. Other changes include the addition of an auxiliary football field and track to decrease wear and tear at the high school facility.
