Team Game

John was definitely the best player out there. His play is typically quiet and does the little things like assists and defense, today his play was very LOUD on the offensive side. Reminded me of his play (not dunks) at the state tournament. Ozen came ready to play for sure.

What.A.Joke. This used to be an honorable thing. Now it is everyone gets a trophy. This was a district of only 5 teams. Looking at safety's alone, their are 7 listed. I know some play with 2, but even at doubling 2 that gets you to 4 (2 on first and 2 on second). Why are the coaches doing this? How many coaches even know the other kids on the opposing team? Seems like if coaches got out of coaching they could easily find a job in sales (like the pitches made to get the kids on the list). I'm sure many of these kids are "great" kids, but that does NOT earn them a spot on the list. KJ Dad, I commend you and your son on your honesty. Congratulations also to the Mustangs on their championship year (it is hard to compete against them on the field and for honors).

I'm sure HJ had a few more fouls that got by, but I am also just as sure that WOS could have been called for more as well. Like Nash said, different styles of play and basketball shape vs football shape plays a part.

And the Dynasty that was started, is no more. The UIL needs to rethink their policy on homeschooling and whatever else that went on. It is a shame for all of th other teams that got beat out by them doing it th right way and didn't get a chance to earn a state title.

Just passed the Alamodome and am looking forward to coming back this spring to watch some basketball.

The irony of a thread about HJ basketball created by a Silsbee guy turning in to nothing but Silsbee football is quite entertaining. May the good fortunes continue for Silsbee Football and their Defensive MVP.

What happened with Sterling?

Looks like lots of talented kids/teams: HJ, WOS, Nederland, Memorial, Dayton, Huntington, East Chambers, Defenders, Ozen, Elite

Boyd played football and basketball at Ozen....I would take Armold over him in either sport.

Kendrick King is up there in my opinion. Grayland can play any position on the football field and stand out.

Let the coach and kids prove themselves on the field. Nothing wrong with believing in your kids and school. I do agree you make a statement of your opinion and get tag teamed by others - especially the Silsbee fans.

For some reason, I thought the topic of this thread was about the new Coach at HJ and not a pissing match between all the Silsbee fans and a proud but somewhat misguided parent from HJ. Good Luck to the new AD - whoever that might be. HJ is looking forward to continuing to build their athletic programs. Let's support the kids and forget all this negativity whether it is between other schools or other programs at the same school.

Congratulations to Coach Sutherland on this well deserved award and recognition. The athletes who have been fortunate to play for you have truly been blessed by your leadership, knowledge and love of the game.
