  1. Not sure if he's moved into town yet. However, he is already being a presence at games. Our former AD never wen. t to any girl's athletic events. And it was wonderful seeing Coach Fortune supporting all athletics. He is getting to know the younger kids too. My daughter said he spoke to her about her activities during lunch, and she's only in 8th grade. I'm seeing a lot of excitement from the kids all throughout the program. From what I understand a lot of kids are getting back into atheletics, too. We know our program needs work and time. Can't wait to see our football boys play to their potential and contribute to our atheletics program. Let's put some banners in the gym, boys!
  2. You're right. It's probably too late for her to join a 14u team as most of thos tryouts happen in January. Her skill set, motivation and goals would determine whether she should be on a 14u, 16u, or 18u team. The gold level teams may be having open tryouts depending on their needs. You would do good to contact some teams and see if she could come practice with them and be a pick up player. That's how we started 3 years ago at 11 yrs old and we are playing 18u now. Another important question your daughter needs to answer is if she wants to compete for a scholarship. Most 18u players are looking to play college ball and the competition is stiff out there. Hope this answers some of your questions.
  3. Not sure how this will play out. Right now we are mostly going to just watch relaties play. But Haynes either needs to coach the whole team on how to play the whole game or he needs to go away. We all are tired of him only coaching his favorite 2-4 players and not paying attention to where we havve deficits. I'd rather see us play good hard hitting offense, defense, and SPCIAL TEAMS and lose than watch what's been happening.
  4. I'm not sure how it's gonna play out. But it's always fun to watch the school my kids go to play the school I graduated from. Get to see some heartfelt football, cause none of them boys wants to lose to the other, and old friends. All that being said...I'll have to go for our hornets by a touchdown just because I'd get yelled at otherwise...lol
  5. My son isn't playing school ball yet. I have a daughter who is. She is a natural athlete with a good coachable attitude. Then I sit in the bleachers and hear parents complain and make stupid excuses as to why "johnny" or "jane" aren't playing. And almost every single one has said this - "I had a meeting with the coaches. And ever since then my kid has been sitting out" -or something to this effect. My daughter(who is 13) and I talked about these kinds of things happening before she started school athletics. The one thing I stressed was that she was going to have to learn how talk to the coach about any problems or issues that she may have. I'm giving my son the same speech this year. I believe most parents compound the problem by not teaching the child how to handle these situations with little interference.  I couldn't wait for school athletics to start so that I could actually sit back and enjoy watching my kids play and have fun.
