I'm not concerned as much about our defense, as I am our offense. I was in one of our local restaurants, and over heard two guys talking about how great our offense was going to be next year. I'm glad everyone is pumped up, so am I, but I can't figure out how we are going to run the wishbone, when we don't have any real running backs? I just don't see any big, fast, powerful running backs to make the wishbone successful. Plus don't we need three or four of them? Then where do we get a option QB? Does anyone know any of these answers? I'm excited, but a little nervous also.
Hope you get your answers here because I was wondering the same thing. ;D -
How about we wait until some W's are put up before we bow down to the school board. Their voice in who is hired is not as big as you might think.
Not to worry Stranger. There are still some serious issues on the school board and I think most folks know that. It is just that the sinners won't come out and support the elections so the church vote is twice as strong as it should be but I know that you know that. Like we say in the USA, if ya don't vote don't complain and our voters just don't come out on those days. I vote so I will continue to complain but I'm sure I will be taking some shots now!!!!! ;D -

He is FANTASTIC and just exactly what Barbers Hill needed. I had heard great things, and I can tell you he is definitely the real thing. Way to go BH and everyone who had anything to do with bring him here!
Sorry I missed it!!!!! I thought you all may not appriciate me sharing this head cold with everyone. I'll be there in august though. Rock on Coach!!!!!! -
I think the new AD wants to do away with Baseball. They just had a news story that they have removed over 50 bats from the high school. Oh wait...sorry. It was not baseball bats, but the flying/biting kind. My bad. ;D
Yea, I was waiting to see who was going to play off the BAT STORY. I really thought someone would go after the school board with that one. You know something like Bats removed from BH High School....new school board election coming soon. ;D -

I know of 3 interviews that he has been on recently, may be more that I dont know about.
Hmmm... I wonder? If Price goes to a district BH has to compete against and they beat THE HILL will the school board bring him back like they did Skidmore? LOL
Hopefully the new coach would see that making an adjustment is not a sign of weakness unlike the game you are referring too. People still call that game out because it was a game plan that went after the coach’s mentality more so than the players and as you well know he played right into it. ;D ;D -

It is just hard to see you as sincere after your numerous posts on the situation. Your political correctness should have come in the beginning, not the end. ;)
Eagle07 is correct ;D ;D Political correctness ??? Whats that 8) I speak the truth ;) oh and i was and am sincere, Just because I wanted a better BH doesn't mean I hate the coaches.
Let's all move on and back the EAGLES and the new coach and staff. Hopefully we will not make him paranoid from the jump. I have always been amazed that some posters do not understand the difference between supporting the program but asking a simple question and totally kissing up to a coach because they know him personally or go to church with him. Hopefully we will all get along and BACK THE BLUE!!!! We have a great coach and great kids so let's move on!!!!!! Go EAGLES ;D -

They have beaten some teams with more talent because of hard work by the staff and kids.
Coach -- your bitterness is a cancer. That's why a change had to be made. You really should be actively looking for another job and NOT posting on a football website all day. This is obviously a new and brighter day for the blue and white.
You are mistaken my friend, I am not a coach at BH. Dont know where you get your information fromm but check again. I have a great job that allows me to be on the this site from time to time. I do have ties to BH though, I was part of the 1999 team that went 3 deep.
Hang in there Stranger. Anyone who was on that 1999 team is alright with me. I enjoyed the road trips. You are right about your team. I love you guys but there was some over achievment going on. That is what has a been some of the beauty of BH football. The most successful BH teams going way back have been over achievers because they care and play hard. Looks like we have a great motovater in here who will carry on and improve a proud tradition. -
Article from Abilene Online Newspaper: Hugh Sandifer confirmed Friday that he is a candidate to fill the head football-athletic director vacancy at Class 4A Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill. However, the 24-year Wylie football coach-athletic director said any talk suggesting he’ll be the next Eagles coach is premature. “I’m not actively looking to leave (Wylie) or anything like that,†he said. Sandifer said he and his wife, Brenda, were invited and chose to make the trip to Mont Belvieu, located about 30 miles east of Houston, this week to “check everything out.†He described the visit as “low-key and informal.†Sandifer said it was the Barbers Hill administration that contacted him about the job. Asked if Barbers Hill offered him the job, Sandider declined to comment. Barbers Hill is replacing coach/athletic director Don Price, who resigned Nov. 18 after posting a 99-35 record in 11 years with the Eagles. Price, the second-winningest coach in school history, coached Barbers Hill to 5-5 regular-season record and a fourth-place finish in District 19-4A this past season, which ended with a 21-7 loss to Port Neches-Grove in the bidistrict round of the 4A Division II playoffs. Rumors that Sandifer was being pursued for the opening took hold earlier this week, as his name popped up on numerous high school football Web sites. Among those are smoky.com, a site run by Texas high school sports pundit David Smoak; setxsports.com, a site specializing in sports in Southeast Texas; and 3adownlow.com, a site dedicated to sports information pertaining to 3A schools. “My wife and I went and looked. Once it gets on the Internet, everyone makes their own assumption,†Sandifer said. Sandifer, who has a 211-80-4 record at Wylie and formerly coached the boys basketball team, has built the school’s football program into a Class 3A powerhouse. Wylie has made 16 consecutive playoff appearances, claimed at least a share of 11 straight district titles and played in three 3A Division I state championship games — winning the title in 2004. Barbers Hill, which claims to be in the top 5 in teacher salaries and to have a $250,000 athletic budget, has had its share of football success as well, but the Eagles’ success has tapered off some since they made the jump from 3A to 4A in 2006. The Eagles, who competed in 3A or below until 2005, won the 1A state championships in 1971 and 1976, but Barbers Hill hasn’t advanced past the area round of the playoffs since 1999. Price had five perfect regular seasons during his time in Mont Belvieu — including in 2006, Barber Hills’ first year in 4A. But he was just 24-17 in the school’s four years at the 4A level and 14-16 the past three seasons. According to a story in the Baytown Sun, when Price resigned, the coach was making $98,800 annually. Sandifer’s youngest daughter, is a Wylie senior. He is a 1978 graduate of Abilene Christian University, playing basketball and baseball for the Wildcats.
The key line is BH administration. Maybe it should have said an individual from the BH administration. ;D -

Good luck again in your head coach search, just curious... When do you think they will name the next head coach?
There's no telling, but I'm hearing within the next 6 weeks. According to what I have heard there has already been a ton of interest, but they are telling everyone to hold on until next year to formally apply. Oh and I loved MATH and it is one of the classes that you will use forever! Teaching those kids in Dayton how to count must be brutal though!!!!!!!!!I'm just jerking you chain; D ;D Have a Merry Christmas Purple ;D You and purple have a MERRY CHRISTMAS. Coaches get too much credit when they win and get beat up too much when they loose. Hopefully the next staff will not be as paranoid as some in the past while at the same time will not need there egos stroked 24-7. I'm kind of hoping they will just be regular guys and we can shut down the coach hater line and the coach praise and worship line. Then we can talk about football and the kids who make the sacrifices and practice twice a day in August to entertain us on Friday nights. -
BHpride, you are correct about the turf. I think turf will happen not long after a new AD/HC is hired. BH has the money right now to install a new turf surface but Dr. Poole and the Board have rejected it many times. This is one of those deals that when the new guy gets here and asks for turf he will get it. Its pretty embarrasing when BH spent over a million dollars on the Fieldhouse a few years ago for upgrades but still play on one of the worst surface in SE Texas.
i'm not really one to try and keep up with the Jone'se but our field does look bad just in our district alone. North Forest is about the only one that looks worse. Maybe CE King but we need to do something. The visitor side needs some LOVE also. You are right!!!! I bet the "New Guy" gets it so I guess that will be good for BH. -
I can tell you what the inner circle is looking for. I have heard it before. And it has nothing to do about football. I look for Penee Hall to come back as the AD\HC of the girls Basket Ball and for BH to just hire a head football coach who ever it is. The main reason she left in the first place is because she didn't get the AD job when Price got it. Certain people have daughters coming up that are good and successful basket ball players thru the junior high and little dribblers leagues. One group even won nationals. and they want their kids to have the best opportunity and coach to take them back and win state and she has deep roots here even with certain members on the school board. Just my opinion.
Nice thought but that is not why she left. Actually Price did a cover up on that deal to save the HILL some major embarrassment. -

Price's departure had nothing to do with W's and L's, it was pure politics. When you have an inner circle on a board who have children who play a sport that they feel is not what it once was then it's the football programs' fault and the AD who runs the department. Plain and simple this is what it is about. This has been brewing for years and the inner circle's attempt backfired on them the first time. They took the longer, slower approach this time trying to shield themselves from the ire of the community, but we all know how and why this happened. The reason it had to be now instead of at the end of the existing contract, however long that would be is because of the larger classes coming through the system would have made us more competitive and thus harder for the powers that be to make a change. That's it in a nutshell! Don't let anyone tell you any different.
Not sure I follow, but Price was let go because the football program at BH has peeked and change was needed. Being a coach is not your typical 9-5 job you are judged upon W's and L's as well as the other aspects of the job. When you have a job that is paid for by tax dollars then you are at the mercy of those who pay the taxes. Politics is a major part of this, but you just can't have a coach at a school for 40 years because he shows up on time! Now that being said Price did much more that just show up on time he pulled this program out of the gutter in 99' to go three rounds in the 3A playoffs barly losing to a Robinson team that I beleive went to state that year! Although I have been a major complainer when it comes to football over the years I wish Coach Price well and hope he lands a job that fits him and wish his family well. I have always thought Price was a good AD his management skills are fantastic, but at some point along the way the connection was lost with the kids. Again Thank You coach Price and may you and your family find success wherever you may go. Now the next concern will BH learn from PNG's success and go out State wide and pay top dollar for a proven AD? Or will the good ole boy hunt begin for a cousin/friend to take over the program? I hope we do this right and find someone to take this talent that is comming up and do something with it!!
Only time will tell, but with the politics we have on the Hill and from what I have seen in the past it could very well be someones brother in law. I LOVE living in BH but sometimes our family tree just don't have enough branches. -
They need a real 4A visitors section first. Hopefully if they do get turf, they will expand the visitor section at the same time. Of course for all BH fans, if they want to know what a real 4A football facility looks like, along with real 4A football program (one of the best in Region III), they just have a little drive north on HWY 146 (about 10 miles from the county line) to see it. ;D
Nah, that won't work because a REAL FACILITY would have parking. Haha just kidding Purple. I really hope we will upgrade someday on both the visitor side and the turf. Believe it or not THE SCHOOL BOARD just does not think it is a priorty and we continue to re-elete the same ones so I guess we are in the minority. Oh well.
-
Props to your RB Harmon, Not that we got the greatest run stopping defense over here on the Hill but the guy was one of the best looking backs I have seen in a long time. He hits the line hard and quick and has his head up and shoulders square. If a hole closes he just hits the next one. He was fun to watch even if he was causing my EAGLES fits. Good Luck throughout the playoffs.
